Online tool for low bandwidth simulation? - browser

I'm looking for an online tool that will allow me to enter a URL and a connection speed (56k, DSL, cable modem, etc) in order to test the performance of a web site under various speeds.
Any help much appreciated. I've tried sloppy (does not work for me behind firewall), and "Firefox Throttle" (not compatible with the latest version of Firefox).
I'm testing from a Windows 7 based PC.
Thanks in advance for the help.

If it doesn't need to be an online tool you can use fiddler to simulate modem speed for example. This guide shows how to set up the speed you wish to test for.

there is a more up to date blogpost on the fiddler technique: http://www.campusmvp.net/blog/simulating-a-slow-connection-with-fiddler

Port scanning germany

In uni, we are right now doing network security. I live in germany. Can anyone tell me if there are any networks, that i may scan for testing/learning purposes?
Are there such networks/URLs ? I do not want to offend anyone or get into any legal trouble. I am looking for a perfectly legal way, other than scanning my own machine.
Best regards
I would not suggest you to scan any server from the internet. For learning purposes, its truly recommended that you create your own VMs and your own private network to play. Search on internet witch OS are most used for server and used them in stock or updated version and have fun ;).
Is there some hack me websites available, but again, read a lot their licenses and agreements and terms. Justo Google It "Hack me".

Are there any resources dedicated to emulator development?

I am interested in developing my own emulators but can't find any resources on how to do this.
I have been looking everywhere online and there don't seem to be any websites dedicated to developing emulators. I have looked on Amazon for books on the subject and nothing relevant comes up.
Does anybody know of any books on emulator development?
Are there any sites dedicated to emulator development (the same way OSDev Wiki is dedicated to operating system development)?
Or is emulation something I find my own way to do depending upon the device being emulated?
Thanks in advance for any help anybody can offer.
I can't provide a ton of hard resources however, check out http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Emulators/Information_and_Papers/
other high level academic and computer science publication would also be good and here's a few interesting reads:

turn off or stop different devices in linux

I need to measure different devices power consumption in Linux. So I plan to measure the power consumption difference when the devices are on and off. But I don't know where to start?
Well, turning off devices might not be feasible only if you're sure about that you're not using that device. There are tools which can help you to find which application is consuming more power (https://01.org/powertop/) but, I'm not sure whether there's any tools for devices. powertop can help you to identify which app is consuming much power and can help you find out what to do. Hope it'll help!

NFC Chipset evaluation tool

I need to develope a NFC chipset evaluation tool. i need to connect the NFC board (that includes the NFC chip) to PC (running in Windows). then i need to get all the data of the chip to my PC using a software tool. this is the first time i am trying to do it. i need some advises regarding the first steps. i suppose, i would use a TCP-IP protocol to connect with the chipset. but how exactly it would work? for example, there is a USB-tester... http://www.vconsole.com/client/?page=page&id=13. my tool will be similar to this.
i also need to validate in the low level entry, for the framework.
i need to have a process description for the development of the tool. what are the steps?
thanks for your advices.
You cannot use TCP/IP over a USB/I2C connection. Most test boards come with software that you can use to connect to the board. What you are asking is a very broad question. If you are trying to write your own question, or hook it up to Excel to run tests with, you are progressing down a very time consuming path. People here are willing to help you figure out a question you are stuck on, but not to do all the hard work for you.
Like I said, you are starting on a BIG project, and will need to research A LOT. Then I'd recommend asking specific questions rather than very general questions.
As far as where to start, I'd start by writing down everything you want to know, and then start figuring out how to get each individual piece.

Simulation tool for Bluetooth

Can any body suggest me the best simulation tool now a days for Bluetooth Networks. in order to test various algorithoms about Routing and Roaming issue.
There are two that I know of: NS-2 (with the UCBT: Bluetooth Extension) and QualNet. Of those, NS2 is probably the most used.
There is ns3 those ns2 is still the most widely used simulator. The network simulation 2 and 3 are opensource projects with lots of implementations and protocol models already available to you. In such case all you need to do is, write the code of your network setup on a tcl file and execute. Voila, you have ur output on the trace file.
Qualnet is propitiatory and very expensive to license, but is definitely more easy to use. Also the support you get from their team is great.
So if you have the dough to get qualnet, I would recommend that else opensource projects rule... :)
Is it possible in Matlab to do simulation for Bluetooth algorithoms
