I have Azure public IP, that points to Azure Container instances. For this I'm using load balancer:

I can navigate to http://40.68.242.95/ and see, that my website is working. How can I configure https connection for this public ip address? I.e. how can I make https://40.68.242.95/ from it?

I have a website hosted on 2 Azure VMs (Web Server: IIS, OS: Win 2016, Port: 80)
Both the VMs are a part of the same availability set and subnet.
And these VMs are added to the backend pool of the Azure Public LB.
Inbound NAT rules of the Azure LB are configured to redirect traffic received on Port:80 to the target VMs. NSG of the VM's subnet already have default rule "AllowAzureLoadBalancerInBound"
Is this one of the right configurations to access websites hosted on Azure VMs from outside without adding a public IP for the VMs?
What is the "None" setting for the target virtual machine configuration meant?
I am able to access the sites hosted on both the VMs from a different VM within the same VNet using private IPs of VMs. But I am not able to access the sites using the public IP address of the Azure LB.
Error: "The site can't be reached"
Current Configuration:
2 VMs (10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5)
Load balancer has a public IP.
One front end IP configuration is added with the LB's public IP. This frontend configuration is used within Inbound NAT rule.
Inboud NAT Rules:
Front end ip address: Public IP of load balancer, Service: HTTP, Protocol: UDP, Port: 80, Target Virtual Machine: None, Port Mapping: Default
Backend pools: Private IPs of both VMs are added to backend pool
Created a health probe with Port:80
Load balancing rules: None

I had to use LB rules themselves and not NAT rules. LB rules were not working initially when I tried to redirect traffic from the public internet to VMs with the only private IP address. Hence I started trying with NAT rules. This was the wrong choice. Thank you #Andriy. The root cause was identified after troubleshooting connectivity with a network watcher. The message was "Security rule DenyAllInBound". Requests from our machines reach the Azure VMs using a different IP and not with the IP of our ISP due to the Security tools installed on our system. Hence I added an inbound rule for this IP to make it work.

It is possible to traffic from Application Gateway to Internal LB.
Application Gateway support backends:
Public IP addresses
Internal IP addresses
FQDN

My health probe fails with a 403 as soon as I apply whitelisting to the App Service configured in the backend pool (I whitelist the IP that's assigned to the application gateway. IP is a standard tier and static.
Has anyone else been seeing this issue before? I was under the impression that I could whitelist the public IP assigned to the application gateway on the App Service so access is only possible from the Application Gateway endpoint.
The health probe is successful when I remove the whitelisting. So I'm sure it has something to do with that.

If the backend pool:
Is a public endpoint, the application gateway uses its frontend public
IP to reach the server. If there isn't a frontend public IP address,
one is assigned for the outbound external connectivity.
Contains an internally resolvable FQDN or a private IP address, the application gateway routes the request to the backend server by using
its instance private IP addresses.
Contains an external endpoint or an externally resolvable FQDN, the
application gateway routes the request to the backend server by using
its frontend public IP address. The DNS resolution is based on a
private DNS zone or custom DNS server, if configured, or it uses the
default Azure-provided DNS. If there isn't a frontend public IP
address, one is assigned for the outbound external connectivity.
Thus, you may use an internally resolvable FQDN or a private IP address of the backend app service in the backend pool.
In this case, you could change to use the default Azure app service hostname like webappname.azurewebsites.net or whitelist the internal app gateway subnet (where the application gateway instance private IP address) in the access restrictions of app service.
Need to configure a Azure Loadbalancer for VM's in VNet with only private IP's, but without VM's having public IP we cannot map to the loadbalancer. Why so?
Certainly, you can target VMs with only private IPs and without public IPs to the backend pool of Azure load balancer. If so, you could access the backend VMs via the load balancer public IP address.
For example, you can create a Standard Load Balancer as the internal or public load balancer. Standard Load Balancer is fully integrated with the scope of a virtual network. It supports the VMs with standard SKU public IP or without public IP in a VNet as the backend resources.

Should I just direct my domain name to the public IP address?
Because the IP is dynamic, if the port is destroy and recreate again, a new IP is generated.
Should I use Ingress/Nginx controller to manage the IP?
You can use A record points to the external IP address.
You can change the public IP address to static via Azure portal, in this way, restart the service will not change the IP.
But in Azure, if we delete the Azure AKS, the Public IP address will collected by Azure platform, and we will lose this IP address.
You can use kubernetes-incubator/external-dns to automatically update the A record in your Azure DNS zone with the (dynamic) IP of the Azure Loadbalancer or Ingress controller. Read here how to set up.
You're not limited to use Azure DNS, you could use other providers to, in v0.4: Google CloudDNS, AWS Route 53, AzureDNS, CloudFlare, DigitalOcean,
DNSimple, Infoblox

As Mohit said, we can set static public IP via Azure portal, and map your domian name to that Public IP address.
Because the IP is dynamic, if the port is destroy and recreate again,
a new IP is generated.
By default, AKS expose pods to internet will create a Kubernetes service, the Public IP address work for that service.
If one pod was not work(multiple pods), AKS will create another pod in your service and that will not get a new public IP. But if you only have one pod in that service and re-create that pod, we will get a new Public IP address.
For now, Azure does not support to keep the public IP address for AKS service.
