You can download the latest version from Android's official site:

I downloaded Android Studio 3.1 and created a project. I did nothing in it and ran the project. Do I need to install any image?
Initial Screen - API version
Below screen comes when i click on run
I had Android version 2.2.2. I uninstalled it and installed version 3. After this, I was unable to download image for emulator.
I finally had to format the drive to get everything done again in first time.
you need to set your console to developer mode (i'm windows 10 user)
if you windows 10 user go to setting - update&security - for developers -
choose developer mode at use developer features
You need an emulator if you do not want to run your app directly in an physical android device. However, check if your PC supports or have libraries to run an emulator
NO, just check your PC config to run an emulator. Or you can download an emulator to run your app on Pc.There are many emulators with fewer config requirements.
You need the image to use simulator, besides, you may also need to change BIOS setting to enable virtualization if you are using Windows OS
I'm pretty keen on getting to run my first app in a emulator in Android Studio. But to be able to do that I need to set up a AVD and for that I need to download a system-image through Android Studio.
How ever it looks like my space on my root is too small for that:

Is there a way to change the download folder inside Android Studio?
Or is the only way to solve this by increasing the space on root in some way?
Best regards
Fredrik
Turn out that I needed to upgraded to Android Studio 3.1.2 and since I use a too old computer I am aiming to run my app on a real device.
Best regards

I've searched all over the web for the past 3 days and can't seem to find a solution. I've done everything mentioned in this post:
Android emulator not showing in Visual Studio
It seems all the 'working' solutions to this problem has been stated in what this guy says he did in his original post, including restarting ADB server (kill and start), restarting my computer, reinstalling emulator and HAMX, installing and running as an admin, changing the timeout delay, reinstalling almost everything, making sure my emulator is installed, etc.
It keeps saying Gradle build finished in 475ms, etc and then waiting for target device to come online for like 5-10 minutes and nothing happens. No emulator shows up. I can't seem to find the solution to this and I am on the verge of giving up, I really need Android Studio to work so I can start on my app.
Can I please get some guidance with this?
If it's relevant, I'm using a Mac.
Have you tried this. Go to the emulator settings and set the Graphics Emulation mode to Software GLES. The default mode will be automatic. I am not sure how it works, but that worked for me on two Linux machines. Being software emulation, the performance of the emulator will not be as good as when using hardware graphics. It seems to be a bug with the SDK.
For me the only thing that worked in macos was to disable docker before starting Studio.
Wipe the data of your Android virtual Device and then start the emulator.
I was using Android studio 4.2 and faced this issue.
No Solutions worked for me so I just erased android studio files. Updated to Android Studio Arctic Fox.

My current Android Studio installation (linux-64bit) is showing a pop-up saying there is a new Version of Android Studio 2.
I am unable to download the current stable of Android Studio.
The download-link (on big green button) reffers to the Terms and Conditions. If i Accept and klick the button (which is showing no text, which is also strange) it redirects me to the index page again.
Here is the index page: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Have they withdrawn the release or something? Does anybody know a direct-link?
Thank you for any help on it
You need to have a little patience and try to check for update from time to time until you'll be able to update Android Studio from within the IDE. I encountered the same issues as you but after a while it worked well.
My advise is to wait with the upgrading to 2.0 and stick with your 1.5 version because a lot of people here have problems with Android Studio 2.0 (for now it is kind of buggy, maybe later Google will fixed some issues...).
As an example of my problems with Android Studio 2.0 I've posted recently, check this: After upgrading to Android Studio 2.0, I cannot change the screen orientation in the Android emulator, but of course it is your decision to upgrade or not :) .
P.S. I'm a linux user too.
As this is entirely a new version, you will not be able to update (or upgrade) from within the app.
You will have to download the installer and install at the same location replacing your Android studio 1.5
I did the same thing and is working for me.
