Cognos8. UT-DEF-0114 Cannot open lock file - cognos

I have cognos8.4.1 installed. I have authentication defined(LDAP). Everything was working fine, now suddenly I am facing a strange error while executing reports.
UT-DEF-0114 Cannot open lock file: '../bin/../data/cqe/RTModels/URLID1d1XMTk4MToxMzA5NTA3OTk1ODQzOjUyMjQ1o1X1e20111i071i01T101l131l151j9400000Z.rtm.LCK'
Can any one please help me out with this?

I would suggest:
Shutdown cognos
Remove the lock file
Restart cognos
If you're on a unix / linux system, you might want to look at the owner of these files (and make sure you're running cognos as the intended user)

Python script works for one user, but not another on same machine

Another team created python scripts within our organization for my team to run. Up until two weeks ago, we all ran them without any problems. Then one day, some users have been unable to run them successfully on the same machine.
All users are admins with LUA disabled. All users should have the same permissions.
The complicating factor here is the team created a "framework" which generates code from a combination of the framework, and an excel file for the tests being run. This prevents me from stepping through the code and finding where it's specifically failing. Beyond that, the same exact script runs on the same machine when another user trying to run it.
Specifically, in the script, it appears that when the affected users are running the script, IEDriverserver doesn't appear to open. No errors are given.
Is there any environmental variables that could be specific to users that would cause this? Even a direction to look would be extremely helpful.
Does it always fail in the same part of the Python code? Does opening the Excel file have anything to do with it, perhaps? I mean, if someone has the Excel file open on a network drive, and someone else is trying to write to the file, i'm pretty sure this will trigger an error, unless the Excel file is 'shared'. Just a couple thoughts.
I encountered the similar issue today. I happen to solve it by unset PYTHONHOME and PYTHONPATH. Not sure if this helps.

Every Xpage app I open in designer spews 1000s of java errors

I just came back from MWLUG and started to open up some Xpages DBs to work on, when all of the sudden I am getting 1000s of errors like this:
I googled the issue and I believe it has something to do with the path of the org.eclipse.pde.core.requiredPlugins.
When I opened up the packages and looked at fixing an error I got this:
The problem is that I do not know what the correct setting for this should be, or how to fix it. The apps run fine, but obviously something is wrong.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I may know more about the problem. In designer when I go to File==>Application==Application Management this is what I see:
A different install has several components under it.
I updated my designer and client and admin to 9.0.1 FP4 last week. That is the last thing I remember doing before this messed up (along with installing the Debug Toolbar).
How can I fix my designer install?
Strange indeed, you should check your hard drive for bad sectors.
Looks like a broken DDE in general. The plugin XML file maybe broken so the app manager doesn't show you the plugins installed. Therefor I assume DDE starts very quickly, right? Because nothing is loaded.
I had this before and my "solution" was:
de-install DDE and Fixpacks
delete workspace folder
re-install DDE and Fixpacks
re-install plugins ad setup workig sets
This is a pity but at least you get a clean install. You don't have to delete everything (e.g. the DATA folder)

AutoHotkey Run command issue in Windows 8.1

this is my first time on such a prestidigious site, so please welcome me by assisting me. I am doing independent development and am primarily a music designer. So that is why I may not sound like a real pro coder but nevertheless truly love creating my music through automative processes.
My present issue is this:
Windows 8.1 Pro
AutoHotkey 1.0.48.5 32bit (running as Admin)
Everytime I attempt to use the command 'RUN' with an .ahk target, I get the expected result except that the .ahk residing folder is opened by MS Explorer. I suspect that something like the fact that AutoHokey is an unsigned app, windows does not want it to run flawlessly. I am now trying a number of Administrative Tool Services disabling, but with no success yet.

I tried the 'Comspec' approach as well as running an .ahk from within a batchfile, but the .ahk always get intercepted whenever it contains a 'RUN' command requesting an .ahk target.

You are using outdated version of AutoHotkey which is more than 5 years old. Always use AutoHotkey and its documenatation from http://ahkscript.org/ (current uptodate version, new official website)! AutoHotkey and its documentation from autohotkey.com is outdated and you may have some problems using them!
One thing to try if you only have this problem on win 8 is to Enable interaction with administrative programs http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/70449-enable-interaction-with-administrative-programs/
That script modifies the executable file's embedded manifest, then creates and installs a self-signed certificate and uses it to sign the file. The executable will not run on any other system, unless you install the certificate used to sign the file.
But lets see some script code that way we have something to test with and can better help you out...

powershell IQY dump script fails

I'm currently working on automating a powershell script to make a dump of a small DB.
The database is accessible through a company Sharepoint and I am leveraging an IQY file exported from said Sharepoint to read the database contents.
When I run the script manually (i.e. calling it from the command line), it works with no issues, but when I try and start the script from Task Scheduler, the following exception is raised:
System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException
the line that is generating the exception is:
$iqy = $xl.Workbooks.Open($query, 2, $true)
Where $xl is a new Excel.Application ComObject, created correctly and $query is a string containing the full file path of the iqy file.
As for my configuration, I'm trying to run my script on a Windows Server 2008R2, using a local administrator user (same user that is supposed to launch the scheduled script), which is also authorized to access the Sharepoint. I'm running Powershell 3.0. I'm not loading any Sharepoint-related snapins.
The only answers I found poking around hinted at granting "Trust" to the IQY file location and the Sharepoint itself in Excel. That did not help.
The Exception also seems to point at a sharepoint issue, but since the script runs fine when started manually, I cannot understand how it could be anything to do with Sharepoint.
Am I missing some intricacy of the Task Scheduler?

Never mind, I seem to have found an answer.
If anyone is encountering the same issue, it appear the Excel Com Object has a bug that does not allow it to run from the Task Scheduler if you set it to run regardless of whether the user is logged in.
To circumvent that create the following 2 folders on the machine where the script is supposed to run:
(32Bit, always)
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Dektop
(64Bit)
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Desktop
After creating the folders, it worked as expected.

Windows XP Pro Service runs using User logon, not using Local System

I wrote a Windows Service using VS 2005 and C# on WinXP Pro SP3. It starts another program which runs to completion and then exits.
The service is installed using installutil and serviceInstaller. It is built release and put into the C:\Program Files\MyService directory. The serviceProcessInstaller Account is set to LocalSystem in it's Properties.
If I set the Log On to Local system I get an 'Access Denied' error (using a try-catch block), but if I set the Log On to my account with the correct password, it runs perfectly.
What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions will be very welcome.
It will be useful to know where the access denied error comes from. Since you say it is from a try/catch block, I assume it is your code that handles it. That would mean that your service is starting just fine, but has problems doing its job.
It could be environment related problem, since the environment for LocalSystem is different than your user account. Also, it could be that the program it starts is not executing properly and it is returning the error.
Without more info, it is just speculation. What is that other program doing? Where is the error occurring? Why don't you debug it and find which part returns the access denied error?
Agreed, it should be on SO. That aside, check your file/folder permission sand ensure System does in fact have the necessary rights. Do the same for the registry keys. The System event log should give you some clues.

The error orrurs at the Process.Start() call.
The file and directory security shows Everyone has full access to the directories and the executable.
FOUND IT! I had added a user name and password to the ProcessStartInfo object, thinking that it would be useful when the target program tries to get to the database. Oops! When I took that stuff out, the target runs jult like it should.
