I have a shop setup, but want my wholesales to be able to use the shop as well. Is there a way to create items that only the wholesalers can see?
I know you can change the pricing based on the group, but I want wholesalers to see a different set of item.
Can this be done?
Thanks in advance.
a) Could you not place them into different categories for different users
b) use the Special login level to require higher access for these categories?
Or do you want to automate what is visible to whom? In this case a query rewriter based on a system plugin may work. Look at how Joomfish does this.

We have renamed section in Bitrix as below.
Deals -> Projects, Companies -> Deals, Contacts -> Companies, Leads -> Contacts, However, while we open any of above, still require some renaming.
Top of the page it shows Company where it should be Deals
Products comes with empty.
Please advice.
Thanks
your host name / bitrix/admin/fileman_file_edit.php?lang=en&site=s1&path=%2Fbitrix%2Fcomponents%2Fbitrix%2Fcrm.company.show%2Ftemplates%2F.default%2Flang%2Fen%2Ftemplate.php&full_src=Y you can changes in this file for your tab label name and save it. I am find out it from search option.
You should not rename interface in such way because it confuses users!
It's not just names, they imply a lot of business logic.
Try to explain the reasons why you want to do this (what kind of business problem you are solving) and I will try to help to implement them in the right way.
But if you really want to rename items try to use localization module to translate interface strings (copy En locale and change some strings as you want).
I think it is the best option in your case.
You can find L10n module in admin interface:
I'm using ExpressionEngine's multisite manager and I'm displaying channel entries from two of the sites - our global site and our localized site for our Australia office. For the Australia site I would like to display all channel entries, but from the Global Site channel entries I would like to only display channel entries from a particular category (in this case "25" ie. those tagged as pertaining to Australia on our Global site).
If I use something like this below, it wont show the any of the entries from the Australia site (tpi_au) because I don't have those categorize.
{exp:channel:entries channel="success" dynamic="no" site="tpi_hq|tpi_au" category="25"}
Is there a way to make that category="25" apply only to tpi_hq?
Sorry this is probably a really easy answer or I'm just doing something totally wrong to begin with... :/
Thank you!
I don't believe there is a way to do this directly in a single channel call.
Situations like this arise all the time, not just with MSM. What if you want 10 entries for category X and 7 entries from category Y? Same deal.
Basically you need to make two channel:entries calls.
If you don't care about the order of the entries you are done. If it bothers you that the tpi_hq entries are always at the top of the list while the tpi_au entry is always at the bottom then you need to figure a way to sort them.
Two approaches I've used for this:
Sort the entries on the client side. I've done this in jQuery using html5 data-date parameters on <li>s.
Muck around with passing forward the entry ID's as embed variables. This requires a total of 3 EE channel:entry tags plus an embed so it is definitely less efficient on the server side, if you are concerned about such things.
Incidentally, most of the EE questions are now handled in the EE SE. You might get a different/better answer over there.
I would like to know if it is possible to use kentico macros (not necessarily coding a custom one) to access part of the rewritten URL's Path.
Example: http://www.mysite.com/Category/Subcategory/
I would like to get the last part (Subcategory) so that I may then filter content dynamically. The reason I want to use the macro is to simply not have to have 20+ different page templates only so I can have different web part properties.
Assuming you are using Portal templates, and you don't want an 'all items in all subcategories' list on the parent:
Create an Article List web part on the parent page — parent to all the sub-categories.
Set the web part Path to /{0}/{1}/{2}/% (if your path was /Home/Parent/Subcategory for example) or something similar for your environment.
Use the default setting of Inherit for the page template for all subcategory pages.
This will not show anything on the parent page, and the sub-categories will show only the documents under themselves. Note: If you want the subcategory items to have their own views when user digs down to /{0}/{1}/{2}/item, you may need to filter by changing template inheritance, or Document Types on the web part, or something like that if you don't want the whole sub-category list to also show on the item-specific pages.
You can create a custom macro or, you can also use the string operations which are allowed within macros. Please see http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/6_0/devguide/available_macro_methods.htm#string_methods (and you can e.g. use the EndsWith or TrimStrart or something similar).
However, I think the best way would be to create a custom macro which will exactly fit. There might be some combination of macros and macro functions - but I think it is faster just to code a custom one which will cover your need 100%.
Also, you can take a look on the K# if there is something that will fit - http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/6_0/devguide/ksharp_syntax.htm
I noticed that sitecore has the option of exporting users in an Excel format.
I need to have similar functionality for exporting 'participations', (a users can enlist to take part in an 'event', and if their entry is approved via a sitecore workflow, a 'participation' item is created in the content tree)
Since mostly everything in Sitecore is in essence based on items, and I want to export items to Excel, my question is - what are some of the best ways of doing this?
Questions:
Is there a way to re-use this functionality for regular items?
Would it be a good idea to create a custom admin page (any tips on doing this?) which has some custom code that reads the items from the database using the API?
are there sitecore plugins/shared source projects that can help me achieve this?
Or does anyone have a better idea? - would it be better to just store the participations in SQL? I'm mostly doing it this way because I want to make use of the 'free' functionality offers, for example workflow, but if that leads to me using anti-patterns please shoot me ;)

P.S. Couldn't leave a comment to original answer as I don't have enough reputation. Oh well :)
Found a most excellent shared source module which does exactly this (and much more)!
Basically it allows you to configure (and easily extend, if you need to) any kind of table based report on 'items'.
The report module shows up as an application in the sitecore menu (like the user manager tool) and comes with features such as xml, csv, xls export. It's also really easy to set up, once you get the hang of it.

in a List i have one 'Status' field that should be accessible to only Owners and to the Viewers/Readers it should not be accessible. Do anybody can guide me how to do this.
Well, you can, your view still is visible if the users know how to reach the default views of your list, if its not a security issue, you can use this:
Open your All Items View (/Lists/MyList/AllItems.aspx)
Edit the Page
Add the same List as a WebPart, twice
Delete the original webpart (the one with the Change View drop down)
Edit your WebParts and configure your views
In the Toolpart, on the Advanced [+] set Audience Targetting to your desired Groups
Done!
Either that or you can create a workflow that copies the item to a new list with its metadata, but without that specific column and only give the viewers rights to see that list.
If the question is one of security (it usually is, else just use a view), you can't lock down specific columns. You can find techniques to hide them, but then you're just plugging holes.
The workflow approach recommended by KoenVosters is probably the only secured way I can think of delivering this without coding.
This is not possible out of the box, but I came across this tool that will help to archive this with ease
