Is there a way to make the Content Editor (RichHtmlField) in SP2010 add newly inserted text to a paragraph (with the default paragraph style ms-rteElement-P). I have changed said css class to how I want the body text to be formatted and I want to eliminate the step of selecting the Markup Styles -> Paragraph style manually when a user starts to add content.
There is no out-of-the-box way, but you could use JavaScript to always add default content to any content editor on a page. Another way would be to create your own WebPart deriving from the Content Editor WebPart, but that sure is a lot more work.
I got an answer here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010general/thread/65152576-9432-4d55-a2e1-c798975859d5
Hi,
You have to override the PrefixStyleSheet property of the RichHtmlField control.
Here is some more information about that: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms551040.aspx
Hope this helps!

I am new to liferay and using liferay-ce-portal-7.0-ga3 i have placed a blog and able to write contents in it. i want to change the blog portlet design by adding thumbnail preview to it . My current view is it has either title,abstract and full content view. How could i customize to get blog view
You can customize Liferay's appearance through Application Display Templates (ADT). Unfortunately there's no sample for the OOTB appearances, but when you go to your site's (or the global site's) Configuration area, you can find/edit/create ADTs there. Depending on the markup and CSS, as well as your typical image size etc., the actual ADT you write would be different, thus impossible to include anything here.
The editor however, has some autocomplete and some predefined entries/fields, that should give you a starting point. E.g. when you just open a blank editor and hit the "Blog Entries" field, you'll end up with
<#-- Application display templates can be used to modify
the look of a specific application. Please use the
left panel to quickly add commonly used variables.
Autocomplete is also available and can be invoked
by typing "${". -->
<#if entries?has_content>
<#list entries as curBlogEntry>
${curBlogEntry.title}
</#list>
</#if>
You'll find what you can do with BlogsEntry in it's javadoc, make sure to follow the BlogsEntryModel superclass link as well to see more.
I'll have to leave the exercise to generate proper markup and styling to you though.
I'm trying to break my body into pre content, content, and post content so I can inject ads and what not within my articles. The only HTML field module is broken for 1.4 at the moment and I can't seem to add additional body parts to the page. I'm having to create my pre content in the body, then cut the HTML into a pre conntent text field. And do the same thing for post content. There's got to be a better way to do this. Is there any way to have more than one HTML editor field in the page editor?
As I told you in another answer, you can configure the Text field to use HTML. Just add the text field, and then expand it in the type editor. There is a drop-down where you can choose HTML.
I have a code that creates a teamsite. After that I add some web parts to wiki web part zone(rich content area). In SharePoint 2010 user can change a text layout of the rich content in page edit mode.
Is there any way to programmatically change the text layout of the rich text area? I would want to set "two columns with header"-layout after site creation has completed.
My site is created like this.
site = elevatedSite.SelfServiceCreateSite(params.....);
rootWeb = site.RootWeb;
rootWeb.ApplyWebTemplate("STS#0");
SPListItem currentItem = rootWeb.Item;
var xhtml = currentItem[SPBuiltInFieldId.WikiField] as string;
Now I can modify the xhtml string and save it back to the page. I have tried to change it so that it contains exatly the same html structure which have created by sharepoint itself, when changing the text layout. After that change, actually it is not recognized as "two columns with header"-layout in sharepoint. It is still default one-column layout. Is there anybody who knows is it possible to change the text layout of the rich text area programmatically?
I found answer from here http://donalconlon.wordpress.com/2010/05/04/sp2010-creating-a-wiki-page-using-the-om/. SharePoint stores the information about used layout to the hidden span-element in wiki page.
For example, this presents two column layout without the header or footer.
<span id="layoutsData" style="display: none">false,false,2</span>
first false = no header
second false = no footer
2 = two columns
I have been looking for some information on doing the same thing. I found this blog post that checks out the page, edits the content then publish and approves it.
SharePoint 2010 change page content data through Object Model / API – Console Application
If you need to modify pure HTML content, its better to use cutom IHttpHandler (wrapped in dll) and connect it to SharePoint via web.config. Is is also allowing to modify dynamic content like AJAX responses.
I am playing with Orchard CMS. The problem is that comments are formatted as plain text and even <p> tags are not generated.
How to make possible a basic formatting such as <p> or may be <b>, <i>?
You override the view ListOfComments.cshtml within your own theme, then you can change what is output to the ui.
Orchard allows you to override any view/shape within your theme, hence allowing you to basically do whatever you like.
I'm customizing a NewForm.aspx page and I've created a few new SharePoint:FormFields in the form of textboxes. I'm looking to customize the height of these boxes on a case-by-case basis, but I can't figure it out.
I've looked into DisplaySize, but that only controls the width of a specific textboxe, and I've seen adding in:
<style>
.ms-long{width:100px;}
</style>
but that changes every SharePoint:FormField size, not just one.
Find the element in the complete html output, and use the id rather than the class as the css selector. If you can't find a suitable selector or you need to use selectors not supported in ie, you can use javascript/jquery to find and modify individual controls.
If you are customizing the NewForm.aspx, and you want to customize the look of the controls, you should also customize the CSS by using your own .css file. That may or may not include a customized master page.
I take it your a user of SharePoint Designer to be editing NewForm.aspx. Personally the route I would go down is to design a custom text box field and give it the desired size that way. Might not be what you want, but it's one way to do it.
