I have installed a bunch of qt packages - qt, qt-devel, qt4, qt4-devel, sip but can't get latest PyQt4 to compile.
I've pointed the configure script at my qt4lib as such
python configure.py -q /usr/lib64/qt4/bin/qmake --verbose
but getting errors like
DBus v1 does not seem to be installed.
cfgtest_QtHelp.cpp:1:25: error: qhelpengine.h: No such file or directory
sip: /mnt/hgfs/rnp_repos/PyQt-x11-gpl-4.8.1/sip/QtCore/qabstractitemmodel.sip:156: syntax error
Error: Unable to create the C++ code.
EDIT: Found out that SIP v4.11.2 is required for PyQt 4.8 but still can't make without errors. At least python configure.py finishes now.
Any tips?
Grab the PyQt4 SRPM from Fedora and rebuild using mock. You may need to look a few versions back for one that will compile against the version of Qt 4 in CentOS.
I've just successfully compiled PyQt 4.8 on Centos 5.5. I went down the route of building Qt4 from source - using qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.7.1.tar.gz from Nokia.
Had to obtain various *-devel packages before Qt's ./configure would complete - see http://doc.qt.nokia.com/4.7/requirements-x11.html (don't worry about the version numbers being slightly lower than required).
Also I used Python 2.6 from the EPEL 5 repository (python26-devel). Just remember when building PyQt to run python26 configure.py (and not the default Python). I don't know if this will improve your mileage in building PyQt but we're porting an application from Windows which was already using 2.6 so this route was necessary for me.
Not going to post my entire .bash_history here (much trial and error!) but if you're trying this and get stuck please ask a question.

But python searching for the files in site packages and throwing the error as:
OSError: cannot load library libcairo.so.2: error 0x7e. Additionally, ctypes.util.find_library() did not manage to locate a library
This issue happening in installation of weasyprint packages.
Installing GTK+ didn't work for me.
I solved this problem using UniConverter2.0.
My environments is
Python 3.7
Windows 10 x64
Install uniconvertor-2.0rc4-win64_headless.msi,
Find the "dll" sub-directory under the UniConverter installation path.(In my case, C:\Program Files\UniConvertor-2.0rc4\dlls)
Add this "dll" path to the system path.
Close VSCode and reopen the project.
Try to run your code again.

In my experience with this issue Windows 10 (64-bit) with Python 3.5.1, it can be either due to duplicate libraries in other directories seen by PATH that don't work or the libraries that you installed just aren't compatible with your OS/Python bit version.
I suggest installing an older version of GTK+ (I used 3.10.4) using the links provided in the WeasyPrint documentation instead and see if the error persists. I had the issue on a newer build of GTK+. The version of GTK+ installed with MSYS2 gave the same error.
Edit: I found the post where I found the previous version of GTK that I was using but it gave an annoying warning about the cairo version being unstable:

Edit 2: To get rid of the cairo version stability warnings, I managed to get a newer version of Cairo using the GTK3-runtime-3.22.8 (Link to git downloads as per WeasyPrint docs)
Remember to uninstall all current GTK+ implementations first. You might get a warning saying that the version of cairo can cause issues but I haven't been able to locate a newer version of cairo that works in windows, let me know if you find one.
I am trying to build a program as most others available on linux:
configure, make, make install.
However when I try to configure it I get the following message:

I have got gtk 2.x on the host machine. And when I run which and locate on gtk-config I get nothing back. Since I have the source what patches can I apply to fix this?
You need to install the development files for GTK 1.2; the name of the package depends on your distribution.
I'd like to warn you, though, that GTK 1.2 was last released 15 years ago, in 2001, and hasn't been updated since — which also implies that the application you're trying to build is also hopelessly outdated.
GTK+ 2.0.0 was also released in 2001 and it's currently in deep maintenance mode (the latest version is 2.24.29 and was released in 2015); GTK+ 3.0.0 was released in 2011, and it's the currently developed version of the API.
You cannot really apply patches to compile an application written with the GTK 1.x API using any newer major versions of GTK+ (e.g. 2.x or 3.x); each time the major version of GTK is bumped, the API is changed in a non-compatible way. You would need to port the application to the new API.
Additionally, if an application depends on GTK 1.x it's also likely that it will depend on older versions of existing libraries; or deprecated ones. You will need to find all the dependencies and ensure that they can be installed in parallel with the ones you have installed in your system.
You could try using the compatibility wrappers developed by OpenSUSE team that try to emulate GTK1.2 by some wrappers and/or automatically patching source code to be compiled, to be able to use GTK2.0 instead.
Have a look at https://github.com/openSUSE/gtk1-compat - perhaps it may work for you. I didn't test it, however, myself.
In order to run an optimization problem we set up Gurobi 6.0.4 together with
Anaconda (Version 2.2.0) Python (Python 2.7.9.) on
Linux CentOS release 6.6 (Final) with the 2.6.32-504.16.2.el6.x86_64 Kernel
Following the installation guidelines of Gurobi (listed here: http://www.gurobi.com/documentation/6.0/quickstart_linux.pdf)
everything worked out in the first step. Gurobi was installed, could obtain a license. Also the PATH variables have been set (in the .bashrc) according to the manual, with a little extension for the referal to anaconda python (and not the other local Versions of python (being 2.7 and 3.4):
export GUROBI_HOME="/opt/gurobi604/linux64"
export PATH="${PATH}:${GUROBI_HOME}/bin:${PATH}:opt/anaconda/bin"
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:${GUROBI_HOME}/lib"
Following the procedure we executed: python2.7 setup.py install in the respective directory /opt/gurobi604/linux64. After this usually you could run the import gurobipy command in the python interpreter wihtout errors. For older Versions of Gurobi (as 5.6.3) this works out very well.
For 6.0.4 though we constantly receive the error:
ImportError: /opt/anaconda/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gurobipy/gurobipy.so: undefined symbol: _Py_FalseStruct
This is very reproducible, no matter if we put anaconda also in the global path, and check the bash for any overwriting of the environment variables, which is not the case.
On Windows 8 the Gurobi 6.0.4 and Anaconda Python 2.2.0 work together without any problems.
Also applying hints from here: Python Module Error on Linux did not work out.

The error message indicates that you use the Python module for version 3.4 in your Python 2.7 package directory. This can happen if you do not clean your Python module build directory between builds. Please try the following:
Completely remove the 2.7 package from your Python 2.7 installation (e.g. remove /opt/anaconda/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gurobipy)
Completely remove the Python module build directory from your Gurobi installation (e.g. /opt/gurobi604/linux64/build)
Re-run the build process for the Python 2.7 module (e.g. run "python2 setup.py install" in /opt/gurobi604/linux64)
Please note that CentOS is currently a non-supported platform for Gurobi.
Thank you for the hint, I think we tried that, but did not finish the procedure in this way. We tried to clean the system but in that particular case still hat both python Versions (due to other applications that use 3.4) on the machine. Our solution in this case was just to reinstall everything clean on a Ubuntu 14.04 VM. Since then no further problems occured. (I know not the cleanest solution.)
We had some similar issues when we updated to Gurobi 6.5, but that could be solved when corrctly addressing the usual path issues.

I am trying to install pycairo 1.10 for Python 3.3 on redhat 6. There are no packages in the official repo, and when I try building it myself it says glibc is out of date. I have the latest glibc from the official the repo, and am somewhat hesitant to go on updating it through other means. Are there any other packages that can help, or is there some way to get this working with an older version (we have tried back to cairo 1.8).
redhat 6 is clearly out of date. Of course it can be done bringing rh6 up to date with downloading and compiling your own 3.x kernel with all what's needed to meet the requirments for pycairo 1.10....
BUT it would be easier and nicer to install a more modern Linux Distribution which goes nicely with an old computer. Linux Mint 16 (Petra) provides a distro with replaxed requirments and window managers in i386 mode.
I don't see any meaning in trying to get up to date code on such an old os version running. Every replacement hardware you can get hold on ebay will do better than that.

I want to add Doxygen plugin to QtCreator.
I am using QtCreator 2.5.2 in ubuntu 12.10 and the latest Doxygen version for QT is 2.4.0.
I've changed the doxygen.pluginspec file to get rid of version error.
But now I've got another error:
can not load library libdoxygen.so (libQtconcurrent.so can not open shared object file:No such file or directory)
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Yes, the quick install binaries are available only for QtCreator 2.4, but the plugin stays easy to install without it : you have to download the sources and build them yourself, as written in the wiki.
Moreover, you have to build it with the same version of Qt4 as the one that was used for build your QtCreator (have a look here)
It became compatible with QtCreator 2.7 and Qt5 at the end of March, and I succeeded in installing in in QtCreator2.8-beta.
If you have any other question, I guess it would be better to ask them in the plugin forum where developpers always answer to people in need.

You can install Doxywizard wich provides an user interface to use Doxygen.
I'm not shure I'm using fedora to install I used.
yum install doxygen-doxywizard.x86_64.
For Ubuntu it should be if the package name is the same.
apt-get install doxygen-doxywizard.x86_64
