Sync list with outlook only with items in current view - sharepoint

Currently outlook takes all list data and synchronises it with outlook.
Is it possible and how to synchronise only items in a specific view? I`m only interested in my items in the list.

Unfortunately this is not possible out-of-the-box. When connecting a list to Outlook it occurs at the list level, not at the view level.
There may be a product you can purchase that will do this. I've had a quick look around for you without success but hopefully someone else can help.

I don't think you can do exactly what you are asking.
You could use the Content Query or Search Core Results Web Parts to get a filtered RSS feed which can be synced with Outlook. Of course, this is read-only so it might not be what you were after.

Found a custom solution. One guy wrote stssync protocol provider to synchronize Outlook against any DataTable.
This needs some custom implementation in SharePoint, however I`v managed to get my queried data to outlook.
I`m still working with some issues like how to get Body field rendered in Outlook, but if someone needs this functionality, then this protocol implementation is a nice start.
Time has passed and there is another solution
The alternative is to use custom web service provider that would provide outlook only items that it needs.

Sharepoint alternate ideas to get report from multiple user

We've a real pain in our project where we ask a team of 50 resources to update a single excel sheet that's placed in a network location and when someone tries to update the data, it's locked by somebody else and they don't update it. So, they end up not updating the data.
I'm looking for an alternate solution like
creating a form in sharepoint/ jira - no sharepoint/ jira developer
getting data in mail - too tedious and lots of rework
creating a custom form and hosting it in local server - might work - any templates on this?
Or, any alternates? I'm out of ideas.
easiest thing would be to create a simple SharePoint-List. All Users can update their data at the same time and the Input-Form will be there automatically. (Can also be exported to Excel)
If you are on SharePoint-Online you could also have a look at Windows Form which provide more flexibility in creating the form.
And if you need even more capabilities you can have a look at PowerApps

Syncing Podio with SharePoint List or Excel File

I hava an application on Podio that report incidents by users, i need to sync these inputs "items" with a SharePoint list or Excel file automatically instead of the Export function. i tried Zapier but it was limited for free plan, i also tried Simgo application but it is also paid. is there any way to make this happened? i'm not very familiar with API but if there is something can be adapted then it will be very helpful.
Well, you listed solutions to make this happened: Zapier, Simgo.
Of course you can implement your own solution. You may need to review how Podio API works, and especially export functionality.

How to copy Notes and Activities while converting Contact to Lead in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

I have a requirement to copy all Notes and Activities while converting Lead to Contact and vice versa.
When I Qualifying Lead to Contact I use my custom plugin which is triggered by QualifyLead event. There is no out of the box solution to convert Contact to Lead so I use my custom on-demand dialog. But this dialog unable to run my custom plugin (which will copy Notes and Activities from Contact to Lead).
Please help me to find a way to copy all this stuff from Contact to Lead.
You can create a Custom Workflow Activity with the code of your custom plugin and uses as step inside your on-demand dialog.
You can start from here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg328515.aspx
Another way that you can do this is to simply reference the notes from the Lead in the Contact, Account, or Opportunity entities using an IFrame and some JavaScript as described in http://030bacf.netsolhost.com/WordPress/?cat=69 . Depending on how many records you have, potentially this could even be a better solution since you are only keeping one copy of the notes which will help keep the size of the database more manageable and performance better. Or you could use this solution for the notes and the solution recommended by Guido for the Activity records. I had to make a change to the URL used for CRM 2013 and have copied that part below.
//src="/"+context.getContext().getOrgUniqueName()+"/_controls/note/notesdata.aspx?id="+lookupItem[0].id+"&ParentEntity=3&EnableInlineEdit=false&EnableInsert=false";
// change to this for CRM 2013
src=serverUrl+"/"+Xrm.Page.context.prependOrgName("/_controls/notes/notesdata.aspx?id="+lookupItem[0].id+"&ParentEntity=3&EnableInlineEdit=false&EnableInsert=false");

Restricting Views of users on Sharepoint lists

I am developing a sharepoint 2010 project.
I want to restrict users view on lists based on their identity. (e.g. the branch of organization they work in, but in fact the ristrictions can be more complicated).
What solutions do you recommend?
With out of the box features this is not possible. You can go to great lengths to remove the list's view selectors and other navigational elements that let people cruise around a the schema and metadata for a list but it is not a security mechanism.
If a user has read permissions to an item, they'll have read access to all the fields of that item.
There is an outside chance that it you disabled all RPC mechanisms, SOAP, RESTful web services, Client Object Model and the office clients that you might be able to claim this as a security mechanism. If you don't there will always be a way around your "security" scheme.
This feature can't be implemented by SharePoint by now and I think neither for the next version
You can use a third part tool to achieve it, such as BoostSolutions' Column/View Permission or LightningTools' DeliverPoint
BTW, I work for BoostSolutions and I mentioned our own product because it works for your issue. Hope it helps :)
create sharepoint groups based upon your requirement or diffrent type of user base and accordingly give them rights may be item level or on complete list
and while doing these things just go through the following posts
http://blogs.gartner.com/neil_macdonald/2009/02/25/sharepoint-security-best-practices/
http://weblogs.asp.net/erobillard/archive/2008/09/11/sharepoint-security-hard-limits-and-recommended-practices.aspx
Not 100% sure on SharePoint 2010, but definitley for SharePoint 2007, there is not a way to do this, especially if the views are corresponding to security requirements on the columns users are able to see.
One way to work around this is have the list be not accessible by users, and then have code logic allow for access to the data creating the different "views" on the data in something like a Web Part. The downsides to this is search becomes an issue (since the data is hidden) and having multiple "views" of the data (if necessary) is also another item to work through.
I know its a very old question but posting it as it might help someone.
There is an work around to do it as described here
I find it easier, if possible, to create the view and lock it with the filters on the list settings page.
For example, I have a list of employees that includes their employee IDs. I use that list on other pages to gather data in other webparts. So I filter the employee list to [ME]. So the data is available to the page needing it to filter others and they cannot see anything else.
Now, what about the person who needs to manage that page? I create a view, call it HR. That view can see everything. Then I export that webpart with that list view on it through the designer. I then delete the HR view from the employee list.
This leaves no way for anyone to switch views and see everything again. I create a webpart page for the person who manages it, and I upload that webpart and set the view of the webpart to HR. In the end, I have a page that I lock down instead of trying to lock down views or list permissions separately.
Would you be able to have two lists that are joined. One that all users have access to and another that only certain people have access to, and then join them? Then maybe the people that don't have access to the other table it doesn't pull the information? Not sure, but I'll try that out later today.

Sharepoint: Best way to display lists of non-Sharepoint content with "compatible" UI?

I've built a web part for Sharepoint that retrieves data from an external service. I'd like to display the items in a way that's UI-compatible with Sharepoint (fits in with its surroundings.)
I'm aware of the "DataFormWebPart" but was unable to get one working properly. It requires a valid DataSource and I was unable to build one from the results of a web service call... Part of the problem is that my web service wrappers don't expose the XML return info, rather I have a bunch of deserialized objects. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to turn actual objects into a datasource, or populate a "generic" datasource from object data.
I could use an SPGridView to get the same UI, but the grid control doesn't have much in the way of smarts -and- it forces every field into its own column. I'd prefer to render each list item as a single cell with complex rendering (for instance the way that StackOverflow shows its lists of questions.) I'd also like to get as much of the Sharepoint-standard UI as possible, such as the sorting, filtering, and paging controls.
So, first: Has anyone here written a Sharepoint control that does this, and if so do you have sample code to share? If not: am I overlooking some useful control, whether MS-supplied or available in an external library?
Thanks!
Steve
Sharepoint: Best way to display lists
of non-Sharepoint content with
“compatible” UI?
Take a look at the built in sharepoint web controls:
Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls Namespace
It contains all the controls used in sharepoint. I'd tell you more, but the documentation is very thorough.
Problem with SharePoint is that there are a bunch of different ways to do this. If your data is not changing too often and is not overly large it may be worth considering entering it into a list for display.
If you have the Enterprise licence it may be worth getting your data into the BDC and using it there.
you may have to convert the objects into xml or use the serialised objects with the XML webpart for display. This still has the issue of custom rendering using XSLT.
Here's a great article that explains how to configure BDC connections to web services using the BDC Definition Editor:
Creating a Web Service Connection by Using the Business Data Catalog Definition Editor
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb737887.aspx
The best way to do this IMO is to make a Web Part. As a Web Part the UI will be automatically rendered to be the same as the theme the site is using (unless you override it) and it will be able to be placed anywhere by anyone with admin privileges.

You could create a custom web part and use an SPGridView. You say you don't like it, because it forces every field into its own column, but that's not true. You can create a template (ITemplate) for every column and fully customize what's shown inside it, just like you would using a normal ASP.Net GridView. Using this approach I've added the little "New" images right next to a list item's Title, just like SharePoint does itself.
