How to pass GetIntent data from Activity to ViewModel - android-studio

I have LoaiSpActivity , DanhSachActivity and DanhSachSpViewModel for DanhSachActivity
So in LoaiSpActivity: i had putExtra a key & value called "idloaivatpham".
In DanhSachActivity: i have a function to get that key & value from key "idloaivatpham" into idkiem.
In DanhSachSpViewModel: i have a function to get data from Server but it will base on a Key & value (idkiem) to return data (in hash getParam()).
So now i want to pass the idkiem from DanhSachActivity to DanhSachSpViewModel but when i put idkiem = getIntent().getIntExtra("idloaivatpham", -1); in that ViewModel i got a error in getIntent(). So anyone have the solution please help me. Sorry for my english not very well.
Here is my code
LoaiSpActivity
private void CatchOnItemListView(List<LoaiVatPham> loaiVatPhams) {
listView.setOnItemClickListener(new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() {
#Override
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> adapterView, View view, int i, long l) {
switch (i){
case 0:
if(CheckConnection.haveNetworkConnection(getApplicationContext())){
Intent intent = new Intent(LoaiSpActivity.this, DanhSachSpActivity.class);
//truyen du lieu giua cac activity
intent.putExtra("idloaivatpham",loaiVatPhams.get(i).getId());
startActivity(intent);
}else{
CheckConnection.ShowToast(getApplicationContext(),"Check Internet Connection");
}
break;
case 1:
if(CheckConnection.haveNetworkConnection(getApplicationContext())){
Intent intent = new Intent(LoaiSpActivity.this, DanhSachSpActivity.class);
intent.putExtra("idloaivatpham",loaiVatPhams.get(i).getId());
startActivity(intent);
DanhSachActivity
private void GetIdLoaiSanPham() {
idkiem = getIntent().getIntExtra("idloaivatpham", -1);
Log.d("giatriloaisanpham", idkiem + "");
}
DanhSachSpViewModel
}) {
#Nullable
#Override
protected Map<String, String> getParams() throws AuthFailureError {
HashMap<String, String> param = new HashMap<String, String>();
param.put("idloaivatpham", String.valueOf(idkiem));
return param;
}
};
requestQueue.add(stringRequest);
}
My error when i put getIntent in ViewModel
idkiem = getIntent().getIntExtra("idloaivatpham", -1); // This have error at getIntent().

Android studio how to delete messages in chat properly

I'm facing an issue with deleting messages in my chat app. I have two types of messages, image and text. and I delete them like this:
DatabaseReference dbRef = FirebaseDatabase.getInstance().getReference("Chats");
Query query = dbRef.orderByChild("time").equalTo(msgTimeStamp);
query.addListenerForSingleValueEvent(new ValueEventListener() {
#Override
public void onDataChange(#NonNull DataSnapshot snapshot) {
for(DataSnapshot ds: snapshot.getChildren()) {
if (ds.child("sender").getValue().equals(myUID) && !ds.child("message").getValue().toString().equalsIgnoreCase("This message was deleted")) {
holder.messageLayout.setOnLongClickListener(new View.OnLongClickListener() {
#Override
public boolean onLongClick(View v) {
final AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(mContext);
View view = LayoutInflater.from(mContext).inflate(R.layout.custon_view_for_dialog, null);
builder.setView(view);
Button delete = view.findViewById(R.id.delete);
Button cancel = view.findViewById(R.id.cancel);
final AlertDialog dialog = builder.create();
dialog.getWindow().setBackgroundDrawable(new ColorDrawable(Color.TRANSPARENT));
delete.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
deleteMessage(position);
dialog.dismiss();
}
});
cancel.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
dialog.dismiss();
}
});
dialog.show();
return true;
}
});
}
}
#Override
public void onCancelled(#NonNull DatabaseError error) {
}
And here is the delete function:
private void deleteMessage(int position) {
String msgTimeStamp = mChats.get(position).getTime();
DatabaseReference dbRef = FirebaseDatabase.getInstance().getReference("Chats");
Query query = dbRef.orderByChild("time").equalTo(msgTimeStamp);
query.addListenerForSingleValueEvent(new ValueEventListener() {
#Override
public void onDataChange(#NonNull DataSnapshot snapshot) {
for (final DataSnapshot ds: snapshot.getChildren())
{
if(ds.child("type").getValue().equals("text"))
{
HashMap<String, Object> hashMap = new HashMap<>();
hashMap.put("message", "This message was deleted");
ds.getRef().updateChildren(hashMap);
}
else
{
FirebaseStorage firebaseStorage = FirebaseStorage.getInstance();
StorageReference storageReference = firebaseStorage.getReferenceFromUrl(ds.child("message").getValue().toString());
storageReference.delete().addOnSuccessListener(new OnSuccessListener<Void>() {
#Override
public void onSuccess(Void aVoid) {
HashMap<String, Object> hashMap = new HashMap<>();
hashMap.put("message", "This message was deleted");
hashMap.put("type","text");
ds.getRef().updateChildren(hashMap);
}
});
}
}
so my idea here is if the message is text, then I set the text as "This message was deleted" and if the message is an image, I change its type to text and set it also to "This message was deleted" and delete the image from Firebase Storage. The deleting works for me and here is how it looks like after deleting:
The issue I'm facing is that I can still delete the message even if it is already deleted!!
I don't want the AlertDialog for deleting to appear when I click on a deleted message !!.
as you can see I added this to my condition :
!ds.child("message").getValue().toString().equalsIgnoreCase("This message was deleted")
but the issue is still there, deleted messages can be deleted more than once! how can I prevent this from happening? please help

Searchview should filter only first 5 characters from a listview androidstudio

When i search it should only search first five characters from the array,
this is an app for finding dreams meaning, its like a dictionary app.
I added 2 listviews, and using a searchview to filter the results. but when i use searchview its searching the whole content in the array, and listing the result based on it which cause wrong results.
if i could search only the first five characters from these arrays, it will help me to get right results.
this is how i get the data from database
listView2 = findViewById(R.id.listView2);
sr_txt = findViewById(R.id.sr_txt);
listView = findViewById(R.id.listView);
databaseReference = FirebaseDatabase.getInstance().getReference("dreamapp");
dream1 = new Dream();
title_list = new ArrayList<>();
answer_list = new ArrayList<>();
arrayAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<>(this, R.layout.item, R.id.item, title_list);
arrayAdapter2 = new ArrayAdapter<>(this, R.layout.item2, R.id.item2, answer_list);
databaseReference.addValueEventListener(new ValueEventListener() {
#Override
public void onDataChange(#NonNull DataSnapshot snapshot) {
for (DataSnapshot d : snapshot.getChildren()) {
dream1 = d.getValue(Dream.class);
title_list.add(dream1.getTitle());
answer_list.add(dream1.getAnswer());
}
listView.setAdapter(arrayAdapter);
listView2.setAdapter(arrayAdapter2);
listView.setOnItemClickListener(new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() {
#Override
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int i, long id) {
Intent intent = new Intent(MainActivity.this, answer.class);
// String q = answer_list.get(i);
// String p =answer_list.get(i);
String q = (String) arrayAdapter2.getItem(i);
intent.putExtra("answer", q);
startActivity(intent);
}
});
}
#Override
public void onCancelled(#NonNull DatabaseError error) {
}
});
this is my searchview.
sr_txt.setOnQueryTextListener(new SearchView.OnQueryTextListener() {
#Override
public boolean onQueryTextSubmit(String query) {
MainActivity.this.arrayAdapter.getFilter().filter(query);
MainActivity.this.arrayAdapter2.getFilter().filter(query);
return false;
}
#Override
public boolean onQueryTextChange(String newText) {
MainActivity.this.arrayAdapter.getFilter().filter(newText);
MainActivity.this.arrayAdapter2.getFilter().filter(newText);
return false;
}
});
Please give more detail of what you want.It would be more clear if you dont mind uploading image of what you are getting and what you want.

Trouble with logic flow for filtering search method on CS50 Pokedex

The app compiles fine but initially it shows nothing in the list. When I use the search bar, it doesn't display my filtered information and when I get rid of search, the entire list is finally display. Any help would be really appreciated, this is my first time ever coding in Java.
Here is my adapter code.
public class PokedexAdapter extends RecyclerView.Adapter<PokedexAdapter.PokedexViewHolder> implements Filterable {
public static class PokedexViewHolder extends RecyclerView.ViewHolder {
public LinearLayout containerView;
public TextView textView;
PokedexViewHolder(View view) {
super(view);

#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
Pokemon current = (Pokemon) containerView.getTag();
Intent intent = new Intent(v.getContext(), PokemonActivity.class);
intent.putExtra("name", current.getName());
intent.putExtra("url", current.getUrl());
v.getContext().startActivity(intent);
}
});
}
}
private List<Pokemon> pokemon = new ArrayList<>();
private RequestQueue requestQueue;
private List<Pokemon> filteredPokemon = new ArrayList<>();
PokedexAdapter(Context context) {
requestQueue = Volley.newRequestQueue(context);
loadPokemon();
}

JsonObjectRequest request = new JsonObjectRequest(Request.Method.GET, url, null, new Response.Listener<JSONObject>() {

for (int i = 0; i < results.length(); i++) {
JSONObject result = results.getJSONObject(i);
String name = result.getString("name");
pokemon.add(new Pokemon(
name.substring(0, 1).toUpperCase() + name.substring(1),
result.getString("url")
));
}
notifyDataSetChanged();
} catch (JSONException e) {
Log.e("cs50", "Json error", e);
}
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
Log.e("cs50", "Pokemon list error");
}
});
requestQueue.add(request);
}
#NonNull
#Override
public PokedexViewHolder onCreateViewHolder(#NonNull ViewGroup parent, int viewType) {
View view = LayoutInflater.from(parent.getContext()).inflate(R.layout.pokedex_row, parent, false);
return new PokedexViewHolder(view);
}
#Override
public void onBindViewHolder(#NonNull PokedexViewHolder viewholder, int position){
Pokemon results = pokemon.get(position);
viewholder.textView.setText(results.getName());
viewholder.containerView.setTag(results);
}
#Override
public int getItemCount() {
return filteredPokemon.size();
}
#Override
public Filter getFilter() {
return new PokemonFilter();
}
private class PokemonFilter extends Filter {
#Override
protected FilterResults performFiltering(CharSequence constraint) {
// implement your search here
FilterResults results = new FilterResults();
if (constraint == null || constraint.length() == 0) {
//No filter implemented return whole list
results.values = pokemon;
results.count = pokemon.size();
}
else {
List<Pokemon> filtered = new ArrayList<>();
for (Pokemon pokemon : filtered) {
if (pokemon.getName().toUpperCase().startsWith(constraint.toString())) {
filtered.add(pokemon);
}
}
results.values = filtered;
results.count = filtered.size();
}
return results;
}
#Override
protected void publishResults(CharSequence constraint, FilterResults results) {
filteredPokemon = (List<Pokemon>) results.values;
notifyDataSetChanged();
}
}
}
I really am not sure what is going on and given my knowledge of the subject, you could really help with understanding the logic better. Please let me know if there is any other information you would like from me about the code.
You might have already solved it and finished the Android tracks but this was the only thing I changed and it seemed to work after that.
for (Pokemon pokemon : pokemon) {
if (pokemon.getName().toUpperCase().startsWith(constraint.toString().toUpperCase()) {
filtered.add(pokemon);
}
}

I want add multiple Data Items of same date in single Card View in Android

I want data to be displayed as shown in imageenter image description here
I want to add multiple item of same date in single card view instead of creating another card view for the item of same date
I have tried in Android Studio grouping recycler view called as sanctioned Recycler view where I used date as header but it's not the solution

I want to add multiple items of same date in same single single card view but instead it is creating multiple Card View for multiple items of same date
You have to use RecyclerView Multiple ViewTypes. for detail please check this example.
Also visit this example.
Yeah I found the solution it worked perfect for Me.....we
have to just make changes to the card View by removing
spaces..
.
like this below...
<android.support.v7.widget.CardView
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
card_view:cardMaxElevation="0.1dp"
xmlns:card_view="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
android:background="#303030"
card_view:cardElevation="5dp"
android:foreground="?android:attr/selectableItemBackground"
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_marginLeft="#dimen/dp_2"
android:layout_marginRight="#dimen/dp_2">
<...Your All Text Boxes and further Layout inside this
cardView...>
</android.support.v7.widget.CardView>
and I have add Header for each CardView....and it looks like
this
Outout is shown in below image

Creating a very custom list

I'm developping an application, and now, I don't know what to do next:
I have a list of elements, each element has some informations + an ID + a logo.
What I want to do is creating a list like in the picture
List
Of course, I want it in a single layer, with the logo, some informations, and a button to define an action; where I could use the ID of the selected item.
I did some research, may be I found some relative subjects, but none of what I want.
My list is a
ArrayList<ArrayList<String>>
filled by data from database.
Thank you
Here it is:
public class Avancee extends Activity {
// Log tag
private static final String TAG = MainActivity2.class.getSimpleName();
// Movies json url
private static final String url = "http://blabla.com/movie.json";
private ProgressDialog pDialog;
private List<Movie> movieList = new ArrayList<Movie>();
private ListView listView;
private CustomListAdapter adapter;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
listView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.list);
adapter = new CustomListAdapter(this, movieList);
listView.setAdapter(adapter);
pDialog = new ProgressDialog(this);
// Showing progress dialog before making http request
pDialog.setMessage("Loading...");
pDialog.show();
// changing action bar color
getActionBar().setBackgroundDrawable(
new ColorDrawable(Color.parseColor("#1b1b1b")));
// Creating volley request obj
JsonArrayRequest movieReq = new JsonArrayRequest(url,
new Response.Listener<JSONArray>() {
#Override
public void onResponse(JSONArray response) {
//Log.d(TAG, response.toString());

movie.setTitle(obj.getString("title"));
movie.setLocation(obj.getString("location_search_text"));
movie.setId(obj.getInt("id"));
// adding movie to movies array
movieList.add(movie);
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
}catch(JSONException e){
Log.e("log_tag", "Error parsing data "+e.toString());
}
// notifying list adapter about data changes
// so that it renders the list view with updated data
adapter.notifyDataSetChanged();
}
}, new Response.ErrorListener() {
#Override
public void onErrorResponse(VolleyError error) {
VolleyLog.d(TAG, "Error: " + error.getMessage());
hidePDialog();
}
});
// Adding request to request queue
AppController.getInstance().addToRequestQueue(movieReq);
}
#Override
public void onDestroy() {
super.onDestroy();
hidePDialog();
}
private void hidePDialog() {
if (pDialog != null) {
pDialog.dismiss();
pDialog = null;
}
}
#Override
public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) {
// Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present.
getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.main, menu);
return true;
}
}
It's the "id" that I want to get in the OnClick event.
use this code
listView.setOnItemClickListener(new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() {
#Override
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> adapterView, View view, int position, long l) {
Movie movie= movieList.get(position);
}
});
//here position will give you the id of listview cell so you can use it like
Movie movie= movieList.get(position);
then you can use it get all the data inside your moview object
