htaccess rewrite directory and index with anchors - .htaccess

Just curios if there's a way to have a rewrite for /static/index-discover.html
look like its coming from /discover/? And does this mean that I can, from that
point have href's point to anchors like /discover/#whatever and /discover/#whatever/andagain?
I know the htaccess stuffs done to death, but I don't think I've ever seen it used
with anchor tags and writebacks

Hash "#" tags are strictly client-side and never sent to the server. Thus, .htaccess will never see them. To use them, you must implement JavaScript to read them.
However to use .htaccess to get the URL you are looking for, do:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^discover/$ static/index-discover.html [L]
EDIT: I see now what you meant by the anchor tags... I guess I read your question too fast. If you do a redirect like I posted, all anchor tags will work just fine.

The first rewrite doesn't work for me. I was wondering if a rewrite rule must contain the absolute path? But even the second one with the absolute path does not work.

Launched new Magento site and old pages are redirecting to homepage -- How is that controlled?

Launched a new website, indexed site in Google and the crawl report came up with no errors. Ultimately I want to redirect old pages to their appropriate pages on new website, but I can't see the old pages any longer. Is this being controlled by .htaccess? If so, what rule is controlling this? Any help is much appreciated! .htaccess here:

.htaccess 301 Redirect Multiple URLs to one

I have an ecommerce site which currently has product URLs like this:
http://www.mydomain.com/nike-tshirt/Large
http://www.mydomain.com/nike-tshirt/Medium
http://www.mydomain.com/nike-tshirt/Small
On the new site the different sizes all point to one URL, so I need to .htaccess direct these three URLs to the one page. Instead of doing each one separately, I would like to do it as a regular expression, so that any URL with the first part followed by any size will redirect to the new URL.
E.g: 301 redirect /nike-tshirt/[reg exp.] http://www.mydomain.com/nike-tshirt.html
Any help would be much appreciated!

Force www redirects to home page, htaccess errors

I have a product page that loads fine when I type in the www with the URL (www.domain.com/product), but when I don’t, it redirects to the home page(domain.com/product -> www.domain.com). I'm using Magento.
I’ve been searching and tried the htaccess method that all the other threads mention but to no avail:
############################################
## 301 the url for SEO
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.example\.com$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [R=permanent,L]
Redirect 301 /home http://www.example.com/
############################################
When I add this, I either see no change or the whole site goes down with a 500 error: too many rewrites.
My main domain works fine with or without the www. This is what my htaccess looks like:

Anyone have any ideas?
Avoid using both RewriteRule and Redirect. They are different modules, and can interact strangly, resulting in unusual side effect.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.example\.com$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [R=permanent,L]
RewriteRule ^home$ / [L,R=301]
Also try clearing your browsers cache, as 301's are cached very aggressively.
edit
After your comment and reading your original question more thoroughly I think you placed the www-rules in the wrong location. Try putting those rules to the top your current htaccess file.
