What is "node-waf" for node.js and how do I get it on a Windows development machine?

node-waf is a wrapper around the build system waf to simplify building of native C++ extensions for node.js. As far as I know there's not yet a replacement for windows.
But I know that some people managed to build native extensions with Vistual Studio instead.
This repository contains a windows build for contextify, needed for jsdom. Maybe you can look at how it is built and adapt that.

How to build/run Golang and SPA frameworks such as ReactJs/VueJs on the same IDE?

Just like the latest Visual Studio 2017, .NetCore2(backend) and an SPA(frontend) can be build under one command or under one Project. I think Microsoft team managed to implement the building tool for backend and frontend at the same build command.
I am looking for an IDE or a plugin or any way that can do such feat with GoLang(backend) and VueJS(frontend).

All Jetbrains products provide their official Vue.js plugin. I'm using GoLand and this plugin to achieve what you need.

trying to install websockets on windows Node.js.
I am getting native extensions require Visual Studio and Python.
My question is : Is it possible to take another compiler? Or do I really need VS (3,6GB) Download or are there alternatives, since I donĀ“t want to download that huge amount.
Linux has GGC , I suppose.
And do I need Python 2.X or Python 3.X.

You'll need visual studio in order to get the C++ compilers. You can pull down Visual Studio 2010 Express here, which is a much smaller download (694MB). For python, you'll need 2.6 or 2.7 as described on the node.js wiki on github.
Another alternate is to simply use the binaries already supplied by the node.js team. If you go this route, you won't have to compile the source yourself. From what I can tell, node should already support websockets. See a tutorial on how to set up a server using websockets here.
There are lots of ws-compatible JS-only modules which don't require C++ runtime/node/V8 headers/Waf/Python
Install node.js from pre-built package (~5mb download, includes npm), then do npm install sockjs (sockjs implements websockets server as one of available transports). Then connect using HTML5 webscockets client or using sockjs-client library.

Can I use Visual Studio to develop Mono applications?

I have developed a .NET 4.5 application using WinForms. I want my application to run not only on Windows, but also on Linux, so I decided to port it to Mono.
However, I can't find any information on how to use Visual Studio for Mono. I don't want to switch to MonoDevelop, since VS provides much of the functionality I want and I am already familiar with it.
There apparently used to be something called Mono Tools for Visual Studio, which David Lively insists works on current VS editions, but I don't want to run an extension that was deprecated 3 years ago. I don't even know where to download the extension - it redirects to Xamarin, and Xamarin seems like not what I want because while it mentions VS integration, it forces me to install a bunch of Android and Java SDKs (why?).
As far as I can see, .NET and Mono code looks fairly similar, and there are 3 main concerns:
Making VS use the Mono compiler instead of the C# compiler, so I can tell if non-Windows users can compile my source, and also get notified about missing libraries
Making IntelliSense suggest only Mono-supported things
Making the "Run" command run the application using Mono, not .NET, so I can test it correctly
Is there really no easy way of accomplishing these?
Note: I want to develop Windows and Linux desktop apps, with a WinForms GUI or equivalent only. I am not interested in mobile.
In general, you can just target .NET 4.5 and compile with Visual Studio and the resulting assembly works as-is on Mono (assuming you don't use platform-specific stuff via p/invoke, etc).
Mono's WinForms support isn't perfect though (and nobody actively works on it), so you still need to test by running the app directly on Mono. Missing APIs aren't usually the problem, it's more that the Mono implementation has different behavior/bugs.
Another alternative to WinForms might be Xwt.

Building on Windows XP, when development is on VS2012?

We're planning moving from Visual Studio 2005 to Visual Studio 2012 (Visual-C++-11).
(We would very much like to skip 2010 if we can help it, since the newer version is already there and offers a better C++ experience.)
But we've hit a little roadblock:
Our build servers still run Windows 2003r2 (all inside dedicated virtual machines), and due to messy tool support/issues, we're in no position to upgrade the build servers to a newer OS.
Developers mostly have switched to Windows7 by now, so moving the remaining Windows XP developer boxes shouldn't pose a problem.
Since VS2012 only runs on Win7 we are wondering whether we can leverage it's tools (C++ compiler, C#) and still do a full equivalent build on the W2k3 build server - after all, we don't really need a VS GUI there, just build C++ and C# projects from VS2012.
What are our options?
Will the SDK (7.1? 8?) compilers + msbuild command line get me anywhere?
In Project Property Pages, there an option "Platform Toolset" that allow you to choose compatibility of your project. So, you can work in VS2012, but built it with "VS2008 compiler"
Here is what we do:
Use CMake
CMake allows you to create build systems for your operating system. Thus we are able to use the same code within VS2005, VS2010 and Eclipse, XCode etc.
You could do something similar: Install VS2005 on your old machines and let CMake create the projects for you from the sources. On your newer machines you can use CMake to generate VS2012 Solutions (I don't know if they have 2012 support yet, because we don't use 2012 yet too).
A big pro here is: If you plan to migrate to any other IDE or even Linux you just can re-run CMake and get your source code within these environment easily compilable.
A big con: You have to start reading about CMake and create CMakeLists.txt for all your projects (might be a lot of work depending on the amount of projects, amount of source code files within each project, specific compiler options, linker options etc.)

Well. Not much came out of this question. We recently re-evaluated this issue, and I see two options (I haven't tried any yet):
Just do a full VS installation on a supported OS (Win7), zip up the whole VS+WinSDK directories (as well as the neccesary runtme DLLs that live somewhere under %WINDR%), and try if you can get that thing working on an XP based OS. Might work. Not a great idea if you ask me.
Split up the build process to distribute the build across several OS, so that we can work with tools that are only supported on one of them. -- This actually sounds more complicated than it'll be. We already run our build spread over several Jenkins jobs, so I should be able to get that to work. (And all build nodes are already VMs anyway, so adding more VMs isn't that much of an issue.)

How to run C# 4.0 app on Linux OS using mono?

I want to run my c# application with OS Linux using Mono. I am new to this cross platform migration? Please tell the procedure for doing that?

It very much depends on what type of application it is. For a console or WinForms app, it may be simple. Mono doesn't support WPF.
Well, the first think you'll need to do is install Mono of course. Then you probably want to run MoMA to determine your application's compatibility. There's a whole separate page about porting WinForms apps.
If all is well, you should just be able to run your application using:
mono MyApplication.exe
after copying the binaries over.
If your application is actually a web service or web application, you'll want to think about the various hosting options.
I suspect you'll want to read a lot of the pages on the Mono Start Page.
Check if your application is 100% compatible with Mono Framework using MoMA.
Remove or replace those unimplemented parts with Mono's implementation or third party libraries that works with Mono. Or if you think it should work fine, just execute it with Mono Framework 2.8 or higher. Better go with 2.10 which is default's profile is on 4.0.
There is an IDE, MonoDevelop that supports Web and Desktop applications. Open the project files (monodevelop supports visual studio project files) from monodevelop, compile and run.
