How to get the value in an Excel dropdown using C# - excel

I am looking for code to open and read an Excel file, any version of Excel, including 2010. One of my columns has a dropdown in it. I need to get the value of the selected item in the dropdown. I would eventually want to populate these values into a business object.
If anyone has some code to share please let me know.

I know the VBA for both the ActiveX combo and the forms dropdown, and based on that, I can give you some very inexpert notes for c# for the forms dropdown, the combo eludes me as yet.

openxml sdk excel total sums

i am having difficulties with open xml sdk:
i am trying to generate excel file with several columns that have numbers and i want to have total sum at the end
i have tried to Generate Table Definition Part Content and inside define every column (id, name etC). If column has true for TotalColumn, it adds code (rough example)

Why not use a cell formula?
E.g.

I ended using EPPlus for this as it seems to be working simple and efficient

How can we include the cell formula while export to excel from .rdlc

In my rdlc report have following columns
SlNo, Item, Uom, Qty, Rate, Amount
Here the Amount field is a formula (Rate*Qty)
The report is working fine, and when i export to excel also displaying the values are correctly.
But my problem is, after export to excel, when i change the Qty or Rate columns in excel file the Amount is not get changed automatically, because the formula is missing in the excel cell.
How can we include the formula in Amount column while export to excel from .rdlc?
I'm afraid that this required behaviour isn't really possible by just using the rdlc rendering.

I haven't tried the project that they're suggesting but this might possibly be your best solution if it works. Unfortunately I do not have the time to test it myself, so if you test this please share your results.
I thought of the following workaround that seems to work most of the times, but isn't really that reliable because the formula sometimes gets displayed as full-text instead of being calculated. But I guess this could be solved by editing the excel file just after being exported, and changing the cell properties of this column containing the formula or just triggering the calculate.
Using the built-in-field Globals!RenderFormat.Name you can determine the render mode, this way you can display the result correctly when the report is being rendered to something different than Excel. When you export to Excel, you could change the value of the cell to the actual formula.
To form the formula it's self you'll need to figure this out on your own, but the RowNumber(Scope as String) function can be of use here to determine the row number of your cells.
Here is a possible example for the expression value of your amount column
=IIF(Globals!RenderFormat.Name LIKE "EXCEL*", "=E" & Cstr(RowNumber("DataSet1")+2) & "*F" & Cstr(RowNumber("DataSet1")+2) ,Fields!Rate.Value * Fields!Qty.Value )
Now considering that this formula sometimes gets displayed as full-text, and you'll probably have to edit the file post-rendering. If it's too complicated to determine which row/column the cell is on, you could also do this post-rendering. But I believe that the above expression should be easy enough to use to get your desired result without having to do much after rendering.
Update: The following code could be used to force the calculation of the formula (post rendering)

How to find same values from different cell in Excel file using C#

Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Range Range_Number_Phone;

This code finds first values only.it can't find another word.How is it possible?Please help me.

How to access a FormControl checkbox in an Excel sheet using OpenXML SDK

I have a spreadsheet that has a number of check boxes in various cells on the sheet that I need to get the value of (checked/unchecked) from within a c# program.
I'm using the OpenXML SDK v2.5 and the associated toolbox.
Using the toolbox I can see the check box controls as part of the AlternateControlParts collection. These are not ActiveX checkboxes but are form controls added via the developer tab in Excel.
When I use the SDK I can also see the WorkSheetPart which has a ControlPropertiesParts collection on it which lists all the checkboxes.
My problem is, how do I find which checkbox is in which cell or at least related to which cell?
I have also found the collection
wsPart.ControlPropertiesParts.First().DrawingsPart
.WorkSheetDrawing.DrawingsPart.WorkSheetDrawing
This collection appears to have the alternate content of each of the checkboxes and if I drill down further I can find the anchor points which appear to give the location of the checkboxes relative to the cells on the sheet. However, the col and row Id’s don’t appear to exactly match up and I suspect that the Offset values may also have something to do with it.
If someone can point me in the right direction on how to map the checkboxes to the correct row/cells I would be very grateful.

I have a solution, it contains only the logic (The property FormControlProperties is available since Office 2010:

But it is simplier to map the FormControl value to a cell and read the cell value if the you can edit the excel file.

Hidden Cells still showing in an OfficeWriter Excel Spreadsheet

When my Office Writer Excel report opens, it randomly un-hides some of the hidden cells and columns. I have verified that it is not the data that causes the columns or cells to not be hidden. Has anyone experienced this before and is there a way to make sure that all columns or cells stay hidden when the excel file is opened?
I work for SoftArtisans. We have not had any other reports of programmatically hidden columns becoming visible in the output file. We also have not been able to reproduce the behavior you are reporting. It would be helpful to see a code snippet, as well as to know which version of OfficeWriter you are using and which version of Excel is being used to open the output file.
There are two ways to hide columns with our API, both using the ColumnProperties object. You can set the hidden property to true or set the width property to zero. You could do both if you like, although that shouldn't be necessary.
For example:
