I am new to drupal and I want to replace the search provided by drupal core with custom google search. How can I inteagrate google cse in drupal6?
No, seriously, you should try google for this first.
"google cse drupal" gives the very first result - a link to google_cse module.
you need to install and enable this module and follow instructions.
I suggest you to try installing 6.x-dev, because it is relatively fresh. If it has some critical bugs - you can use it as a starter point and general idea of how to implement cse at your site.
Regards, Slava.

A basic question on Endeca I suppose. The scenario is we have a commerce website that running on say, ATG Search (or any other search) & we need to move to Endeca. Is it possible to just use the guided selling aspect of Endeca or is it mandatory to use the experience manager also?
A second question, if we have to use experience manager then does it mean that the page layouts of the current site would have to change or can they be retained?
The easiest way to answer this would be to speak to your Oracle Account Manager as they will be able to confirm whether you have/should license Experience Manager. Considering that, even in the most recent release of Endeca (now called Oracle Guided Navigation) you can download the Tools And Frameworks module without including Experience Manager, you do not have to use Experience Manager.
As far as your second question is concerned, if you did use Experience Manager, you don't have to push all of your page layouts through this. The biggest benefit in using Experience Manager is that it gives you more control over how you merchandise the different levels in your taxonomy but you can also do that manually.
Is it possible to just use the guided selling aspect of Endeca
Yes. (Tools And Frameworks comes in two flavors. One, with Experience Manager, and another one without Experience Manager, which is also called as Guided Search). Use of Experience Manager is NOT mandatory.
If we have to use experience manager then does it mean that the page
layouts of the current site would have to change or can they be
retained?
Yes, the page layouts of the current site should be adjusted.
Google Docs have a feature "Web Clipboard" to help users easily copy and paste cross google documents. (you can refer to https://drive.googleblog.com/2010/02/a-web-clipboard-for-google-docs.html)
But I am wondering that if there's any Web API or official way to access those API.
I try to find in Google Document List APi (https://developers.google.com/google-apps/documents-list/), I can't find any related stuff.
The original goal for me is I want to copy some screenshot/images/text from my Windows OS.
And I want to paste into my GoogleDoc Document.
But it can't be done unless the screenshot/image/text is update/upload into Web Clipboard.
I keep finding any related integrated tools or extension, but I still can't find anyone.
Could someone give me some suggestions?
There is no official way to access this API, sorry.
There is clearly an API of sorts, just not documented. I'd suggest looking at extensions like this one and trying to reverse-engineer the protocol so you can see what endpoints it is calling.
But it sounds like a lot of work.
Does anyone know of a complete, downloadable/copyable example of a WiX installer that allows the user to select an existing website when installing a web application?
I'm trying to get this working and, after seeing that it seems to be a significant piece of work, I'd like to get an example running first so that I have a working project to base my own work on.
I found this (code is pasted as images) and this (can't get it running).
Just to confirm... Is it really as much work as the sites above suggest to allow a user to select the site to install to? Am I missing a trick?
I found this blog post that does the custom action in C# and has a complete downloadable sample. Pretty easy to follow.
Yes, that would be quite a bit of work to do it in WiX. I don't typically give a user this much choice. You might just want to do it as an after install configuration step if it's important to you.
I want to write a mobile app which takes a picture and searches google images for similar pictures and then displays the results.
However, with google image search I can only search for text strings, and with the search API it seems there's no possibility to search for similar pictures; this feature seems to be available only through the web interface.
Any idea how I can solve this problem?
thanks,
Christoph
There is a way you can do this now, but its not officially supported, and there are probably some restrictions on the number of queries you can perform. Update
http://images.google.com/searchbyimage?hl=en&biw=1060&bih=766&gbv=2&site=search&image_url={{URL To your image}}&sa=X&ei=H6RaTtb5JcTeiALlmPi2CQ&ved=0CDsQ9Q8
There is also a google image search API, which is being officially deprecated, but it will work for now.
http://code.google.com/apis/imagesearch/
The Google Vision API.
https://cloud.google.com/vision/
This is very simple and easy and powerful.
I had done something like that recently for a mobile app, this is the code for it, it uses google search by image feature, and returns the "best guess" or the whole page
you could use that and modify it to do what you want, but once you get the best guess of the image you could search for any image with that title, etc
https://github.com/hbattat/search-by-image
I don't think it's possible. If you click the link to find similar images from the images result page you get a link with the original query included:
google.com/images?q=ORIGINAL_QUERY&imgtype=i_similar&sa=...
If you remove that GET param manually, the search does not work, it only shows the images search form.
I dont think it is possible to find similar images with google if you do not know what's on it.
I was looking for an answer to this some time ago, and found tineye. You have to pay for it, though. Currently (Jan 2012) USD300 for 5K searches, USD1.5K for 30K searches...
SerpAPI enables to search through Google Images and returns a clean JSON.
URL example:
https://serpapi.com/search.json?q=Apple&tbm=isch&ijn=0
Documentation:
https://serpapi.com/images-results
This service is integrated with most of the programming languages: python, php, java, golang, nodejs...
Google limit the number of search per day. but this service provides unlimited searches...
Is there any way to add google search results into your site such that the results appear under your domain (and the page doesn't get redirected to google.com)? I know about google cse but this is not a free solution. Is paying for CSE the only way? Thanks.
Use the Google AJAX Search API (my emphasis):
The Google AJAX Search API lets you
put Google Search in your web pages
with JavaScript. You can embed a
simple, dynamic search box and display
search results in your own web pages
or use the results in innovative,
programmatic ways.
You just need JavaScript - nothing server-side.
You could use Google Search API.
You could also query Google search engine through a Web Service. Here's the WSDL and here's the FAQ. But I think this will be discontinued in favor of the first suggestion I gave.
I've never used this but if you're into python check out Python Library for Google Search from Peteris Krumins’ blog.
What about this? http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxsearch/web.html
And there should be even API for PHP etc.
