I'm using this code
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?domain.com$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/public/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /public/$1
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?domain.com$
RewriteRule ^(/)?$ public/index.php [L]
and it works OK in the httpdocs folder, but now we changed it to httpsdocs, because we want our whole site to be SSL encrypted and it doesn't work anymore. Any ideas on fixing it? thanks
This will convert any non-HTTPS requests to become HTTPS
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !on
RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
ie. if you type in http://domain.com it will become https://domain.com - should work with the above still :)

I'm not sure what causes redirect loop here.
RewriteEngine on
This bit removes .html extention
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.html -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.html [NC,L]
This bit force non www
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.example.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://example.com/$1 [L,R=301]
this bit supposed to force SSL, but apparently I get redirect loop when add this, but from what I understand this should only trigger if HTTPS is off?
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
The solution that worked was:
RewriteCond %{HTTP:X-Forwarded-SSL} !on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(.well-known)(/|$)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
It was webfaction shared hosting, so it looks like server variable ${HTTPS} was not correct as #MrWhite pointed out.
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L,QSA]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule .* https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteRule .* https://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
</IfModule>
I have created a website using Codeigniter framework and my domain and hosting is on GoDaddy. Now, I have installed SSL certificate and manage with my website. Now, when I use example.com in URL it redirects me on https://www.example.com but when I click on my login page it shows me Not Found and URL looks like https://www.example.com/index.php?/login but I want URL Like https://www.example.com/login. So, How can I do this? Please help.
Thank You
Change order of your rules
Have a single rule to redirect www and http -> https
Your .htaccess should be like this:
RewriteEngine on
# redirect for adding www and https
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !on [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteRule ^ https://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L,NE]
# front controller
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L,QSA]
Make sure to use a new browser for your testing.
Please use this htaccess rules will work 100%
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|resources|robots\.txt)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L,QSA]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule .* https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteRule .* https://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
use this:
Options All -Indexes
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
I'm attempting to canonicalization my URL. However, when adding the relevant code, it breaks my other rewrite rules which allows me to hide the .html/ .php. It works fine when landing on the homepage but when you go to a page with www. and a file path at the end of the URL the page redirects to the homepage without www.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?path=$1 [NC,L,QSA]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.bespoke-apertures\.co.uk$ [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) https://bespoke-apertures.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]
Have it like this in different order:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(bespoke-apertures\.co.uk)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^ https://%1%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L,NE]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?path=$1 [L,QSA]
Make sure to test this in a new browser to avoid old cache.
Try this to redirect without www :
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L]
The website in question is: sophostechnologies.com
https://sophostechnologies.com or sophostechnologies.com works fine and loads in SSL, HOWEVER, if I type www. or https://www. in front of the url name, I get too many redirects loop error.
My .htaccess file looks like this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.sophostechnologies.com/$1 [R,L]
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.*)\.(.*)$
RewriteRule ^(.+[^/])$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}/ [L,R=301]
# Google sitemap controller
RewriteRule ^(tmp/)?sitemap.xml$ tmp/sitemap.xml [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)(\.php([0-9]*)|\.json|\.xml|\.tpl|\.phtml|\.ini|\.inc|/)$ index.php?_p=$1 [NC,QSA,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?_p=$1 [QSA,L]
Any help is appreciated.
I have a website on www.domain.com and here is the root (and only) .htaccess file
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.*)\.(css|js|htc|pdf|jpg|jpeg|gif|png|ico)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?path=$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L]
I'm basically doing rewrite on my URL's so everything is going through the index.php page.
How can I force HTTPS (SSL) on www.domain.com/login, /register and /settings? So when I try to access the http://www.domain.com/login I should be immediately redirected to https://www.domain.com/login?
I searched SO and I found for folders so if I have folder /login it would work, but not for me in this case of already rewritten URLs.
Using mod_rewrite you should be able to do something like this
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} !443
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/register
RewriteRule (.*) https://www.domain.com/register [R]
Try:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} !^443$
RewriteRule ^login$ https://www.domain.com/login [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^register$ https://www.domain.com/register [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^settings$ https://www.domain.com/settings [R=301,L]
