I'm wondering how I can access files on a network share from iOS devices? I know that I can discover network shares using Bonjour protocol but how can I get a list of files&folders and download files? Should I use Apple Filing Protocol Is there any classes for this in iOS SDK?

I want to develop a FirefoxOS privileged app that can send text messages to nearby devices.
Android app can use Bluetooth or Wifi P2P. But FirefoxOS privileged apps cannot use Bluetooth/Wifi API. These are only available for certified apps.
Privileged apps can use TCP socket API. Is this the only way?
Is there any way to get available IP addresses on LAN?
#Kazhik, unfortunately right now, that is the only way to go. And the explanation for that is that by using the socket API you can implement any protocol on top of TCP, such as IMAP, IRC, POP, HTTP, etc., or even build your own to sustain any specific needs you could have.
Since certified apps can only be included by the oem, access to Bluetooth or WiFi information API aren't a viable option now.
At today's date (September 18, 2015) the WebIDE supports installing certified apps in older Firefox OS versions like 1.3 and in physical devices.
I tried installing the Gaia test apps (these are certified) in one Alcatel OT FireC and everything worked perfectly fine ;)
DNS-SD (part of the Zeroconf specification) allows you to broadcast and receive "advertisements" from other devices on the local network. That requires UDP and TCP permissions, which means a "privileged" app, as you thought. That's not a problem, unless you need to distribute the app outside of the Firefox Marketplace.

I need to develop a project based on Bluetooth in mobile. Since I am new to j2me I studied some of the articles and run the project until the discovery of devices and services. I need to communicate between devices and transfer the desired files. I search code for client server communication through Bluetooth and got it but I didn't know how to run those code and implement further.
I have go through articles and I can run client server communication. Now I need to transfer the file and communicate to the user which was beyond the limit of my mobile through the another mobile which was within my limit.

It's possible to install J2ME Midlets in the Nokia 2660 cellphone? The installation of the Midlet is via bluetooth or physical cable?
If testing for a app that'll be available for public download you should test OTA (Over The Air). This way you'll be testing it in the same way your users will be using it.
OTA basically means put-it-on-a-server-for-download. You'll need a server setup with the correct MIME types; but that's a different question.

I need to make an app in J2ME that can be able to read a SMS and then print it on an epson tm-p60 printer(ESC/POS emulation) via bluetooth.
i looked at the epson supprt site but the only ADK/drivers they provide are for:
1.Sun Java2 SDK Standard Edition Version 1.4.2_10
2.Sun Java2 SDK Standard Edition Version 1.4.2_04
3.Sun Java SE Development Kit 6 Update 3
so i don't know how am i gonna be able to use ESC/POS commands inJ2ME.
I'm a bit clueless on how i will approach this project.. plus w/c would be better to use for this project? Netbeans or Eclipse?

SPP (Serial Port Profile) over Bluetooth means using an RFCOMM connection to send and receive data as if it were a physical serial connection. This is part of JSR 82, so you will be able to develop only on handsets that support this JSR.
You need to:
Figure out how to discover bluetooth devices, and scan for SPP services on a discovered device, then connect to one of those services, using one of the many JSR 82 tutorials out there.
Then send ESC/POS protocol data over that connection -- I assume you have the protocol specification available? Google turned up this application programming guide.

JSR-82 Bluetooth API support L2CAP protocol, RFCOMM and OBEX profile. I don't know detail of Bluetooth basic printing profile (BPP) but, if you look into basic printing profile document you can find that BPP built on OBEX profile.
I can't find open source project for BPP on JSR-82. Please try to search it, but if you can't find one you might need to write your own.
Midlet using HttpConnection to connect a webservice application.
A mobile can use a wireless broadband to connect to internet or can use internet facility provided by the network provider i.e. Vodafone or Virgin which is I think known as GPRS. Correct me if my understanding is wrong.
Now my question is when the midlet will run which connectivity it will use? Secondly do I need to code differently for midlet to use GPRS or it doesn't matter?
I deployed my application on Nokia E65 and it asked me which connection to use. The mobile had both wireless lan and provider GPRS active.
On IPhone the preference is for wireless lan. (Not related to J2me)
There is no standard Access Point Selection APi in J2ME.
That means the MIDlet itself can't decide whether to use Wi-Fi or GPRS.
Some phones will allow the user to change application settings in order to force a MIDlet to use a specific network when it is available (and maybe prompt the user for an alternative when the preferred network is not available).
This is mostly because there is no standard way to describe a wireless network that contains enough information : QoS, cost per byte downloaded and uploaded, average bitrate, ping time...
In most cases, the logic to automatically choose a network without those information would be too complicated and not reliable enough.
Manual Access Point selection is the only way to put the user in charge of the cost of data transfer, so far.
It depends on the client mobile phone. On some models, there is only one GPRS configuration that is used by all applications including midlets, On some others the configuration used for browsing can be different than the one used by midlets.
