How can I apply a scroll/fling gesture to a VideoView - android-studio

I'm trying to make a scrollable VideoView. I want the scroll gesture of the user to make the videoview progress smoothly. I hope that makes sense.
I've tried to apply an OnTouchListener to the VideoView which then gives the MotionEvent to a GestureDetector and then I've tried overriding the OnScroll method of said GestureDetector. The video progresses but very abruptly and at unregular intervals.
I would be very thankful for any pointer that you could give me. I'm quite new to programming as you can probably tell so don't hesitate to dumb it down.

Step Counter in Android Studio doesn't count steps

I have a problem with an app I'm trying to develop in Android Studio. I'm trying to develop a step counter using the STEP_COUNTER sensor in a Fragment.I decided to show my results in a TextView ('mStepsSinceReboot'), but it keeps being empty. Do you have any idea on how to make it work?
An hypotesis is that I should use a Service, but online I only found implementations that don't require it.

Tracking selected tab and changing a textview accordingly

I'm working on my 1st android project, which uses a tab layout. I want to keep track of the active tab and change a textview present in the appbar (main activity).

I tried creating a variable in an abstract class then extending it into all three of these scripts which would be a simple solution but fragments dont seem to work well with extending, not to mention that probably isnt the most efficient method.
So I'm thinking the best method would be to simply handle it from the SectionsPageManager script?
Use addOnPageChangeListener on you pager.

Converting a sensor value using simple arithmetic

I am currently working on a light sensor. I managed to make the sensor work. But I want to change the value of the sensor being shown by multiplying it with 0.002 with a press of a button. I can't seem to get the code of the button to multiply because it keeps saying operator (*) cannot be applied to java.lang.String, double. I have tried the double.parse but can't seems to get to work. Here is my code:

Counting number of times android app goes into background

I'm developing an app which counts number of times the app goes to the background. It also retains the values when the orientation is changed. Though I have it working of all use cases, I have one use case which does not work.
Case : When I press the home button, change the phone's orientation and reopen the app, It does open in landscape mode but, the background count does not increase.
I have tried setting values in all the life cycle methods. It doesn't work. Hope somebody can help me with this.

Try handling it on onConfigurationChanged() of you have disabled Activity restarts on orientation changes. Otherwise, probably through this article you will find which case applies to your scenario.
By reading the problem description, I am assuming that if you don't rotate the device the application works as intended.
you need to persist the count in the SharedPreferences. each time you reopen the app read the last value from the SharedPreferences. And increment and save to SharedPreferences each time the app is hidden.

How to implement onActivityResult within RecyclerView Fragment

I am trying to have a button within a Tab which is part of an activity for uploading images, when clicking the button inside one of the 2 Tabs presented in the activity ( Tab 1 pics, Tab 2 Vid ) the user could choose an image from the device.
My problem is implemneting the onClick Listener and onActivityResult which is not being used when placed after onClick, plus the #Override is being underlined as an error.
I guess i am not implementing the onClick the right way and not sure how to activate onActivityResult the proper way, i would appreciate any guidance;

Not sure if the onClick listener for the button should be implemented in the Adapter or the View holder, and from there the issue of onActivityResult cant be used ?

The onClick listener should be implemented at the ViewHolder class followed by

onActivityResult.
within the onClickListener onActivityResult invoked by;
startActivityForResult(intent, RESULT_LOAD_IMAGE);
and within onActivityResult;
onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
Considering all of this taking place in an activity extending Fragment.
