Use CoreData in MonoTouch? - core-data

I have seen that there are so wonderful ways in Xcode to design your CoreData models - is there a way to make use of this and CoreData in general in MonoTouch 5?
Any tutorials or examples?

Maybe is not the direct answer to your question but might be what you are looking for:
Sqlite-net is an open source, minimal library to allow .NET and Mono applications to store data in SQLite 3 databases. <- the one you are using but for future reference
Vici CoolStorage is a fully typed Object Relational Mapping library for .NET 3.5, Windows Phone, MonoTouch and Mono for Android
Catnap is a basic lightweight ORM for .NET. It uses the ADO.NET API. The project includes an adapter for Sqlite, and it is tested with System.Data.Sqlite and Mono.Data.Sqlite.
MonoTouch.SQLite An abstract UITableViewController to make displaying data from an SQLite table simpler.
Entify is entity framework for desktop and mobile applications. It aims to be stable and easy-to-use library that is effortless to deploy with any application. It has visual designer which allows developer to define application data model easily and quickly.
Just a side note on entify, it has not been updated since Apr 11, 2010 so idk if it still works
The only thing I could find about MonoTouch and CoreData was this blog post.
Hope this helps.
Alex

Here is the documentation for CoreData in Mono.
This blog post is almost two years old, but the only example I could find of using CoreData in Mono.
Most relevant to your question, however, this bug/request is for integrating Xcode's tools into Mono. It doesn't seem to even be under development yet.
Edit:
You can also use /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr/bin/momc <source xcdatamodel> <absolute path to target> to generate the .momd. I'm still working on getting it integrated better - see this question.

Developing C++ WinUI3 Desktop App with MVVM

I am looking at the WinUI3 framework with native C++ support for desktop applications.I cannot see any MVVM support as in C#. Should I expect it will be never supported and go i.e. with MVP with some code behind, or I am missing something?I cannot find any sample.
When you are talking about automatic tooling for XAML than you have to wait until 2024 to use it with C++. This is the estimated timeline from MS as they first hebr yo push a reflection API into the C++2023 standard.
But the MVVM fundamentals are perfectly working. Just write it out by hand and enjoy a developer experience last seen in 2006.
You can do MVVM by implementing interfaces such as INotifyPropertyChanged manually. Check out this sample which showcases how to implement the interface.
The cppxaml library (part of the unpackaged NuGet package) has been providing some help with MVVM though it's very barebones compared to MVVM frameworks available for .NET apps.

Level of support in Monotouch for SQLite

I am wondering what level of support the latest MonoTouch has for using SQLite. The closest information I can find is this article here which referes to limited support in v1.2 however it concedes that you may run into run time errors while using this.
This is what I found on the Xamarin website: http://docs.xamarin.com/ios/Guides/Advanced_Topics/System.Data
This really scares me. Is there any documentation out there indicating what current level of support Xamarin has for SQLite?
I can't speak about the changes in System.Data support past that article, but I think it's quite common for folks to use csharp-sqlite, or better yet sqlite-net instead. Csharp-sqlite is an independent port of SQLite. And sqlite-net is "better yet" in the sense that its a minimal library where you can drop a single file in your project and use it to support sqlite on the various mono platforms. Yet it has nice features still such as "strongly typed queries" due to reflection-based ORM. So if you don't need a full Sqlite driver its a good option.
Greg Shackles did a nice seminar on x-platform dev with Monotouch/droid back in April where he covers these and other libraries: http://blog.xamarin.com/2012/04/25/cross-platform-mobile-development-seminar/
This link is outdated, it's about MonoTouch 1.2 and the latest MonoTouch's version is 6.0.
I'm using Sqlite with Vici CoolStorage in two apps on App Store: easy and no problems at all. I've never see any runtime errors using Sqlite.

Portable(in USB drive) C# CRUD apps

I need to write app from C# that do CRUD with database.and also it shuld look up for .net framework and install it if particular pc doesn't have it.user must be able to do crud things from the place he finished in previous computer
can you suggest me:
Database to use
Any class libraries for this
Any special considerations
I m using vs 2010 with .net framwork 4
A bit offtopic:
Actually "portable app" philosophy mean not only it could run without any installation process but also it will not leave any trails after itself. It including various frameworks installation.
To avoid any installations or registry trails - check portableapps.com, they have pretty neat toolset to make any app portable. They have Java-vm solution for sure, don't remember about .NET solution.

Windows CE UI Componets

Are there any UI Components for Windows CE 6.0, other than the ones supplied by the Compact Framework and Visual Studio? I am developing applications with C# and the Compact Framework that need some visual design and the VS controls and components are not sufficient to me.
Thx your answers.
See this similar question: Round buttons for Windows Mobile. It should be relevant for Windows CE 6 as well. The example is in native code, but you can use SDF 1.4 source code to convert it to C#. I guess you can use the technique shown to create more controls of your own.
I also found this article about creating custom controls for Windows Mobile that might suite Windows CE as well as it is based on the compact framework, but I have not read this through nor tested it.
What components exactly are you looking for?
Windows CE6 R3 now supports Silverlight, so you can do some pretty cool things, although i think it's a little more complicated than typical Silverlight.

How can I create a class diagram from my J2ME project? (NetBeans used to do this)

I have created a game and would like to automatically create a class diagram from my J2ME code. NetBeans (pre 6.5 I think) used to have UML plugin to do this, but as I am using the latest 6.8 version of NetBeans I can't use this old UML plugin anymore!
Does anyone know how I can automatically create a class diagram from my J2ME project?
Unfortunately, I try to find any free reverse engineering uml tool and find nothing good except netbeans uml editor.
EclipseUML Omondo Free Edition is quite good, but on free edition do not support reverse engineering As far as I know. But if you need a one time diagram - you can try trial EclipseUML Omondo Studio Edition. But in this case you need port project to eclipse - not so hard as it looks. Good luck!
umbrello seems to do the job! link text
Although I do have to manually drag and drop classes to get them to display! but thats better than making the whole thing manually I suppose!
