I'm new to drupal, and very new to panels. I have a custom module which displays rss feed items based on user taxonomy. It displays the correct info as a block, but it needs to be on the users' dashboard page, which uses panels. When I try to insert it, it is always blank.
The code inserts a default view I already created, showing all feed items (1_feeds_defaults_feed_items) into a block. I can't edit it to work in a panel. I imagine that there are 10 different things I may have done wrong, but have tried every permutation I can think of.
<?php
//.this function generates a block and calls the second
//function for the content of this block
function custom_block($op = 'list', $delta = 0, $edit = array()) {
switch ($op) {
case 'list':
$block[0]['info'] = 'Custom View';
$block[2]['cache'] = BLOCK_NO_CACHE;
return $block;
break;
case 'view':
switch ($delta) {
case 0:
$block['subject'] = '';
$block['content'] = custom_userfeeds() ;
break;
}
return $block;
}
}
function custom_userfeeds() {
//finds the user id from argument on user page.
//You can also find the user id the way the page you linked me to did,
//but if you do it the way I am below it would allow admins
//to view other users feeds
$uid = arg(1);
//loads the profile node -- 'profile' is the profile content type.
$node = content_profile_load('profile', $uid);
//find the terms associated with the user's profile
if ($node && $node->taxonomy) {
foreach($node->taxonomy as $term) {
$terms[] = $term->tid;
}
}
//embeds a view with those terms passed to it.
View display is something like block_1 or page_1
if($terms) {
$t = implode('+',$terms);
return views_embed_view("1_feeds_defaults_feed_items","page_1", $t);
}
}
Here is how I fixed it in a view:
-Add Argument -> Taxonomy -> Taxonomy Term ID
-Provide default argument
-PHP Code
-PHP argument code:
global $user;
$query = "SELECT tid FROM {term_user} WHERE uid = %d";
$result = db_query($query, $user->uid);
if ($result) {
$terms = array();
while ($term = db_fetch_array($result)) {
$terms[] = $term['tid'];
}
if ($terms) {
$termargs = implode("+", $terms);
return $termargs;
}
}
else {
return FALSE;
}
-Check "Allow multiple terms per argument."

In Silverstripe 4 I have a
DataObject 'PublicationObject',
a 'PublicationPage' and
a 'PublicationPageController'
PublicationObjects are displayed on PublicationPage through looping a PaginatedList. There is also a Pagination, showing the PageNumbers and Prev & Next - Links.
The Detail of PublicationObject is shown as 'Dataobject as Pages' using the UrlSegment.
If users are on the Detail- PublicationObject i want them to get back to the PublicationPage (the paginated list) with a Back - Link.
Two situations:
The user came from PublicationPage
and
The User came from a Search - Engine (Google) directly to the
DataObject- Detail.
I have done this like so:
$parentPage = Page::get()->Filter(array('UrlSegment' => $request->param('pageID')))->First();
$back = $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'];
if ((isset($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']) && !empty($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']))) {
if (strtolower(parse_url($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'], PHP_URL_HOST)) != strtolower($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'])) {
// referer not from the same domain
$back = $parentPage->Link();
}
}
Thats not satisfying.
Question:
How do i get the Pagination - Link ( e.g: ...publicationen?start=20 ) when we are on the Detail - DataObject? How can we find the Position of the current Dataobject in that paginatedList in correlation with the Items per Page? (The Page- Link This Dataobject is on)

You can simply pass the page number as a get var in the URL from the PublicationPage. The detail() method can then grab the get var and if there's a value for the page number passed in, add it to the back link's URL.
In the template:
<% loop $MyPaginatedList %>
Click me
<% end_loop %>
In your controller's detail() method:
$pageNum = $request->getVar('onPage');
if ($pageNum) {
// Add the pagenum to the back link here
}
Edit
You've expressed that you want this to use the page start offset (so you can just plug it into the url using ?start=[offset]), and that you want an example that also covers people coming in from outside your site. I therefore propose the following:
Do as above, but using PageStart instead of CurrentPage - this will mean you don't have to re-compute the offset any time someone clicks the link from your paginated list.
If there is no onPage (or pageOffset as I've renamed it below, assuming you'll use PageStart) get variable, then assuming you can ensure your SortOrder values are all unique, you can check how many items are in the list before the current item - which gives you your item offset. From that you can calculate what page it's on, and what the page offset is for that page, which is your start value.
public function detail(HTTPRequest $request)
{
$publication = PublicationObject::get_by_url_segment(Convert::raw2sql($request->param('ID')));
$paginatedList = $this->getPaginatedPublicationObjects();
// Back link logic starts here
$pageOffset = $request->getVar('pageOffset');
if ($pageOffset === null) {
$recordOffset = $paginatedList->filter('SortOrder:LessThan', $publication->SortOrder)->count() + 1;
$perPage = $paginatedList->getPageLength();
$page = floor($recordOffset / $perPage) + 1;
$pageOffset = ($page - 1) * $perPage;
}
$back = $this->Link() . '?' . $paginatedList->getPaginationGetVar() . '=' . $pageOffset;
// Back link logic ends here
//.....
}
I need to prevent/disable nested lists in text editor implemented in Angular. So far i wrote a hack that undos a nested list when created by the user. But if the user creates a normal list and presses the tab-key the list is shown as nested for a few milliseconds until my hack sets in back to a normal list. I need something like event.preventDefault() or stopPropagation() on tab-event keydown but unfortunately that event is not tracked for some reason. Also the froala settings with tabSpaces: falseis not showing any difference when it comes to nested list...in summary i want is: if the user creates a list and presses the tab-key that nothing happens, not even for a millisecond. Has anyone an idea about that?
Froala’s support told us, there’s no built-in way to suppress nested list creation. They result from TAB key getting hit with the caret on a list item. However we found a way to get around this using MutationObserver
Basically we move the now nested list item to his former sibling and remove the newly created list. Finally we take care of the caret position.
var observer = new MutationObserver(mutationObserverCallback);
observer.observe(editorNode, {
childList: true,
subtree: true
});
var mutationObserverCallback = function (mutationList) {
var setCaret = function (ele) {
if (ele.nextSibling) {
ele = ele.nextSibling;
}
var range = document.createRange();
var sel = window.getSelection();
range.setStart(ele, 0);
range.collapse(true);
sel.removeAllRanges();
sel.addRange(range);
};
var handleAddedListNode = function (listNode) {
if (! listNode.parentNode) {
return;
}
var parentListItem = listNode.parentNode.closest('li');
if (!parentListItem) {
return;
}
var idx = listNode.children.length - 1;
while (idx >= 0) {
var childNode = listNode.children[idx];
if (parentListItem.nextSibling) {
parentListItem.parentNode.insertBefore(childNode, parentListItem.nextSibling);
} else {
parentListItem.parentNode.appendChild(childNode);
}
--idx;
}
setCaret(parentListItem);
listNode.parentNode.removeChild(listNode);
};
mutationList.forEach(function (mutation) {
var addedNodes = mutation.addedNodes;
if (!addedNodes.length) {
return;
}
for (var i = 0; i < addedNodes.length; i++) {
var currentNode = addedNodes[i];
switch (currentNode.nodeName.toLowerCase()) {
case 'ol':
case 'ul':
handleAddedListNode(currentNode);
break;
// more optimizations
}
}
})
};
I have created a model and added the $has_many for selecting multiple products. This is working fine but I am unable to make the selected products sortable by drag and drop. I know this is possible I have seen it. But I am unable to find anything in the documentation that shows how to get this done. Here is my model:
<?php if (!defined('BASEPATH')) exit('No direct script access allowed');
require_once(FUEL_PATH.'models/Base_module_model.php');
/**
* This model handles setting up the form fields for our contact form
*
*/
class Products_category_model extends Base_module_model {
public $required = array('name', 'published');
public $has_many = array('products' => array(FUEL_FOLDER => 'Products_model'));
function __construct()
{
parent::__construct('w_product_categories');
}
/*
This will provide the list of records for display in the Admin Panel
Note how the "excerpt" will display, but truncated
Because we are using some MySQL functions in our select statement,
we pass FALSE in as the second parament to prevent CI auto escaping of fields
*/
function list_items($limit = null, $offset = null, $col = 'name', $order = 'asc', $just_count = false)
{
$this->db->select('id, name, published', FALSE);
$data = parent::list_items($limit, $offset, $col, $order);
return $data;
}
function form_fields($values = array(), $related = array())
{
$fields = parent::form_fields($values, $related);
return $fields;
}
}
class Product_category_model extends Base_module_record {
}
So it is very simple I discovered. I added this in the form fields function:
// Makes the has many drag and drop sortable.
$fields['products']['sorting'] = TRUE;
$fields['products']['after_html'] = "<div style=\"clear:both;font-style:italic\">NOTE: you can sort selected product to your choosing by clicking on the product and then dragging it into the desired placement in the list</div>";
Using sharepoint build in lookup column and it set to required field. SharePoint automatically selects the first item in the dropdown box (kinda misleading for the end users).
Is there a way to display blank or Null for the first row of this drop down box?
(I am open to any solution. I prefer javascript type solution)
For Choice fields, the default value is configured in the column settings. If the "Default value" input box is populated, delete the value in order to use no default value.
Edit
For Lookup fields, the field seems to change dramatically if it is required. Fields that are NOT required have a "(None)" value by default. However, toggling the field to required will remove the "(None)" value and the first value is selected automatically.
One thing I found, is that if you use JavaScript to add the null value to the dropdown and then try to press OK you get an error page: "An unexpected error has occurred." As a workaround, I wrote some more code to do a quick validation that the field has a value before the form is submitted. If the field has no value, then it will prompt the user and cancel the submit. (Note: this code is only attached to the OK buttons so you may get errors while editing EditForm.aspx.. just choose a value for your lookup field and you'll be able to edit like normal)
Anyways, onto the code... I think the only line you'll need to change is var fieldTitle = 'Large Lookup Field'; to update it to the name of your field.
<script type="text/javascript">
function GetDropdownByTitle(title) {
var dropdowns = document.getElementsByTagName('select');
for (var i = 0; i < dropdowns.length; i++) {
if (dropdowns[i].title === title) {
return dropdowns[i];
}
}
return null;
}
function GetOKButtons() {
var inputs = document.getElementsByTagName('input');
var len = inputs.length;
var okButtons = [];
for (var i = 0; i < len; i++) {
if (inputs[i].type && inputs[i].type.toLowerCase() === 'button' &&
inputs[i].id && inputs[i].id.indexOf('diidIOSaveItem') >= 0) {
okButtons.push(inputs[i]);
}
}
return okButtons;
}
function AddValueToDropdown(oDropdown, text, value, optionnumber){
var options = oDropdown.options;
var option = document.createElement('OPTION');
option.appendChild(document.createTextNode(text));
option.setAttribute('value',value);
if (typeof(optionnumber) == 'number' && options[optionnumber]) {
oDropdown.insertBefore(option,options[optionnumber]);
}
else {
oDropdown.appendChild(option);
}
oDropdown.options.selectedIndex = 0;
}
function WrapClickEvent(element, newFunction) {
var clickFunc = element.onclick;
element.onclick = function(event){
if (newFunction()) {
clickFunc();
}
};
}
function MyCustomExecuteFunction() {
// find the dropdown
var fieldTitle = 'Large Lookup Field';
var dropdown = GetDropdownByTitle(fieldTitle);
if (null === dropdown) {
alert('Unable to get dropdown');
return;
}
AddValueToDropdown(dropdown, '', '', 0);
// add a custom validate function to the page
var funcValidate = function() {
if (0 === dropdown.selectedIndex) {
alert("Please choose a value for " + fieldTitle + ".");
// require a selection other than the first item (our blank value)
return false;
}
return true;
};
var okButtons = GetOKButtons();
for (var b = 0; b < okButtons.length; b++) {
WrapClickEvent(okButtons[b], funcValidate);
}
}
_spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("MyCustomExecuteFunction");
</script>
In response Kit Menke, I've made a few changes to the code so it will persist previous value of the dropdown. I have added the following lines of code to AddValueToDropdown()....
function AddValueToDropdown(oDropdown, text, value, optionnumber){
var selectedIndex
if (oDropdown.options.selectedIndex)
selectedIndex = oDropdown.options.selectedIndex;
else
selectedIndex = -1;
// original code goes here
// changed last line of code (added "selectedIndex+1")
oDropdown.options.selectedIndex = selectedIndex+1;
}
To improve on top of Aaronster's answer: AddValueToDropdown can be done that way:
var injectedBlankValue = false;
function AddValueToDropdown(oDropdown, text, value, optionnumber) {
for (i = 0; i < oDropdown.options.length; i++) {
option = oDropdown.options[i];
if(option.getAttribute('selected')) // If one is already explicitely selected: we skip the whole process
return;
}
var options = oDropdown.options;
var option = document.createElement('OPTION');
option.appendChild(document.createTextNode(text));
option.setAttribute('value', value);
if (typeof (optionnumber) == 'number' && options[optionnumber]) {
oDropdown.insertBefore(option, options[optionnumber]);
}
else {
oDropdown.appendChild(option);
}
// changed last line of code (added 'selectedIndex+1')
oDropdown.options.selectedIndex = 0;
injectedBlankValue = true;
}
This is needed for document libraries where "add" and "set properties" are two distinct pages.
And funcValidate starts with:
var funcValidate = function () {
if (!injectedBlankValue)
return true;
All these changes is to make the whole thing work with document libraries.
How do i go about iterating a group to find out if a given user is a member of a group?
I know i can use IsInRole on WindowsPrincipal object but for some reason it don't always work for me, it doesn't error out or throw exception but just return false.
i have put together following code from web, can some help me improve it in terms of reliability, it hasn't gave any wrong result in 3 weeks of testing.
Side notes: 1: I don't have access to AD username and password hence using GC. 2: Groups can be created in any domain but with in same forest. 3: Group can have users from various domains as well as groups.
thanks

Are you on .NET 3.5 ? If so, check out the MSDN magazine article Managing Directory Security Principals in the .NET Framework 3.5. It shows just how much easier things have become when it comes to users and groups in AD.
As for your requirement - you could
find the group in question
enumerate all its members
find if your given user is a member in that group
and all this can be done quite easily with the help of the System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement namespace:
// establish a context - define a domain (NetBIOS style name),
// or use the current one, when not specifying a specific domain
PrincipalContext ctx = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain);
// find the group in question
GroupPrincipal theGroup = GroupPrincipal.FindByIdentity(ctx, "nameOfGroup");
// recursively enumerate the members of the group; making the search
// recursive will also enumerate the members of any nested groups
PrincipalSearchResult<Principal> result = theGroup.GetMembers(true);
// find the user in the list of group members
UserPrincipal user = (result.FirstOrDefault(p => p.DisplayName == "Some Name") as UserPrincipal);
// if found --> user is member of this group, either directly or recursively
if(user != null)
{
// do something with the user
}
I tried to use your code snippet above for the 3.5 framework and this line my compiler says it's incorrect:
// find the user in the list of group members
UserPrincipal user = (result.FirstOrDefault(p => p.DisplayName == adUser) as UserPrincipal);
Specifically the result.FirstOfDefault, it says that's not a valid option.
Thanks!
