I'm using web.py 0.3 / apache2 / mod_wsgi and the cgitb module doesn't seem to work out of the box (I still just get 'internal server error' from web.py and the usual output goes to apache's error_log). The web.py install guide suggested a workaround which didn't work for me - I could probably hack it into working, but is there something better (perhaps designed for web.py or wsgi) that I should use instead?
Set web.config.debug = True before creating your app. That enables debug error, which contains the stack trace of exception along with values of locals.
When debugging apache2 and web.py, it's usually good to catch errors in the apache error log. When you get an internal server error, for instance, it means nothing was returned for whatever reason by your app.
On Linux, I just watch the error log in a separate terminal...
tail -f /var/log/apache2/error_log
or
tail -f /var/log/httpd/error_log
or something depending on your distribution. If there's a typo or error message or what not, you'll get the typical python stack trace in your error log even if you get an internal server error in your browser.
Lack of cgitb was really slowing me down, too. This did it for me:
try:
Output+=TroublesomeScript(etc)
except:
import traceback;
Output+=str(traceback.format_exc())
You can beautify the output if you like but this should give you the information you need for debugging. You can also just output sys.exc_info(), but the traceback module seems to be recommended.

On a Unix server, I am running an application engine via the process scheduler.
In it, I am attempting to use a "zip" Unix command from within an "Exec" pplcode function.
However, I only get the error
PS_Exec(P): Error executing batch command with reason: No such file or directory (2)
I have tried it several ways. The most logical approach I thought was to change directory back to the root, then change to the specified directory so that I could easily use the zip command, such as the following...
Exec("cd / && cd /opt/psfin/pt850/dat/PSFIN1/PYMNT && zip INVREND INVREND.XML");
1643 12.20.34 0.000048 72: Exec("cd /opt/psfin/pt850/dat/PSFIN1/PYMNT");
1644 12.20.34 0.001343 PS_Exec(P): Error executing batch command with reason: No such file or directory (2)
I've even tried the following....just to see if anything works from within an Exec...
Exec("ls");
Sure enough, it gave the same error.
Now, some of you may be wondering, does the account that is associated with the process scheduler actually have authority on this particular directory path on the server ? Well, I was able to create the xml file given in the previous command with no problems.
I just cannot seem to be able to modify it with the Exec issuance of Unix commands.
I'm wondering if this is an error of rights and permissions from the unix server with regards to the operator id that the process scheduler is running from. However, given that it can create and write to a file there, I cannot understand why the Exec command would be met with any resistance....Just my gut shot in the dark...
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Flynn
Not sure if you're still having an issue, but in your Exec code, adding the optional %FilePath_Absolute constant should help. When that constant is left off, PS automatically prefixes all commands with <PS_HOME>. You'll have to specify absolute paths with this flag on though. I've changed the command to something that should work.
Exec("zip /opt/psfin/pt850/dat/PSFIN1/PYMNT/INVREND /opt/psfin/pt850/dat/PSFIN1/PYMNT/INVREND.XML", %FilePath_Absolute);
The documentation at PeopleBooks is a little confusing sometimes, but it explains it fairly well in this case.
You can always store the absolute location in a variable and prefix that to your commands so you don't have to keep typing out /opt/psfin/pt850/dat/PSFIN1/PYMNT/.
I'm getting not found error for combine_css
Below is my apache config:
ModPagespeedMapRewriteDomain domain.com.au 10.3.12.2
This seems to work sometimes but not all the time and it keeps on creating file that is not found occasionally.
Whenever this happens, I have to do below:
touch /var/cache/mod_pagespeed/cache.flush
Is there a reason why this is happening?
I have followed the install instructions and gone over them multiple times with a fine comb and I am still unable to determine why I cannot resolve the NameService. I have the omniNames service running, but when I run omniEvents I get the following
omniEvents: [32190]: Warning - failed to resolve initial reference 'NameService'. Exception NO_RESOURCES
I receive this same error message when I attempt to connect within the Sandbox in the IDE, but I am still able to run components and connect them while running in the IDE Sandbox.
I ran nameclt list and received the following output
Cannot resolve the root context.
Have you set up the configuration file properly?
my config file contains the following
InetRef = NameService=corbaname::127.0.0.1
InetRef = EventService=corbaloc::127.0.0.1:11169/omniEvents
I have also verified that the services are being started on the correct ports using netstat.
What am i missing to get connected to the name service?
It appears that your error might be due to a typo in /etc/omniORB.cfg. In your example you use "InetRef" when it should be "InitRef".
Double check the settings and then restart omniNames and omniEvents and try nameclt again. If you get an error such as this:
$ nameclt list
Caught a TRANSIENT exception when trying to validate the type of the
NamingContext. Is the naming service running?
Double check that omniNames is indeed running (i.e. ps -ef | grep omniNames).
I'm attempting to get an Etherpad Lite site up and running with IIS on my computer before I upload it to Azure for Web Sites, but I get this error when I try (http://pastebin.com/4rZWbqix):
iisnode encountered an error when processing the request. HRESULT: 0x2
HTTP status: 500 HTTP reason: Internal Server Error
You are receiving this HTTP 200 response because
system.webServer/iisnode/#devErrorsEnabled configuration setting is
'true'.
In addition to the log of stdout and stderr of the node.exe process,
consider using debugging and ETW traces to further diagnose the
problem.
The last 64k of the output generated by the node.exe process to stdout
and stderr is shown below: fs.js:520 return
binding.lstat(pathModule._makeLong(path));
^ Error: EPERM, operation not permitted 'C:\Users\Matthew'

at Module.runMain (module.js:492:10)
at process.startup.processNextTick.process._tickCallback (node.js:244:9)
There is no fs.js file in Etherpad's directory, so I would assume that it's some part of Node.js that's having a problem. I'm new to Node.js, so any help would be appreciated.
EDIT 1: I'm currently looking into alternatives to Azure, and granting permissions to C:\Users\Matthew. But would it be possible to somehow modify fs.js to put a try/catch around binding.lstat?
EDIT 2: After playing around with it a little (adding the permissions worked!), I've gotten it to work. But now loading 127.0.0.1:81 returns:
iisnode encountered an error when processing the request. HRESULT: 0x2

You are receiving this HTTP 200 response because

It would seem like this isn't an error, since what's outputted is what's expected, but it seems to stop at plugins.formatPlugins().
Make sure the user identity associated with the IIS application pool running your node.js application has appropriate filesystem permissions to the location where you deployed your application (looks like c:\users\matthew in this case).
If you are running your app within the Default App Pool and using default IIS user, you should be able to grant necessary permissions with:
%systemdrive%\windows\system32\icacls.exe c:\users\matthew /grant IIS_IUSRS:(OI)(CI)F
Case
Error: EPERM, operation not permitted 'C:\Users\Matthew'
This error occour because the user IIS_IUSRS, does not have access to this folder C:\Users\Matthew
Resolution
You can put your application on a 'public folder', example: 'C:\Test\[yourapplication]' and gives access to user IIS_IUSRS only to this folder.
It is about permission on the folder 'C:\Users\Matthew'. Take ownership and give modify permissions.
I had the same issue, and when I tried to use the latest node version via
nvm use [some node version 10.12.0 in my case] it output that it succeed but when I run node -v it showed to me that actually I'm on a node of 8.
I solved that by login as second windows user (although they both admins and node installed on C:/) and there I use the nvm use 10.12.0 to replace the node version, and when I back login with current user it worked.
I wouldn't recommend Azure for hosting Etherpad Lite, we don't optimize for Microsoft's services, this includes Microsoft Windows. If it's an option please use linux to host your node instances, you will be much happier in my experience.
I intended to implement a chat feature in my rails application. After a brief backup work I found JUGGERNAUT is the best option. By going to through http://juggernaut.rubyforge.org/
I have successfully implemented the juggernaut in my application.
Presently I'm all set to implement chat feature and after a vigorous surfing over web I couldn't get good tutorial to implement it but I found the some part of implementation at http://www.golygon.com/2010/12/private-chat-room-in-ruby-on-rails-3-0/. I decided to follow it but initially to implement the tutorial we need to have redis server and node.js in our system. I installed both in my environment.
But I'm facing the following problem as follows:
If I try
redis-server, I'm getting the following error
[11440] 08 Aug 10:08:16 # Warning: no config file specified, using the default config. In order to specify a config file use 'redis-server /path/to/redis.conf'
[11440] 08 Aug 10:08:16 # Opening port: bind: Address already in use
and as per the tutorial
if I try
sudo node server.js, I'm getting the following error
[sudo] password for re5:
node.js:63
throw e;
^
Error: ENOENT, No such file or directory '/home/re5/Documents/task17/server.js'
at Object.openSync (fs:153:18)
at Object.readFileSync (fs:94:15)
at Module._loadScriptSync (node.js:468:39)
at Module.loadSync (node.js:338:12)
at Object.runMain (node.js:522:24)
at Array.<anonymous> (node.js:756:12)
at EventEmitter._tickCallback (node.js:55:22)
at node.js:773:9
As I don't know much about the redis and node I'm unable to figure out what was the problem regarding to this errors.
I'm stuck and couldn't go further as I'm not sure whether this two are configured perfectly or not.
currently I'm using rails 3.0.7 and ruby 1.8.7
Can any one help me out.
Well your first error is quite simple to understand.
[11440] 08 Aug 10:08:16 # Opening port: bind: Address already in use
This means that there is aready a server bound to that port and using it as a server, this can happen if you have other applications/servers running or if you try to have mutiple instances of the server run at one time. To fix this you need to stop the process and then start it back up again. You can usually do this by closing all of your terminal windows or using your operating systems process manager to terminate the process, if those methods dont work for you try shutting your computer down and starting it back up. If you are still unable to start the Redis server after this then there are some more steps we can take.
The next error is due to node.js not being able to find a file that it needs. Reinstalling node.js should fix this problem for you.
Let me know if this fixes your problem or if you need more help.
