When I start a new project in Android Studio, I always have to change the default domain name in the package name (the default is com.example).
Is there a way to change the default domain name to my domain so that I don't have to do this every time I start a new project?
The package specified in the New Project dialog in the Package name parameter will be saved after the project is created in the SAVED_ANDROID_PACKAGE parameter in the file ~/.config/Google/AndroidStudio2021.3/options/other.xml. The path is different on different OS and different IDE versions. Read for Find your configuration files
You can try the following ways:
The classic way to solve all problems: Invalidate cache and restart
Close IDE. Manually change SAVED_ANDROID_PACKAGE. Run IDE
Check permissions to the configuration folder
Close IDE. Delete (make a backup!!!) configuration folder. IDE will start as freshly installed and create a new configuration

first post here hello everyone;
im trying to setup flutter without android studio in Ubuntu 19.10, but im having some problems to set up the android sdk:
Android sdkmanager tool not found (/home/mateo/tools/bin/sdkmanager).
my sdk is actually located in /home/mateo/tools/cmdline-tools/latest/bin, how can i change the variable (or whatever it is) to point to the new location?
this is what i get in the terminal
i've already tried changing the following env variables, but the error is still there.
export ANDROID_SDK_HOME='/home/mateo/cmdline-tools/latest/bin/sdkmanager'
export ANDROID_HOME='/home/mateo/cmdline-tools/latest/bin/sdkmanager'
thanks in advance
Go to Start Menu
Search for "Edit the system Environmental Variables"
Under the section "User Variables", create New Variable and name it "ANDROID_HOME"
And give the path of "ANDROID_HOME" to your new location. Use browse directory to set SDK location
Create another Variable named "ANDROID_SDK_HOME" and provide same path as previous one.
That should do it
How can I change settings.json (or whatever) so that when I launch VSC, that a workspace (or literally just a directory) opens up automatically.
I have already reviewed this other great answer How to open a default workspace when launching Visual Studio Code?
However I need to do this on brand new, newly provisioned machines that are ephemeral (meaning they get destroyed and recreated from scratch). That means that simply memorizing what I did once, does not help.
Also.... is there a way to do the same thing where the integrated terminal is already open as well? I can't seem to find knobs for either of the above in the settings.json.
This is on linux servers that students will open in their web browser using vs code server.
When I try to startup my project w/ IIS Express I get the error:
enter image description here
VS 2017
Project Properties
Debug
Launch Browser //http://localhost:5000 or whatever
Uncheck Enable SSL
App Url //http://localhost:5000 or whatever. make sure same with Launch Browser url
Save and Close
Open launchsettings.Json under Properties (Solution Explorer)
Make sure old settings is deleted. If not delete it.
Save and Close.
Hope it helps
I encountered this error when trying to launch a downloaded project in which the target framework version was different from the version installed in my environment. I opened the “.csproj” file in a text editor, corrected the version in the “TargetFramework” node and saved the modified file. In order to be sure to make the changes take effect, I closed and reopened the Visual Studio solution containing the project. Then the project started correctly.
I'm using the VS2013 Installer extension to build a web service installer.
The problem I'm having is that after installing this service, if I go to the inetpub folder, I find no reference to the service I just installed, and the service is evidently installed in the local source folder instead.
This behaviour is consistent regardless of where the installer is run from on the HDD.
If anyone has any insight on this, I'd appreciate it. I assumed that the installation directory would be determined based on the inetpub folder used by the Default Web Site, but it doesn't appear to be.
I have this extension installed in VS2012, but it crashes VS when I try to open it (View > Other Windows > Mindscape File Explorer)
Is there a standard location in the registry or elsewhere where VS extensions store settings? I had set the home folder of the extension to a sym link that no longer exists and I think I might be the cause of the issue. I want to try and reset the extension settings.
I've uninstalled VS, wiped some entries from the registry, removed VS appdata folders etc, nothing worked so far.
I have found settings for the extension in an xml file named as user.config
under [user_home]\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation\DefaultDomain_Url_(....)\10.0.(....)\
There is no standard, no. It's typically written under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio, but extensions can and do put things in other places.
