I am a newbie to macros but I was able to find and modify a macro to works for what I needed. The macro is for a Form that once filled out the user will push the "Save and email" button and the following will happen:
save location window will open, the file will be converted and saved as .pdf (the file name is predetermined based on cells information)
the active sheet will be converted to .pdf it will be attached to an email.
I was very proud of my achievement until I tested it on my Mac and realized that it will not work. Now, I am faced with a challenge of converting the macro from Windows to Mac in order for the keep the functionality of the Form.
Below is the tested code on a Windows Excel:
Sub Button9_Click()
Dim xSht As Worksheet
Dim xFileDlg As FileDialog
Dim xFolder As String
Dim xYesorNo As Integer
Dim xOutlookObj As Object, signature As String
Dim xEmailObj As Object
Dim xUsedRng As Range
Set xSht = ActiveSheet
Set xFileDlg = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFolderPicker)
If xFileDlg.Show = True Then
xFolder = xFileDlg.SelectedItems(1)
Else
MsgBox "You must specify a folder to save the PDF into." & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "Press OK to exit this macro.", vbCritical, "Must Specify Destination Folder"
Exit Sub
End If
xFolder = xFolder + "\" + xSht.Range("G3").Text + ".pdf"
'Check if file already exist
If Len(Dir(xFolder)) > 0 Then
xYesorNo = MsgBox(xFolder & " already exists." & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "Do you want to overwrite it?", _
vbYesNo + vbQuestion, "File Exists")
On Error Resume Next
If xYesorNo = vbYes Then
Kill xFolder
Else
MsgBox "if you don't overwrite the existing PDF, I can't continue." _
& vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "Press OK to exit this macro.", vbCritical, "Exiting Macro"
Exit Sub
End If
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
MsgBox "Unable to delete existing file. Please make sure the file is not open or write protected." _
& vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "Press OK to exit this macro.", vbCritical, "Unable to Delete File"
Exit Sub
End If
End If
Set xUsedRng = xSht.UsedRange
If Application.WorksheetFunction.CountA(xUsedRng.Cells) <> 0 Then
'Save as PDF file
xSht.ExportAsFixedFormat Type:=xlTypePDF, Filename:=xFolder, Quality:=xlQualityStandard
'Create Outlook email
Set xOutlookObj = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set xEmailObj = xOutlookObj.CreateItem(0)
With xEmailObj
.Display
.Subject = ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("FORM").Range("G3")
.To = "name"
.CC = " "
.body = "Hi ..," & vbLf & vbLf _
& "The Parts Request Form is attached in PDF format." & vbLf & vbLf _
& "Regards," & vbLf & vbLf _
& Application.UserName & vbLf & vbLf _

I've the task of finding or creating a new macro module that will save only the current sheet to PDF format (to the temp folder).
All I have been able to find that is close to what I want to do is what I have attached. This prompts the user for a save location.
How can I change this to, not prompt for save location and, save to the temp folder and then attach the pdf in an email through Outlook.
Sub Saveaspdfandsend()
Dim xSht As Worksheet
Dim xFileDlg As FileDialog
Dim xFolder As String
Dim xYesorNo As Integer
Dim xOutlookObj As Object
Dim xEmailObj As Object
Dim xUsedRng As Range
Set xSht = ActiveSheet
Set xFileDlg = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFolderPicker)
If xFileDlg.Show = True Then
xFolder = xFileDlg.SelectedItems(1)
Else
MsgBox "You must specify a folder to save the PDF into." & vbCrLf &
vbCrLf & "Press OK to exit this macro.", vbCritical, "Must Specify
Destination Folder"
Exit Sub
End If
xFolder = xFolder + "\" + xSht.Name + ".pdf"
'Check if file already exist
If Len(Dir(xFolder)) > 0 Then
xYesorNo = MsgBox(xFolder & " already exists." & vbCrLf & vbCrLf &
"Do you want to overwrite it?", _
vbYesNo + vbQuestion, "File Exists")
On Error Resume Next
If xYesorNo = vbYes Then
Kill xFolder
Else
MsgBox "if you don't overwrite the existing PDF, I can't
continue." _
& vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "Press OK to exit this macro.",
vbCritical, "Exiting Macro"
Exit Sub
End If
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
MsgBox "Unable to delete existing file. Please make sure the file
is not open or write protected." _
& vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "Press OK to exit this macro.",
vbCritical, "Unable to Delete File"
Exit Sub
End If
End If
Set xUsedRng = xSht.UsedRange
If Application.WorksheetFunction.CountA(xUsedRng.Cells) <> 0 Then
'Save as PDF file
xSht.ExportAsFixedFormat Type:=xlTypePDF, Filename:=xFolder,
Quality:=xlQualityStandard
'Create Outlook email
Set xOutlookObj = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set xEmailObj = xOutlookObj.CreateItem(0)
With xEmailObj
.Display
.To = ""
.CC = ""
.Subject = xSht.Name + ".pdf"
.Attachments.Add xFolder
If DisplayEmail = False Then
'.Send
End If
End With
Else
MsgBox "The active worksheet cannot be blank"
Exit Sub
End If
End Sub
In summary, you have all you need in code you had attached:
Delete this this is the prompt to select destination.
Set xFileDlg = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFolderPicker)
If xFileDlg.Show = True Then
xFolder = xFileDlg.SelectedItems(1)
Else
MsgBox "You must specify a folder to save the PDF into." & vbCrLf &
vbCrLf & "Press OK to exit this macro.", vbCritical, "Must Specify
Destination Folder"
Exit Sub
End If
After deleting this, you would have to add either string to path were to save file, i would suggest using some cell reference for that, as if you code that you might have some issue.
Nevertheless, in place of previously deleted lines insert:
xFolder = C:\fullpath\filename.pdf
although i would suggest:
xFolder = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Setup").Range("A1") 'something in those lines, you could name sheet to be safer.
Leave the part that checks if file exists, it may become handy as sometimes if you use shared drives they might be blocked by someone else and kill function will not work.
Rest should be fine.
I have an Excel sheet which is calculating the Performance Indicators of the Employees. I want to send their performance indicators via email. I am trying to use the following code.

When I try to run this code, it gives me the following error:
On debugging the code it shows me the following highlighted line.
Check the pdffile variable has valid path value, I can see you are generating the pdfile path.
I found this code online. It's suppose to extract a excel sheet to PDF and insert it as attachment in Outlook, but i'm having error at the second line of the code.
Dim xFileDlg As FileDialog

Link of problem
FileDialog works fine, most likely the problem is here:
If DisplayEmail = False Then
'.Send
End If
DisplayEmail neither declared as variable nor is a method of MailItem object.
And I can't get the meaning of this If statement - as it might be assumed this section is to check whether the MailItem is displayed and sends it if not (displayed), but the item is displayed 5 lines before.
If you don't need the email to be sent without your review - remove this part of code and try again.
Update
As appeared, most likely a reference to Microsoft Office [version] Object Library is not set in Visual Basic Editor >> Tools >> References menu.
I'm trying change the below to actually instead asking the path it should save to pre-definied path based on static variable + dynamic variable from cell.
If the folder dosen't exist it should be created.
Cansomeone guide me how to change this as I'm not VBA guru and it I can't find right solution at all.

This should Work:

The macro goes through each worksheet in the workbook, asks for a location to save each worksheet as a PDF, and then opens up an Outlook Email with a PDF attachment, one-by-one, ready to send to an end user.
I want to choose one location to save all PDF's without a prompt window coming up asking me where to save each worksheet.
