Find and replace between two sheets in Excel VBA - excel

I know this has been done before, but I am running into an issue in where I want to change part of this script, I just don't know how.
This is the code, below it is what I need to do.
Option Explicit
Sub PENCMR()
Dim i As Integer
With Application
.ScreenUpdating = False
End With
'Internal NCMR
Dim wsPE As Worksheet
Dim wsNDA As Worksheet
'Copy Ranges
Dim c As Variant
'Paste Ranges
Dim p As Range
'Setting Sheet
Set wsPE = Sheets("Print-Edit NCMR")
Set wsNDA = Sheets("NCMR Data")
Set p = wsPE.Range("A54:U54")
With wsPE
c = Array(.Range("AG3"), .Range("B11"), .Range("B14"), .Range("B17"), .Range("B20"), .Range("B23") _
, .Range("Q11"), .Range("Q14"), .Range("Q17"), .Range("Q20"), .Range("R25"), .Range("V23") _
, .Range("V25"), .Range("V27"), .Range("B32"), .Range("B36"), .Range("B40"), .Range("B44") _
, .Range("D49"), .Range("L49"), .Range("V49"))
End With
For i = LBound(c) To UBound(c)
p(i + 1).Value = c(i).Value
Next
With wsNDA
Dim rFind As Long, NR As Long, LR As Long, LC As Long
LR = .Range("C" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
LC = .Cells(2, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column
NR = LR + 1
rFind = wsNDA.Range("A3:A" & LR).Find(wsPE.Range("A54:U54")).Row
.Range("A54", .Cells(2, LC)).Copy
.Range("A" & rFind).PasteSpecial xlPasteValues
.Range("A54", .Cells(1, LC)).ClearContents
End With
With Application
.ScreenUpdating = True
End With
End Sub
The script is meant to do this:
When the code is activated, it is meant to copy all cells and then paste them into a row below the form and then after referencing the 2nd page comparing the first cell of the newly created row to the 2nd page list copy and replace the information.
What I'd like to see, since I've been told that it can be done without pasting onto the same page, is copy the data, do a search for the ID number on the 2nd sheet, and paste over said row with the new data.
Here is the sheet:
Excel Replace WkSht
The way this is written now, it doesn't replace the information, it just overwrites it with blank information. Which I've yet to figure out why... hopefully with this request rewrite, I'll be able to get that resolved.
Thanks again for the help. This place has been amazing in what they have done so far in helping me not only learn, but to write smartly in the long run.

SpecialCells Type Visible cannot find last row in vba

All, I am working part of my code where I want to update filtered noncontiguous cells with index / match. Core of my code is working in proper manner in another case but here seems wrong and do not know what is the reason behind. Working turn endless and could cause that no last row find in section here: Set rngI = usedR.Resize(usedR.Rows.Count - 1).Offset(5).Columns("I:I").SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible). Checked with debug.print the result which shows me the end as wrong...$I$174:$I$1046999...proper has to be $I$174:$I$197...what could be the reason behind?
Another question using lastrow calculation..on this way this doesnt work, Dim lastrow As Long, lastrow = rngD(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).row I have to correct like this to count...lastrow = rngD(rngD.Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).row. What's the reason behind that once working on first way, once only if I double type range. This code is in Personal folder if it counts anyway
Sub Macro2()
Dim wbD As Workbook: Set wbD = Workbooks("dashboard-advanced.xls")
Dim wsD As Worksheet: Set wsD = wbD.Sheets("Sheet1")
Dim rngD As Range: Set rngD = wsD.Range("A:C")
Dim wbCallLCL As Workbook: Set wbCallLCL = Workbooks("CALL_REPORT.xlsx")
Dim wsCallLCL As Worksheet: Set wsCallLCL = wbCallLCL.Sheets("LCL")
Dim rngCallLCL As Range: Set rngCallLCL = wsCallLCL.Range("A:V")

Dim lastrow As Long
lastrow = rngD(rngD.Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).row
Dim usedR As Range, rngI As Range, A As Range, C As Range
Set usedR = wsCallLCL.UsedRange
Set rngI = usedR.Resize(usedR.Rows.Count - 5).Offset(1).Columns("I:I").SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible)
For Each A In rngI.Areas
For Each C In A.Cells
res = Application.Match(C.Value, wsD.Range("A2:" & "A" & lastrow), 0)
If IsError(res) Then
C.Offset(, 1).Value = ""
Else
C.Offset(, 1).Value = Application.WorksheetFunction.Index(wsD.Range("B2:" & "B" & lastrow), res, 0)
End If

Copy and paste data from one sheet to multiple where range matches sheet names

I have an API call that pulls data relating to 34 individual sites. Each site has a varying number of assets within it, each with a unique identifier.
I am trying to write a macro that will copy and paste the data for specific sites into their own individual worksheet within the file. The basic concept of this I am familiar with but I am struggling with the ranges I need to specify.
So basically, I need the macro to work its way down Column A of the sheet called Raw Data and identify any rows where the Site name (Value in column A) matches one of the Sheet names. It should then copy the Rows from A to H with that site name and paste into the respective site sheet in rows A to H.
The values in Column A will always match one of the other sheets in the workbook.
Example image that might help explain a bit better:
Apologies in advance if my explanation is not very clear. I have very limited experience using macros so I am not sure if my way of explaining what I want to achieve is understandable or if at all possible.
I am very keen to learn however and any guidance you fine folk could offer would be very much appreciated.
Welcome!
Try this one
Function ChkSheet(SheetName As String) As Boolean
For i = 1 To Worksheets.Count
If Worksheets(i).Name = SheetName Then
ChkSheet = True
Exit Function
End If
Next
ChkSheet = False
End Function
Sub test()
Dim i, j, k As Long
Dim wsRaw As Worksheet
Dim Aux As String
Set wsRaw = Worksheets("Raw Data")
For i = 1 To wsRaw.Range("A:A").SpecialCells(xlCellTypeLastCell).Row
If ChkSheet(wsRaw.Cells(i, 1).Value2) Then
Aux = wsRaw.Cells(i, 1).Value2
k = Worksheets(Aux).Range("A:A").SpecialCells(xlCellTypeLastCell).Row + 1
For j = 1 To 8
Worksheets(Aux).Cells(i + k, j).Value2 = wsRaw.Cells(i, j).Value2
Next
Else
Worksheets.Add.Name = wsRaw.Cells(i, 1).Value2
Aux = wsRaw.Cells(i, 1).Value2
k = 2
For j = 1 To 8
Worksheets(Aux).Cells(i + k, j).Value2 = wsRaw.Cells(i, j).Value2
Next
End If
Next
End Sub
So the Function ChkSheet will check if the sheet exist (you donĀ“t need to create them) and the procedure test will follow all the items that you have in your "Raw Data" worksheet and it will copy to the last used row of every sheet.
And please, even for a newbie, google, read, get some information and when you get stacked, ask for help. This forum is not for giving solutions with not effort.
Good morning all,
David, thanks very much for your help with this. I really didn't want you to think I was trying to get someone to give me the answer and I had tried a few other things before asking the question, but I neglected to show any evidence of my workings. Rookie mistake and I apologise for this.
Having done a bit more research online and with a good dollop of help from a much more experienced colleague I have got the below code using advance filter which works perfectly for what I need.
I thought I would share it here in case it is of any use to others in the future.

Thanks again to all who answered and especially to you David. Although I have only used the basic principles from what you offered, it was extremely useful to help me understand what I needed to do in order to get the data to copy into the correct sheets.
Many thanks,

Exceeding row limit - create new sheet

I have 2 columns on a sheet "list", one column that lists all business entities, the other lists all org units. The functionality of the code below works perfectly but returns an error because it exceeds the sheet row limit.
The data is pasted onto a sheet "cc_act" is there a way to at point of error create a new sheet called "cc_act1"...."cc_act2" until the script is complete?
Declare Function HypMenuVRefresh Lib "HsAddin" () As Long
Sub cc()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim list As Worksheet: Set list = ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("list")
Dim p As Worksheet: Set p = ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("p")
Dim calc As Worksheet: Set calc = ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("calc")
Dim cc As Worksheet: Set cc = ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("cc_act")
Dim cc_lr As Long
Dim calc_lr As Long: calc_lr = calc.Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row
Dim calc_lc As Long: calc_lc = calc.Cells(1,
calc.Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column
Dim calc_rg As Range
Dim ctry_rg As Range
Dim i As Integer
Dim x As Integer
list.Activate
For x = 2 To Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
If list.Range("B" & x).Value <> "" Then
p.Cells(17, 3) = list.Range("B" & x).Value
End If
For i = 2 To Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
If list.Range("A" & i).Value <> "" Then
p.Cells(17, 4) = list.Range("A" & i).Value
p.Calculate
End If
p.Activate
Call HypMenuVRefresh
p.Calculate
'''changes country on calc table
calc.Cells(2, 2) = p.Cells(17, 4)
calc.Cells(2, 3) = p.Cells(17, 3)
calc.Calculate
'''copy the calc range and past under last column
With calc
Set calc_rg = calc.Range("A2:F2" & calc_lr)
End With
With cc
cc_lr = cc.Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row + 1
calc_rg.Copy
cc.Cells(cc_lr, "A").PasteSpecial xlPasteValues
End With
Next i
Next x
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub
I suppose there are a few ways to handle something like this. See the code sample below, and adapt it to your specific needs.
Sub LongColumnToAFewColumns()
Dim wsF As Worksheet, WST As Worksheet
Dim rf As Range, rT As Range
Dim R As Long, j As Integer
' initialize
Set wsF = ActiveSheet
Set WST = Sheets.Add
WST.Name = "Results"
j = 1
For R = 1 To wsF.Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row Step 65536
wsF.Cells(R, 1).Resize(65536).Copy
WST.Cells(j, 1).PasteSpecial xlPasteValues
WST.Cells(j, 1).PasteSpecial xlPasteValues
j = j + 1
Next R
End Sub
As an aside, you may want to consider using MS Access for this kind of thing. Or, better yet, Python or even R. Good luck with your project.

Two-dimensional array used as translation to copy and paste rows

I have a spreadsheet that calls out jobs with agents assigned. The "agent ID" is in column A, with data in columns A-M.
I have separate sheets for each of the agent's supervisor (supervisor last name). I was hard coding the agent ID into the macro but I would like to make it work so I could pull that data from a translation sheet which would hold nothing more than the agent ID and corresponding supervisor last name. I can't figure out how to parse through the data row by row, find the agent id, then copy that row to the corresponding sheet.
I already have the translation sheet (named sup-agent_Trans) with AgentID, Supervisor; that's it, those two columns.
Here is what I have so far:
Dim varList As Variant
Dim lstRowTrans As Long
Dim lstRowRework As Long
Dim rngArr As Range
Dim rngRwk As Range
Dim row As Range
Dim cell As Range
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
lstRowTrans = Worksheets("Tech-Sup_Trans").Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).row
lstRowRework = Worksheets("Rework").Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).row
varList = Sheets("Tech-Sup_Trans").Range("A1:B" & lstRowTrans)
Set rngRwk = Sheets("Rework").Range("A1:A" & lstRowRework)
For Each cell In rngRwk
For i = LBound(varList, 2) To UBound(varList, 2) 'columns
If i = cell(i).Value <> "" Then
For j = LBound(varList, 1) To UBound(varList, 1) 'rows
If varList(j, cell(i).Value) Then
IsInArray = True
End If
Next j
End If
Next i
Next cell
So after someone so graciously pointed out that I don't need to use an array, I used the "Find" function for a range and figured it out. Thanks findwindow!

Taking a Reference cell, searching through 2nd sheet, replace data with same identifier

I decided to change my tact.
I decided to take another shot at this, but in a new way. I did a weekend long Google marathon and found I believe my answer,
Option Explicit
Sub DataUpdate()
Dim rFind As Long, NR As Long, LR As Long, LC As Long
LR = Range("C" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
LC = Cells(2, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column
NR = LR + 1
On Error Resume Next
rFind = Range("A25:A" & LR).Find(Range("A1")).Row
On Error GoTo 0
If rFind = 0 Then
If MsgBox("Customer record not found, add to dataset?", vbYesNo + vbQuestion) = vbYes Then
Range("A2", Cells(LC, 2)).Copy
Range("C" & NR).PasteSpecial xlPasteValues
Range("A1", Cells(1, LC)).ClearContents
Exit Sub
End If
Else
Range("A2", Cells(2, LC)).Copy
Range("A" & rFind).PasteSpecial xlPasteValues
Range("A1", Cells(1, LC)).ClearContents
End If
End Sub
Looking at this I just want a cleaner explanation instead of just taking it as is, and using it without knowing what I am doing.
Here is the sheet it is on:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3327208/Excel/Replace.zip
If I add this to my code, regurgitate this code I see I can do this, I just want to verify that this is correct.

The code runs, but it doesn't come back with an error, yet it doesn't run completely. It hits to the point where it drags everything down, then it seems to die there. Can someone help me find out why it doesn't do what I think it should do, which is copy the row, search for the number in column A, and then write over it with the correct data in row 54...
I know something is wrong, but I don't have the skills to figure out what, if someone can help me it be greatly appreciated.
I am not 100% sure of what you are trying to achieve but there are several problems in your code:
Instead of
Set p = wsPE.Range("A54:U54")
For i = LBound(c) To UBound(c)
p(i + 1).Value = c(i).Value
Next
You probably mean
Set p = wsPE.Range("A54")
For i = LBound(c) To UBound(c)
p.Offset(0, i) = c(i)
Next
In your With wsNDA block, you need to put . before the Range and Cells, for example:
.Range("A54", .Cells(2, LC)).Copy
Finally:
I would remove the ScreenUpdating statements for now, and run the code in debug mode (F8) to see step by step what the code is doing and check the values of your variables if necessary use "Add Watch"
I would avoid using a range to store temporary data. You could use a 2D array instead, like this for example:
Dim data As Variant
Redim data(1 To 1, 1 To 21) As Variant
for i = xx To yy
data(1,i+1) = c(i)
Next i
yourTargetCell.Resize(1, UBound(data,2)) = data
