How to open work item query result in microsoft excel from Azure DevOps?

Hi I am trying to open Work item query results in microsoft excel but getting an error "TF208093 you cannot use work item query to generate reports in excel on this server because it is not configured for reporting"
Below are the steps which I performed
1. Installed excel extension from marketplace on Azure DevOps
2. Installed Visual Studio 2017
3. Installed Team Foundation Server Integration 2017
I tested the "open work item query result in microsoft excel" through the excel extension with below process:
Click the “Open in Excel” in Query Results after I installed the Excel extension for my organization:
Click the “Open TfsProtocolHandler.exe” button in popup dialog
Now we can see it in Excel opened automatically:
The only difference between my process and yours is that i didn't install Team Foundation Server Integration 2017 (I have Visual Studio 2017 on my computer), you can try to uninstall it and do the process again see if we can solve the problem.
Your error very similar to the error with the reports generation. Azure DevOps Service does not support Reports:
Try to open your query directly from Excel:
Visual Studio 2019 appears to not be installing the needed component (maybe only under certain workloads?).
Whether have VS 2019 or not, this download should solve the issue: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/#azure-devops-office-integration-2019
Note: this isn't quite a direct answer to the question, since the questioner does have the TfsProtocolHandler.exe, rather this answer is a fix for "nothing happens when I click 'Open in Excel'"

Error (TF80068) opening TFS Query from VS2015 to MS Excel

We are trying to use the Open in Microsoft Excel feature in VS2015 to open TFS query results in Excel when we receive the error: TF80068: Team Foundation encountered an error while communicating with the server. Please check your connection and try again. Excel TFS Error
I can open Excel (Office 365) and use the Team menu New List to connect to the server (2010) and pull the results of the query without issue.
It is only when we use the VS2015 option that it fails.
I've removed and added the AddIn numerous times.
I've tried to register the dll as well...no luck.
Thanks in advance!
TFS MS Office button
To fix the error open Excel to a blank workbook
Click File -> Options -> Add-Ins
At the bottom open the Manage drop down and select COM Add-Ins
Click Go…
In the Add-Ins Available list scroll to the bottom, you should see something like the attached image
add Ins list
You may have up to 3 Team Foundation Add-in items, although they look similar they are different
a. Select each one and check the location for each
b. Ensure ONLY the one labeled "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Team Foundation Server\14.0\x86\TFSOfficeAdd-in.dll" is selected
Verify TFC Office Shim is unselected
Click OK
Return to VS2015 and open the project in Team Explorer
Open Work Items
Select Open in Microsoft Office drop down and click Open Query in Microsoft Excel
It should now work! You should see data in the worksheet
I guess you should install latest version of Office Integration: ISO and Web Installer.
Hope this helps!
I received this error and fixed it by re-signing in using the following steps. There might be a more straight-forward way to fix, but this is what worked for me:
Open a new Excel instance.
Creat a new workbook.
Click on the "Team" tab.
Select "New List" ("Connect to Team Foundation Server" dialog should appear)
Click "Switch User" in the bottom left.
Enter credentials.
Open original workbook.

VS 2012 Express: Team Explorer: Can't create New Team Project

I've set up the Team Foundation Server. I'm the Administrator with full Permissions on all groups.
I've created a new Collection in the Administration Console and "Allow" Create Projects in the Control Panel
I've installed the Team Explorer that Microsoft says is for VS2012.
When I try to create a "New Team Project" in VS 2012 Express for a Project that I want to add to the Collection I get the following error:
TF30172: You are trying to create a team project either without required
permissions or with an older version of Team Explorer...
I've read all the available online information on Team Explorer, they pretty much all skip straight to how to add/check-out/check-in project items to TF, but very inconveniently ignore the how to create a "New Team Project".
How the heck do I do that, when nothing works?
I can't download "Team Explorer 2013 RC" which was the other bit of advice, that no longer exists, I really do not want to install VS 2013 Express, I've wasted so much time with VS 2012 Express and that part of it is now working.
Why, oh why did Microsoft go down the Team Foundation/Team Explorer route when VSS was so easy to set up and manage, and then not allow VSS to be used with VS2012?
You need to create a Team Project using the same version of Team Explorer as your Team Foundation Server. If you have TFS 2013, then you need VS 2013; do not get the RC, the release has been out for a long time.
Do not bemoan VSS, it was a fine product in its day, but that day was over a decade ago.

how to solve this issue "Visual studio .Net cannot create or open the application VS2003"?

I tried to open my old projects developed by VS2003 but I am not able to open in Visual studio 2003.
Whenever I tried to create a new project or open my existing project in VS 2003 it will populate a error dialogue box .
Its Showing error like "Visual studio .Net cannot create or open the application. The likeliest problem is that required components are not installed on the local web server. Run visual studio .net setup and add the web development component"
I noticed one thing that when I tried to create a new project It will automatically point to the location
http://localhost/newproject
I dont know why it is?

TF30063: You are not authorized to access after change from TFS2010 to TFS2012

I am working with VS2012 and TFS2012. Before I have worked with VS2010 and TFS2010 and my
credential was stored in the Credential Manager. Everything works fine and the shift to
TFS2012 and VS2012 was successful. The VS2012 used the old settings in the Credential Manager.
The Admin has now changed my access to TFS with new username and pswd. After deleting my old
credentials and login via VS2012 I get the Error
"TF30063: You are not authorized to access..."
Does anyone have an idea why this might be? Mabe are the permission on TFS2012 not correct?
The Admin said, that the permission are not changed and that they have the same settings as in
TFS2012.
Thanks in advance for every hint.
Best regards.
Most people probably get this error with visual studio. Example in vs 2013, team explorer tab - click on
Select Team Projects -> Select a Team Foundation Server
You should get prompted to login. If you had cancelled a login prompt, this is your chance to enter the credentials again.
For Visual Studio 2012
Team Explorer -> Connect to Team Projects (plug icon) -> Team Foundation Service -> Connect
For Visual Studio 2015
Team Explorer --> Connect to Team Projects (plug icon) --> Manage Connections --> Connect to Team Foundation Server
thanks to Assaf Stone for the hint, to set my comment to a answer, so that everybody can find the solution.
So if anybody run into this issue, I hope this will help you:
"After a while searching on internet I found the solution under following link
TFS 2012 – Issue: TF30063: You are not authorized to access and can’t trace permissions
A global deny on TFS was defined for my account and the deny takes precedence over any other permission."
Best regards.
My fix was "clear the package cache", it can be found here:
1 - Open VS
2 - Go to Tools-> Options
3 - Open "NuGet Package Manager" and select General
4 - Click in the button: "clear the package cache"
Cheers.
Simply delete whole cache in Internet Explorer did it for me.
I just received the "You are not authorized error" when trying to login via Visual Studio 2012. As #hfrmobile stated, going into Internet Explorer and clearing the entire cache worked perfectly.
You can also try restarting TFSTray, not Team Foundation Server Best Practices Analyzer.
You will have to cycle through all the TFSTray options that you may have available. In my case, I had to cycle TFSTray1 and TFSTray.
Windows (button) > type TFS > cycle throught the options, like the image below:
You could have issues with files that are locked. You must use your explorer to changed from locked to write.
These steps worked for me.
Close Visual Studio 2017
Open Visual Studio 2017 again
:-)
