I recently upgraded to apex 4.0.1
but when I access 127.0.0.1:8080/apex and login it the page doesn't respong
and another thing ... the page is supposed to have some photos but it doesn't appear
so when I view the source code of the page and open any of the JS files / photos directories / css files
I get this
404 Not found
Not found
The requested URL /i/css/apex_4_0.css was not found on this server
I have ubuntu 11.04
There's two steps to the upgrade. The first is (mostly) installing the APEX_040000 objects. The second uploads a bunch of files into the database.
Make sure you carried out the second step correctly as documented
It is two steps because, if you are using the Oracle Apex Listener or HTTP Server then you'd put those files on a file system somewhere, rather than in the database.
It sounds like your config file is messed up in some way. Check the configuration to verify that it is directing traffic on port 8080 to the correct directory. Here is a link to how to find the Apache config file and how to read it:

The only other thing I can think of is that the directory does not exist. Maybe it got deleted or moved.

I installed Joomla on a website on Windows Azure. After trying to update the Joomla version or uploading a new template I get the following error
JFolder::create: Could not create directory
Warning: Failed to move file!
For me it's clear that the problem is regarding permissions, so the question is, how can it be solved?
Since the Azure architecture (basically the replication) makes you difficult to just change the permissions of the folders, and it is not possible to modify the folder permissions on a Windows server using FTP, I feel like I'm on a dead end.
It should definitely be possible. When installing a component JFolder::create is called several times.
I think that you are passing a wrong path or something to the actual call. Have you tried a simple test using the native mkdir()?
I am tearing my hair out with a file weird file upload issue that I have never run into before. For some reason I’m unable to upload images via the file manager (both in the file manager itself and if I upload with a custom field using the “file” fieldtype). Strangely, if I add files directly to any of the file upload directories, and sync the files, everything works fine.
After selecting the file and hitting “upload file” (see 01_choose_file.jpg) the modal window displays the CP homepage in an iframe (see 02_upload_progress.jpg).
Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone know how I can start troubleshooting this?
Background Info:
I’m running EECMS v2.5.2 - Build Date: 20120606 in MAMP (only 2 out of 15 sites I have set up locally are not working)
I have tried uploading images/files using the latest versions of Chrome, Chrome Canary, Safari, and Firefox (OS X 10.7.5)
This issue is showing up on the two latest sites I’ve started dev’ing locally on, no other site (locally or otherwise)
Things I’ve done:
Checked Apache/PHP error logs; they don’t show anything
Confirmed file upload paths and file upload directory settings are correct – I can sync files that i manually move into the various file upload directories
Permissions are fine; image manipulations and thumbnail creation work fine if I manually add files to the upload directories
Tested various other 2.5.2 installs I dev on locally and they work fine (settings on these two new sites are identical to sites that work)
Only a handful of native add-ons are enabled
“Apply XSS Filtering to uploaded files?” setting Yes or No does not make a difference

I have sorted this out. I went back through to make sure I disabled all third party add-ons and I had forgotten to uninstall the "Quickee" extension http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/quickee. For now that seems to be the culprit.
I've submitted the bug to Matt (the developer) and it should be patched up soon.
The ExpressionEngine filemanager sends out a AJAX POST request to the following URL:
http://YOUR_ADMIN_CP_URL?S=0&D=cp&C=content_files_modal&M=upload_file
Have you tried loading that URL yourself? You should get a page like this
But maybe EE is trying to POST to a different URL. You can find it by uploading a large file and while it's uploading using Firebug and in the Network tab at the bottom of the list you will find the URL EE is posting to
I am writing a website using Railo. My code is to be deployed on a Railo Server running on Tomcat, overlayed on a regular Apache+PHP server.
I need to send all requests to http://subdomain.myserver.co.uk/ and its child files to the directory /public_html/railo/tomcat/webapps/ROOT/subdomain/ directory.
I defined a subdomain in cPanel, with the document root as /public_html/railo/tomcat/webapps/ROOT/subdomain/, but still requests to http://subdomain.myserver.co.uk/ display files in /public_html/railo/tomcat/webapps/ROOT/. I can view my files if I request http://subdomain.myserver.co.uk/subdomain/
I've been fiddling with the .htaccess files for quite some time now, but I'm stuck
Is there any way I can do what I'm trying to achieve, or am I resigned to get those pages using http://subdomain.myserver.co.uk/subdomain/

I would also personally recommend against putting your site files in ROOT/sitedir/ because the ROOT directory is already configured for localhost, and making a subdirectory into another site will cause overlapping host configs in the WEB-INF directories.
Instead, just use whatever the default is for your control panel, and update your Tomcat server.xml file to point to the directory that your control panel naturally puts sites in. This will make your Railo site and your control panel work very smoothly together.

If you want your tomcat application to serve at example.com and not at example.com/application then you need to deploy your application at /ROOT and not at /application. This will make it the "default web application" so it'll be able to serve directly from example.com.

Cherouvim's answer didn't work for me. Eventually I ended up putting my entire application in the ROOT directory
So, I decided to try to break my website...I googled my site by typing in site:mysite.com/whatever and behold, all of the users uploaded files were available for view under a specific directory.
What kind of script/ counter measure should I use to block these files from being viewed? I already have a script that checks the path and the logged in status, however this doesn't seem to be working. I've looked all over for solutions...but I can't quite find one. I'm using ColdFusion 8.
This isn't a ColdFusion issue so much as a web server configuration issue.
You should either:
configure your web server not to show a directory of files when using a URL without a filename (e.g., http://www.example.com/files/)
drop a blank default web document (index.html, index.htm, default.htm, index.cfm, whatever) into that directory so that it displays that document rather than the list of files. If you use index.cfm, it'll fire your Application.cfm/cfc in your file path and use whatever other security you've built.
(or, better, do both)
The best way to secure your file listings and the files themselves is to store them in another folder outside of the Web site root folder. You can then serve them up using CFDIRECTORY and CFCONTENT. The pages that display the files can check your access controls and only serve the files to those allowed to see them.
I'm using multiple computers for development and I want to be able to store my files in my dropbox folder. I went to change the physical path in IIS from c:\inetpup\wwwroot to the dropbox folder but I get this error:
The requested page cannot be accessed
because the related configuration data
for the page is invalid.
I couldn't find the config file so I was wondering if anyone had done this before or whether there a better way to sync everything nicely across several PCs?
I tried it (IIS 7.5, Win 7) and it should work just fine to let your physical path of your web look at your dropfox folder. I would guess your web.config file generally contains malformed XML (see KB942055).
I'd suggest, try to map it to an empty folder just with an index.html file and see if this error still occurs.
As a workaround, I guess you can put Dropbox in your wwwroot folder and set up a virtual directory that points to Dropbox. However, there are some security issues that may hinder you from doing so. I come across a nice tutorial on how to set up Dropbox to IIS as FTP Publishing. Hope it helps.
