How can check the excel sheet direction with python?. my mean is Left_to_Right or Right_to_Left.
You need to load the workbook using formatting_info parameter like below.
wb = xlrd.open_workbook("table.xls", formatting_info=True)
You can then use wb.xf_list attribute to retrieve formatting information like text_direction. Each cell in the workbook will have have an xf_index attribute allowing you to retrieve corresponding information in the wb.xf_list.
According to the documentation, these are the possible values for the text_direction attribute.
0 = according to context; 1 = left-to-right; 2 = right-to-left

My goal is to modify an existing Workbook ( example - master_v2.xlsm ) and produce a new workbook (Newclient4) based on the updates made to master_v2.
I'm using a single sheet within master_v2 to collect all the data which will be determining what the new workbook will be.
Currently using multiple if statements to find the value of the cells in this "repository" sheet. Based on specific cells, I'm creating and adding values to copies of an existing sheet called "PANDAS".
My goal right now is to create a dict based on two columns. The loop through
the keys so that every time I get a hit on a cell, I will gather values from specific keys.

Instead of the many if statements I was hoping to be able to loop through the column as explained above,
once I found my value, gather data and copy it over to a copy of sheet which is then filled out by other cells. Each time the loop comples, I want to do repeat on the next match of the string.. but I'm only this far and it's not quite working.
Anyone have a way to get this working?

I am trying to adjust some workbook audit code for the new threaded comments. Basically the code would cycle through all workbook comments (notes) and consolidate them into a new sheet at the end of the workbook.
With what is now notes, I use the following (noting cmt1 is declared as a comment object and wsSource is a worksheet object)
For Each cmt1 In wsSource.Comments
'Collect comment data for testing/pasting
strSheetname = wsSource.Name

strCellref = cmt1.Parent.Address
strContent = cmt1.Parent.Formula
etc.
Now with threaded comments, the same type of approach didn't work. I am trying to do a numerical loop using a counter and having code like the below:
For x = 1 to wsSource.commentsthreaded.count
However the count property doesn't work. According to the nmicrosoft website, it should be one of the 4 available properties.

Issue resolved - it looks like the problem was the Excel version. I was running 1904 and it now works since updating to 1906.
I have a spreadsheet that has a number of check boxes in various cells on the sheet that I need to get the value of (checked/unchecked) from within a c# program.
I'm using the OpenXML SDK v2.5 and the associated toolbox.
Using the toolbox I can see the check box controls as part of the AlternateControlParts collection. These are not ActiveX checkboxes but are form controls added via the developer tab in Excel.
When I use the SDK I can also see the WorkSheetPart which has a ControlPropertiesParts collection on it which lists all the checkboxes.
My problem is, how do I find which checkbox is in which cell or at least related to which cell?
I have also found the collection
wsPart.ControlPropertiesParts.First().DrawingsPart
.WorkSheetDrawing.DrawingsPart.WorkSheetDrawing
This collection appears to have the alternate content of each of the checkboxes and if I drill down further I can find the anchor points which appear to give the location of the checkboxes relative to the cells on the sheet. However, the col and row Id’s don’t appear to exactly match up and I suspect that the Offset values may also have something to do with it.
If someone can point me in the right direction on how to map the checkboxes to the correct row/cells I would be very grateful.

I have a solution, it contains only the logic (The property FormControlProperties is available since Office 2010:

But it is simplier to map the FormControl value to a cell and read the cell value if the you can edit the excel file.

Each element of the 'all_data' vector has a corresponding matrix in separate excel sheet. The code above imports the last matrix only into all of the variables. Could somebody tell me how to get it so I can import these matrices into individual matlab variables (without calling the xlsread function 28 times)?
You define a loop using i but then put sheet in the actual xlsread call, which will just make it read repeatedly from the same sheet (the value of the variable sheet is not changing). Also not sure whether you intend to somehow save the contents of all_data, as written there's no point in defining it that way as it will just be overwritten.
There are two ways of specifying the sheet using xlsread.
1) Using a number. If you intended this then:
all_data{i} = xlsread(filename, i, xlRange);
2) Using the name of the sheet. If you intended this and the contents of all_data are the names of sheets, then:
data{i} = xlsread(filename, all_data{i}, xlRange); %avoiding overwriting
When my Office Writer Excel report opens, it randomly un-hides some of the hidden cells and columns. I have verified that it is not the data that causes the columns or cells to not be hidden. Has anyone experienced this before and is there a way to make sure that all columns or cells stay hidden when the excel file is opened?
I work for SoftArtisans. We have not had any other reports of programmatically hidden columns becoming visible in the output file. We also have not been able to reproduce the behavior you are reporting. It would be helpful to see a code snippet, as well as to know which version of OfficeWriter you are using and which version of Excel is being used to open the output file.
There are two ways to hide columns with our API, both using the ColumnProperties object. You can set the hidden property to true or set the width property to zero. You could do both if you like, although that shouldn't be necessary.
