Is it possible to show breadcrumbs based on the URL. For example if the user hits example.com it means home->test1->test and if user hits example1.com it means home->test2->test. Is it possible to control the breadcrumbs visibility. Any one guide me how to do this.
A very nice implementation of A very customizable breadcrumb can be found in the Zen theme. If you already use a sub-theme of Zen then you're in luck. You;ll only probably have to configure it and you're good to go.
Options for the breadcrumb: each theme has it's own settings. So you'll need to add the options you'll want for youre breadcrumb (On/Off, separator, home link On/Off etc.) in a themes/your_theme_name/theme-settings.php file. Here you'll find a starting point. For inspiration check out the theme-settings.php (for defining the options) and zen.info file (for providing the default values for the options).
Theme the breadcrumb: then you'll have to implement your_theme_name_breadcrumb function in template.php. Again look in the file with the same name in the Zen theme for an example.
Showing the breadcrumb: last step is to make sure that your breadcrumb is visible and you do this by printing the $breadcrumb variable. Look in the page.tpl.php file template for the default implementation and customize it as you like.

Custom breadcrumbs haven't tried it personally but sounds promising if you're looking for customizable breadcrumb trails for node types.

I am new to Liferay, and I still don't know the difference between the various 'kind' of Liferays.
This Liferay is what I am talking about.
I understand that you have to create a page first, and then add components (fragments) in it.
I also understand that you can go to fragments, and create a custom fragment with a custom CSS, and then import it into your page.
However, what I want to do is have a global CSS that I can use for all fragments inside a page, rather than having to add CSS for each fragment.
Is that possible, and if so, how?
I know I can use the 'style-books' which apply to an entire page, however, I don't know how to customize them, and it doesn't seem that that's even possible.
To avoid coding, you can use the css additional textbox provide by theme settings.

I am new to liferay and using liferay-ce-portal-7.0-ga3 i have placed a blog and able to write contents in it. i want to change the blog portlet design by adding thumbnail preview to it . My current view is it has either title,abstract and full content view. How could i customize to get blog view
You can customize Liferay's appearance through Application Display Templates (ADT). Unfortunately there's no sample for the OOTB appearances, but when you go to your site's (or the global site's) Configuration area, you can find/edit/create ADTs there. Depending on the markup and CSS, as well as your typical image size etc., the actual ADT you write would be different, thus impossible to include anything here.
The editor however, has some autocomplete and some predefined entries/fields, that should give you a starting point. E.g. when you just open a blank editor and hit the "Blog Entries" field, you'll end up with

I have two pages sitting in a folder named "Auxiliary Nav". The pages have aliases set so 'Auxuliary-Nav' doesn't show in their URLs. I thought all was good until I looked at my breadcrumbs. Ideally, the breadcrumb shouldn't show "Auxiliary Nav".
I'm using the Breadcrumbs web part on a master page, but can't see a setting for this. I had also thought about just using the CSS list menu, but not sure if this would help me here.
Turn off "Show in navigation" for "Auxiliary Nav".
The default pagination in drupal is great, but the text links are used
<<first <previous 6 7 next> last>>
But I need to use forward and backward image buttons instead of text links. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Depending on what portions of the pager you're interested in replacing with images, you may be able to use CSS background images, without having to override the theme function. However, in the default pager output, not all the links may have unique classes.
That said, if you're using Drupal's default pager, you can override the theme_pager function to add your image links.
If you're using the Views module, you may be using a different theming function. When in doubt, you should be able to use the Theme Developer module to find which function or template file is outputting the part of the page you're interested in theming. Theme Developer will also tell you what suggestions you can use to override the output.
from the question above, I thought it would be relatively easy but i can not find any documentation on on how to add styles to the 'styles' drop down menu. can anyone push me in the right direction?
The styles dropdown is automatically populated based on classes found in your theme's typography.css file. To add classes, just ensure that they are defined there. Alternatively, if you want to give the classes friendlier names or to remove some classes from the list, you can explicitly define the styles that you want listed by putting this in your _config.php file.

It's a feature provided by TinyMCE, the WYSIWYG editor component, and this line is just setting the theme_advanced_styles setting of TinyMCE when used by the CMS. This thread on the TinyMCE site also discusses it.
Also note Markus' answer below: editor.css needs to be in the theme css folder and include the typography.css.
The answer of #Sam Minnée only works, if the editor.css is also in the theme css folder and includes the typography.css.

Check the file permissions on your mythemes/css/editor.css file. It should be readable by the webserver user.
