I'm very new to netbeans and linux.I'm using netbeans6.9 in my linux OS for Ruby programing. I need to SSH to this machine, through my windows XP laptop and access netbeans.I'm using Cygwin X for the SSH connection.I'm not able to find an answer so please help me.
Depends on where NetBeans was installed. I have it in /usr/local/netbeans-6.9/ (I don't know what the default location is, but I don't think this is it), so my executable is /usr/local/netbeans-6.9/bin/netbeans.
ssh -X <IP> "<path_to_netbeans_binary>"

I can launch X11 application through my local machine to X11 enabled server.
e.g. ssh -x from my localmachine(linux desktop) then launch a installed application from the minimal server.
I would like to know if it's possible to access my installed application directly from my minimal server. e.g. ssh -x ?
Thank you.
Not sure if it is useful but better you can use either Xming or Mobaxterm to get an X11 for a linux machine . Ultra VNC/VNC are also some of those kind .
I'm running a VM in Azure with Ubuntu 14.04. I've installed XFCE and use X2GO to remote desktop to the machine.
I've downloaded the VS Code and unzipped the files. When I run Code from a terminal I get the following error:
WouterDeKort#UbuntuDev:~/tools/web/visual-studio-code$ ./Code
bash: cannot set terminal process group (-1): Inappropriate ioctl for device
bash: no job control in this shell
WouterDeKort#UbuntuDev:~/tools/web/visual-studio-code$ [ , [Error: channel closed] ]
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
DISCLAIMER ;-) I'm a total Linux newby. I've just installed Linux for the first time today and I have no idea what I'm doing ;-)
The work-a-round is in issue 3451. After running this, I was able to launch it from Debian Jessie with LXDE over X2Go.
sudo sed -i 's/BIG-REQUESTS/_IG-REQUESTS/' /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxcb.so.1
I have the same problem using X2GO and LXDE. Works okay (but slowly) using MobaXterm so apparently this is a problem specific to X2GO.
For anyone who still wonder what is the best choice if you want to start Visual Studio Code on a headless Ubuntu - the winning combination is:
Ubuntu Server + xfce + nomachine remote desktop
VS Code starts immediately without any hacks, you can set your resolution however you like, and nomachine is blazingly fast.
I am new to Linux Platform. I have been given access to a server machine running on Linux ( but I don't know which Linux Platform it is running). I have been told that netbeans is installed on the machine. But, I find problem in searching the exact location where i open a framework window.
Any suggestion please.
Thanks in advance!!
You could always try
sudo locate netbeans
or
sudo find / -name netbeans
(Or without the sudo if you don't have the permissions.)
This a very basic requirement of our project.
I need to run Windows command from a linux box, without using ssh, as not all the windows boxes have ssh installed by default.
I was searching for some python libs that can do this work?
Links, tutorial, are highly appreciated.
Some alternatives:

http://pypi.python.org/pypi/WMI/ (under wine or a Windows bridge VM)

Is there a way to make an ssh connection from a windows command line to a Linux machine not using putty?
The Idea is to be able to use NAnt to issue linux commands on the target Linux machine.
Yes. The Cygwin ssh client works from the Windows command line.
If you're looking to avoid any 3rd party tool besides nant, then no.
