I tried to add a video file in a raw folder that I created in the resource folder, but when I copy and paste the video file in the raw folder, it is not recognized by Android Studio. The icon of the video file displayed by Android Studio is a text file icon, and when I open the file, the following is shown:
Scrrenshot of the issue
I tried it with other video files, but the same thing still happened. I saw similar questions dating from last year and previous years on here, I tried all their solutions, but none of them worked.
Please, what should I do to make Android Studio recognize the file as a video file?
Any help will be appreciated.
The file cannot be played in Android Studio,
Because it does not contain multimedia player.
Go to the file path and run it externally.

Whenever I copy mp3 file to raw folder in Android studio it by default take it as yml file type ...please help me fix this
I try to make a app to stop and start service in background..but the raw folder store my song in yml file type...so it's not usable in my app..
I got an app created and the developer gave me the zip and apk files. I want to look at the code so I downloaded Android Studio but I don't know how to get the code to import so I can read the code. I have the zip files and apk file to the app but I have no idea what file I am supposed to import into Andriod Studio so I can look at the app's code.
I have read Android Developer's blog and searched on Youtube How to import existing projects into Android Studio but all the videos I have viewed are only showing out to update the girdle and not how to open the file to see the code.
APK is the built, packaged, usually obfuscated and digitally signed distribution of your app, so it is for your clients and not quite an easy task to consume from a source point of view.
So assuming that the app's source is in the ZIP file, if you extract it to folder your should be able to open that folder with Android Studio IDE. On the start screen you can choose Open an existing Android Studio package and once it is open you can navigate the source in the Project pane.
This article describes what files are expected in a typical Android Studio project: https://developer.android.com/studio/projects/#ProjectFiles - in a nutshell:
java folder - Contains the Java/Kotlin source code files (with .java or .kt extensions), separated by package names - usually in subdirectories - , including JUnit test code.
res folder Contains all non-code resources, such as XML layouts, UI strings, and bitmap images, divided into corresponding sub-directories. For more information about all possible resource types, see Providing Resources under the documentation above.
I want to use the "--ignore-gpu-blacklist" command line on Crosswalk in Android Studio.
It says I must write "--ignore-gpu-blacklist" in a "xwalk-command-line" file in "assets" folder.
But I have no "assets" folder. It seems to me that this folder was used to be used in older IDEs but not anymore in Android Studio. So I searched for where is this folder supposed to be, and I got several different paths... I am not sure that it is supposed to still work this way with Android Studio anyway.
I searched in XWalkPreferences.setValue(XWalkPreferences. and xWalkWebView.getSettings(). with no luck.
So, how to make Crosswalk ignore the gpu blacklist in Android Studio, does anybody know ?
I just installed android studio 3.0 on my pc. When I opened it up, it asked me to download the sdk first. So it brought up a window and started downloading. But then.. It doesn't download. I have a good internet connection so I dont think that can be the problem. It keeps trying to download a zip file, fails and starts over and this goes on infinitely. So my question is, is there a way to fix this or otherwise manually download the SDK? The website used to have a bundle which contains both but now it only contains the IDE.
If you would like download those files manually. When You Start The Download For Additional Setup. There would be a link written in logs. I am attaching an image for it. There would be similar images on your screen when downloading. When you would start download, Then Press Show Details Button You would See It As Shown In Figure.
Copy It And Paste On Browser. Extract Those File On Successful Download And Place Them At Path Specified By You For SDKs

I found some links to download the .icls files on the link below. However, just by adding the .icls files to the color folder is not doing the job.
Any pointers in right direction is appreciated. (I found only one dark theme here and looking for light themes).
How to change or add theme to Android Studio?
Found the issue: I was using firefox to download from the site and the site below was giving me a .zip file instead of .jar file. Used Chrome and got the .jar file. [Editor's note: the site previously linked here has changed owners and been replaced with spam, and has been edited out]
Steps to follow:
File > Import Settings. Select the .jar file.
Close and start Android studio (auto restart didn't work)
Settings > Editor > Colors and Fonts select your theme and you are good to go.
