htaccess redirect subdomain to $_GET - .htaccess

Need some help with htaccess
For a sort of image storage site i need this:"
if users come to http:// subdomain.mysite.com/#RANDOMSTRING/ the server has to act like if it is the url: http:// subdomain.mysite.com/index.php?image=#RANDOMSTRING, but the visitor doesnt have to see this.
Also, on www. mysite.com (so not in the subdomain) there is a wordpress with htaccess for seo friendly urls. (Don't know if this has something to do with it, but because i need to upload files for http:// subdomain.mysite.com to ftp:// www.mysite.com/subdomain)
Hope to hear from you, thank you!

In the htaccess file in the subdomain.mysite.com document root add:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule index\.php - [L]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain.mysite.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.+?)/?$ /index.php?image=$1 [L]
You may not need the RewriteCond at all because it seems your 2 domains (subdomain and www) are in different document roots.

How to add www before subdomain in htaccess

So, we printed some cards but the card accidentally has www.sub.domain.com/example but when to try to go there it says the site cannot be reached but If we try to go to sub.domain.com/example it works.
The main website is made in WordPress but the landing pages (subdomains) are made using Unbounce can this be fixed using .htaccess? if so then which .htaccess file and how can we fix this.
Thank you
You need to redirect your www to non-www. That can be done by adding this to your .htaccess:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.yourdomain.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://yourdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]
Don't forget to change yourdomain with your domain.

Need .htaccess assistance

We have an existing site, let's call it ourdomain.com. We moved content over from a site that is shutting down, let's call it legacydomain.com. We pointed the legacy domain at our server to the /public_html/ folder.
What I need is an .htaccess that will redirect legacydomain.com or legacydomain/anything-here to ourdomain.com/legacydomain/ with nothing else appended to the URL.
However, I also need a few specific URLs to redirect to certain destinations, and they don't really follow a pattern. For example:
legacydomain.com/something.html to ourdomain.com/legacydomain/something.html
legacydomain.com/another.html to ourdomain.com/legacydomain/folder/another.html
This is what I have tried:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.legacydomain\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.ourdomain.com/legacydomain/$1 [R=301,L]
Redirect 301 /something.html http://www.ourdomain.com/legacydomain/another.html
It mostly works, but if I visit legacydomain.com/anything-here it doesn't even attempt to rewrite, it just keeps the domain the same and gives a 404. And also I have a feeling that even if it did work, something like legacydomain.com/anything-here/more-stuff would get rewritten as ourdomain.com/legacydomain/anything-here/more-stuff which I don't want.
Only other thing in the .htaccess is rewriting non-www to www, and the standard WordPress stuff. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Everything above should have an http:// and www in front for the examples, but it wouldn't let me post that many "links".
For each specific rewrite you would need two lines, as follows. Depending on your existing config you may need to add a slash at the beginning of the RewriteRule in front of something.html if this doesn't work.
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} legacydomain.com
RewriteRule something.html http://ourdomain.com/legacydomain/something.html [R=301,L]
Then you would use a catch-all for everything else.
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} legacydomain.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://ourdomain.com/legacydomain/ [R=301,L]
Personally, I would go for the simplest solution which doesn't use mod_rewrite. First, just redirect the specific pages to wherever they need to go.
Redirect 301 /something.html http://ourdomain.com/legacydomain/something.html
Redirect 301 /another.html http://ourdomain.com/legacydomain/another.html
Then, simply redirect everything else to the base URL.
RedirectMatch 301 (.*) http://ourdomain.com/legacydomain/
These must be put in your .htaccess file before the RewriteEngine on statement.

How do I rewrite the url?

Could someone tell me how to rewrite this URL. I have looked at a lot of questions on stackoverflow but they seem to be missing my answer.
RewriteEngine On
That is what I have... its a bit poor.
I need to rewrite url's if they do not point to a directory.
I need to do this...
any.domain.com/pages/some-page-slug/login
To be rewritten to the correct url of...
any.domain.com/pages/login.php?page=32
Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be achieved?
1) Rewriting product.php?id=12 to product-12.html
It is a simple redirection in which .php extension is hidden from the browser’s address bar and dynamic url (containing “?” character) is converted into a static URL.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^product-([0-9]+)\.html$ product.php?id=$1
2) Rewriting product.php?id=12 to product/ipod-nano/12.html
SEO expert always suggest to display the main keyword in the URL. In the following URL rewriting technique you can display the name of the product in URL.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^product/([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)/([0-9]+)\.html$ product.php?id=$2
3) Redirecting non www URL to www URL
If you type yahoo.com in browser it will be redirected to www.yahoo.com. If you want to do same with your website then put the following code to .htaccess file. What is benefit of this kind of redirection?? Please check the post about SEO friendly redirect (301) redirect in php and .htaccess.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^optimaxwebsolutions\.com$
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.optimaxwebsolutions.com/$1 [R=301,L]
4) Rewriting yoursite.com/user.php?username=xyz to yoursite.com/xyz
Have you checked zorpia.com.If you type http://zorpia.com/roshanbh233 in browser you can see my profile over there. If you want to do the same kind of redirection i.e http://yoursite.com/xyz to http://yoursite.com/user.php?username=xyz then you can add the following code to the .htaccess file.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)$ user.php?username=$1
RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)/$ user.php?username=$1
5) Redirecting the domain to a new subfolder of inside public_html.
Suppose the you’ve redeveloped your site and all the new development reside inside the “new” folder of inside root folder. Then the new development of the website can be accessed like “test.com/new”. Now moving these files to the root folder can be a hectic process so you can create the following code inside the .htaccess file and place it under the root folder of the website. In result, www.test.com point out to the files inside “new” folder.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^test\.com$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.test\.com$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/new/
RewriteRule (.*) /new/$1
TO do this you need to write a front controller.
See here, here, here, and here.
Alternatively in Apache you can rewrite this
any.domain.com/pages/32/login
or this:
any.domain.com/32/login
or even this:
any.domain.com/some-slug/32/login
to this:
any.domain.com/pages/login.php?page=32
One way or another to do this with only apache you need to supply the page id in some fashion. Keep in mind even with format any.domain.com/some-slug/32/login the content of the slug is irrelevant and won't necessarily link to the correct page. Which I imagine is undesirable and bad for SEO.
Another alternative is using RewriteMap. But this will be tricky and require reloading apache configurations whenever a page/slug is created/edit.
I understand that pages and login are static in this case and some-page-slug is changing. And you always want to redirect to static page /pages/login.php?page=32
So this is how to do it:
1) Rewrite
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^pages/([a-zA-Z0-9_]+)/login(.*)$ /pages/login.php?page=32
or 2) Redirect Pernament
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^pages/([a-zA-Z0-9_]+)/login(.*)$ /pages/login.php?page=32 [R=301,L]
or 3) Redirect Temporary
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^pages/([a-zA-Z0-9_]+)/login(.*)$ /pages/login.php?page=32 [R=302,L]

How do I fix old links after modifing .htaccess for Joomla installation in a subfolder?

I have my main Joomla installation in a subdirectory. I used to redirect users from www.mysite.com to www.mysite.com/subdir with a 301 so that the live site was entirely dislocated over there.
I don't actually like the fact that all the URL are preceded by the subdirectory /subdir/ (and I also think this is not very good for SEO) so I modified my .htaccess file like this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
# Add trailing slash if path does not contain a period or end with a slash
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(\.|/$)
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.mysite.com/$1/ [R=301,L]
#Change http://yoursite.com to http://www.mysite.com (Optional)
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mysite.com$
RewriteRule ^/?(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L]
#Rewrites http://www.mysite.com/subdir to http://www.mysite.com/
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ subdir/$1 [L]
I also edited the configuration file for Joomla! so that now all the links in the site point (correctly) to www.main.com/theirquery and noto to www.main.com/subdir/theirquery
Now, however, all the old links (that have been posted to other webistes, for example) appears to be broken (404): how can I solve this?
I think I have to redirect (301) them to the new subdirectory-free address, that will be (another time) silently redirected with the htaccess I posted.
But I don't know how to do this!
Thank you in advance!
Can you try setting the $live_site parameter in configuration.php? You need to edit it directly rather than through the backend of Joomla.
You need to add this to your htaccess.
RewriteRule ^subdir/(.*)$ /$1 [R=301,NC,L]
This is not possible since the old links where not physical but stored in a database, so redirecting them wouldn't be possible without passing through the database again.

Can you do a redirect in .htaccess, and preserve the URI?

Is there a way to use .htaccess to redirect example.net to example.com, so that the URI example.net stays the same in the client's browser?
I found these examples from this link:
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} domain2.com
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !subdirectory/
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ subdirectory/$1 [L]
or
RewriteEngine On
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} domain2.com
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !mychatfolder/
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain1.com/subfolder/$1 [L]
I haven't tested these out though.
If I'm understanding your question correctly, what you want is two sites which appear exactly the same, but neither one redirects to the other. You want the person who visits example.net to see the same stuff as is on example.com, but they should still see example.net in their browser address bar.
There are a few ways of doing this. The simplest, of course, is to simply upload the same content to both sites, but this might make updating tricky. Another is to set one domain as an alias of the other; exactly how to do this will depend on your server configuration. It would be simpler, and would perhaps be better for SEO purposes, to redirect one domain to the other.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [R=302,L]
# 302 is a temporary redirect. Use it for testing purposes. Once you're sure it works, change it to 301.
If you want the domain example.net to point to example.com then the best way isn't rewriting it, but to park that domain to example.com and the app. for that is basically titled as Parked Domains that's in Domains section if your control panel is cPanel or if your web hosting account features an app. that can park a domain.
