Non-blocking Dialog box in Applescript - dialog

I have to write a small script to deploy a patch for our Application. The patch
will replace a couple of files in the application.I decided to depploy the patch using Applescript. The files to be copied are quite large and it takes some time for the files to be copied. I wanted to know if there is any way I can get a dialog box which doesn't block the execution of the script so that I can display some message like Updating.. etc while the patch is applied and then close the dialog box after wards.

There's a scripting addition called Akua Sweets (oldy but goody) that has a display progress command. Get it at osaxen.com. it's in the 'most popular' section at the top of the page.

Oh, bugger, that's only for OS9. It was really useful back in the day, I remember using it a lot (of course everything took a lot longer in those days so progress bars were more in demand).

I myself ran into the same problem. Unfortunately applescript doesn't provide an easy way of implementing a progress bar.
I ended up using the stop loop example found here to build an application. This guy has a bunch of applescript studio xcode projects to download and mess around with. It's some really great sample code if you aren't too familiar with applescript studio.

Android Studio Plugin - Show Image In Editor

I'd like to be able to display an image below a class-level javadoc in Android Studio. My assumption is that I should write a plugin to make this happen.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get an image (JPEG or PNG) to display below a class-level javadoc comment in a Java class file?
I looked into basic information about creating an IntelliJ IDEA plugin but I have no idea where to look to accomplish my task.
This is not possible in the current version of IntelliJ IDEA. The editor can display only text, and does not support embedding of non-text things such as an image file.
You can display images on hover, or in popups, or in dialogs, but not within the editor itself.
Do you want the image to show in the class' source code itself? As an aside, images in Javadocs will show when you view the formatted javadoc view the Quick documentation action (Windows/Linux: Ctrl+Q or Mac: ^J)
If you still want the image to show in the source code, then yes, you will need to write a plug-in. You can look at the Information for Plugin Developers
Setting Up the Plugin Development Environment section of this web page - https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/plugins - to get started. You'll have to dig through source code to try and find some ideas for how to display an image in the source code. As much as I love IntelliJ IDEA, there plug-in documentation is a bit weak. When I wrote a plug-in, I had to do a lot of looking through the IDEA code to find code that was doing things similar to what I wanted to do. I also downloaded the source code for some of the better plug-ins out there and looked through them.
Finally, you can ask for some guidance in the IntelliJ IDEA Open API and Plugin Development forum. That forum is monitored by JetBrains developers. Your best bet to getting answers in that forum is to ask very specific questions. Do not try and get someone to explain from start to finish what you need to do. As you do each step, ask questions about what you are trying to do.

Sublime Text 2 split active screen like dreamweaver

At work, I have to jump into old mysql_query procedural website build higgledy-piggledy (some var are camelCased AND underscored, no indent code, page are build in table ...)
Anyway, usually I m using ST2, but here I can't. So to search my line code, I use dreamweaver to click on the screen preview and the cursor drop on the code line I want.
I do not like and I don't know dreamweaver. But as code is UNREADABLE, that is the only way I have to work.(My boss doesn't want rebuild theses sites).
Here is my question, does anybody know for ST2 a way (or a plugin) to split screen and click on screen preview to go right to the code line just like dreamweaver preview does ?

Dreamweaver vs aptana studio (for those who don't know coding)?

I am a web designer and developer but I don't know any scripting language. And I am looking for a robust web development WYSIWYG like software that can write code for me automatically in javascript and php.
Id go with dreamweaver because is has the design view as well as the code view. Aptana is more for developers rather than designers and developers. Dreamweaver will write some code for you (and you'll find out later that its crap!) so it'll get you used to the languages.
I used to work in Dreamweaver when I first started but now I can't get enough of Aptana.
WYSIWYG will only generate HTML page and a little JS at best. You need to know coding to offer interactive functionality.
You'll hate this answer but take some time to learn PHP and JavaScript - I stated off as a designer and tried to avoid code. Then instead of copying and pasting code hoping that it works I got to grips with the fundamentals of both languages and realised how easy it is and how there was nothing to fear.
Good resources are w3schools.com, stackoverflow (obviously) and my fav JavaScript books are DOM scripting by Jeremy Keith and Jeffrey Sambells and once you feel confident to learn some of the more advanced features of JavaScript, JavaScript Patterns by Stoyan Stefanov was helpful to me.
Like I say this doesn't actually answer your question. However Dreamweaver automatically produced a 700 line JS file for an interface action I wanted, using the resources above I did the same in an unobtrusive manner with 16 lines of code!
I realize this is an old thread but im sure the debate still rages on LOL... i've been a devote DW user for many many many years (Like since 2000 or so). I am a coder/developer... I never use DW auto complete or anything like that. Primarily the reason i've stuck with it is because my FTP is RIGHT THERE!... HOWEVER, LOL, I just ran into a problem where I needed to recover a file (all these years and i've never needed this feature). Anyway I just ran across this thread Recover Deleted Files in Aptana Studio 3? "By default Aptana Studio stores a history of up to 7 days if the file was within a project."... I guess i can live without having my ftp right there in the same program and just use filezilla. sigh lol. Also DW doesnt recognize keys which is a big let down but yea... anyway... I just started using Aptana Studio 3 so I hope I fall in love with it quickly lol I'm building my projects now :P
Well, just to clarify some stuff. Aptana does have ftp, and i even think it's easier to use than dreamweaver's ftp module...

An editor or IDE with a particular function

I am searching for an IDE or a small editor which have an ability to "allocate some part of code to a new tab".
Lets say i have a 1000 line file.
I want to quickly edit just one method - 30 lines for example.
I mark these 30 lines, click something and i am editing these lines in a new tab.
And when i have edition finished, it applies to a 1000line file.
I am using mainly Linux but if there is something windows-only program i will test it and give a shot for windows.
Please help me (:

This feature should be easy to implement in any scriptable editor. For example it took me less than a minute to write the following Zeus editor Lua macro that does exactly what you describe:

Zeus is a Windows based editor, but as I said before, this should be very easy to implement in any scriptable editor.
Files this large should be refactored and split anyway ;)
What's wrong with editing it in-place if you're going to merge it anyway? It's not like the editor will scale the font size to fit those 1000 lines onto your screen (right?!?)...
In case you desperately want a clear screen, about every editor should be able to quickly create a new file, let you copy, paste and edit the method there and let you copy it back. Yes, not as shiny as full IDE integration, but again: Why do you want to do this and why is it necessary?

Screen capture doesn't work on MFC application in Vista

We've got some in-house applications built in MFC, with OpenGL drawing routines. They all use the same code to draw on the screen and either print the screen or save it to a JPEG file. Everything's been working fine in Windows XP, and I need to find a way to make them work on Vista.
In three of our applications, everything works. In the remaining one, I can get the window border, title bar, menus, and task bar, but the interior never shows up. As I said, these applications use the exact same code to write to the screen and capture the window image, and the only difference I see that looks like it might be relevant is that the problem application uses the MFC multiple document interface, while the ones that work use the single document interface.
Either the answer isn't on the net, or I'm worse at Googling than I thought. I asked on the MSDN forums, and the only practical suggestion I got was to use GDI+ rather than GDI, and that did nothing different. I have tried different things with every part of the code that captures and prints or save, given a pointer to the window, so apparently it's a matter of the window itself. I haven't rebuilt the offending application using SDI yet, and I really don't have any other ideas.
Has anybody seen anything like this?
What I've got is four applications. They use a lot of common code, and share the actual .h and .cpp files, so I know the drawing and screen capture code is identical.
There is a WindowtoDIB() routine that takes a *pWnd, and a source rectangle and destination size. It looks like very slightly adapted Microsoft code, and I've found other functions in this file on the Microsoft website. Of my four applications, three handle this just fine, but one doesn't. The most obvious difference is that the problem one is MDI.
It looks to me like the *pWnd is the problem. I'm not a MFC guru by a long shot, and it seems to me that the problem may be that we've got one window setup in the SDIs, and more than one in the MDI. I may be passing the wrong *pWnd to the function.
In the meantime, it has started working properly on the 64-bit Vista test machine, although it still doesn't work on the 32-bit Vista machine. I have no idea why. I haven't changed anything since the last tests, and I didn't think anybody else had. (On the 32-bit version, the Print Screen key works as expected, but it does not save the screen as a JPEG.)
Your question title mentions screen capture but your actual question doesn't. Please elaborate more clearly. Is the problem that you can do screen capture of three of your applications, but not the fourth one? You can use different screen capture software that can capture OpenGL/DirectX windows. Those surfaces are handled directly by the Window Manager and won't show up with a simple 'PrtScn'.
Switching to GDI+ won't solve it, nor will switching to SDI.
If it's the content of the CView that you want, then yes, that should be right one. If it's the content of the whole screen (at least the content, without the toolbar(s) and status bar), then you should pass it the CMainFrame (that's the default name which may have been changed, the one that is derived from CMDIFrameWnd).
Can you post the code of WindowToDIB()? I've just tried it and It Works For Me (TM), but without OpenGL code in the view. Try passing the following windows to your WindowToDIB() function:
CMainFrame* mainfrm = static_cast<CMainFrame*>(::AfxGetMainWnd());
- mainfrm
- mainfrm->MDIGetActive()
- mainfrm->MDIGetActive()->GetActiveView()
and see what you get.
The contents of each window are directX surfaces and are only assembled by the window manager in the graphics card. You'd not be able to capture this unless you switch off the new interface (DWM) or code specifically for screen capture from the DWM.

Sorry, I still don't understand. You're trying to get the Print Screen key to work on all four applications? Or you're trying to get the WindowtoDIB() function to work, which takes a 'screenshot' (from within your own application) of the application itself, so that it can be saved as an image file?
Also, what do you mean with 'he Print Screen key works as expected, but it does not save the screen as a JPEG.'? Print Screen only copies to the clipboard, what happens when you paste in Paint?
If your WindowtoDIB() function only 'captures' the window you pass to it, then yes, your MDI child windows are not going to show up.
We eventually solved this by creating a different OpenGL context, and drawing everything to that. We gave up on the screen capture.
