Can anyone recommend a good (preferably free) application or service to monitor the uptime of a server? And possibly send out an alert by email or sms when it goes down? Statistics are not really needed, it's just about knowing when a server goes down.
It depends how "sophisticated" tool you'd like to have (and install of course). You can use simple cron script on another server, or software designed for server monitoring. I've got experience and I can recommend you Zabbix or Nagios, but you can choose another one.

It is open source, written in python for AppEngine, so you can just run it on your own AppEngine account. Alerts you with a Twitter DMs when server is down, content has changed or has not changed, if an API is returning an invalid JSON if it is supposed to return JSON.

Im trying to make load testing for web application that based on Webrtc,
does someone knows with whitch tool can I test that application.
also I`d like to know if i can use Jmeter and if so , how can i use it ?

When it comes to load testing, WebRTC is different. And that's because WebRTC is peer-to-peer and not client server.
What you can test is the client server part, more specifically the signaling server and the STUN/TURN server. For these, you can easily use JMeter as for any web server. For STUN/TURN just follow the specs (though if you're using an existing server, I would leave this into the authors hands, unless you want to involve in that project too). For the signaling server, it depends on how you build it.
What you can also do with WebRTC is try to test with a controlled limited bandwidth and delay/jitter. This will be more like a smoke test, than a load one. To do this automatically is a little bit more complicated. especially if you want to do it with audio/video, not data.

At the moment we are a small development team of 2. All our software is used inhouse. Currently staff just walk to our desk when they want new software developed or when they want new features added to existing software, or when bugs arise.
I am looking for a better management process of this. Do I get staff to send an email instead and then that can be designated to a developer. Or is there a simple software app out there that could help?
I want a simple method for doing this as the staff are unlikely to use something if too time consuming or complex. They find it too easy to approach a developer personally!
Anything to recommend please?
One option is to use JIRA. It has a feature where emails sent to a certain address can get turned in to backlog items (using the email subject line as the title).
Keep it as it is for now: face-to-face communication is always better than using any piece of software...
It will be only when you will grow to more developers that you will really need such software: from online or cloud based (ie Zimbra) to VCSs (version control systems) hosted on your machines.

Is it possible to share computer screen with someone else over internet ?
I have attended few sessions of IBM where the presenter has shared his computer screen with the participants !
How should i go about to include this feature in my project. Any open-source API available to do the same ?
There are a lot of options when it comes to screen sharing. Wikipedia has a nice table comparing lots of remote desktop software.
One that looks fairly promising is FreeRDP. The source is on github and it seems to be pretty active project.
If you want to learn more, you can search for info about the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) which is what is being implemented in many of these programs.
If you are looking for something more web-specific (like Chrome's remote desktop), check out WebRTC. It is what the Chrome team is using to accomplish their screen sharing.
If you don't mind being limited to Chrome:

Skype also has a fantastic function for sharing screens. It allows an entire screen during a phone call for free. Makes working with someone on a project incredibly easy.

I'd like a system where I can manage my LAMP server. It is a real server, so it isnt a VPS. But apart from everyone else online, I dont want to sell space on it. I just want to manage it for my own purpose.
So I can change settings on the fly without accessing the Shell.
I would of course like it to be an active, either open source or free software.
Web UI is also a requirement.
As any configuration tool on various web hotels, with possibility to configure only for one mashine, and no virtual spaces or such.
Would be great, as after tons of googling I came to the conclusion that there are tons of systems and they all are too advanced or just look aweful and seem to complex.
My goals.
Manage domains,
Manage emails for domains,
Manage Apache (possibly vhosts and such)
Manage MySQL (could use phpmyadmin)
Manage logs and similar
Manage SVN (if possible)
Manage FTP
And such features, not too advanced stuff.

we have a lot of users running in different shared and solo-owned repositories in Subversion. As part of our work, we do project-shared code and individual work, and we need to control access, ideally on a group basis.
Currenly, we use SVNManager to allow users to manage access and create repositories. However, in order to get that working we had to do quite a bit of hacking.
Does anyone know of a free, open-source, linux-compatible SVN management system?

I have used it as is, and have modified it for an enterprise-wide solution at my day job.
There is an alternative called KDESVN which you might want to try. However, I have never used it, so I cannot vouch for it.
svn-access-manager seems to be a great open-source web administration GUI for SVN too (and currently active ...).
But I've finally adopted USVN !
This question is very similar to SVN admin management GUI tool by the way ...
I use KDESVN. Once it's set up it works great, but you only get one chance to set up your branch structure, so plan to create a test repository first.
