I have tried Alt + Enter, but can't see the import option in the menu. There are only create options. How to import view class in android studio.
Your build is probably broken. Check the Build tab and the gradle console for any issues and also your build.gradle files for any typos or problems with the code.

I tried to import an eclipse project into android studio it causes unresolved errors so after searching i found out that i should import android.manifest instead of gradle so when i tried to import it again it said cannot import project as shown bellow.
so my question is how can i remove existing project so i can import again ?

I updated from Android Studio 2.3 to 3.0 and now none of the previews on the XML editors are shown.
I can see a null in the top bar in the API level selector and it does not give me any option to pick

I tried Invalidate cache and restart but it does not seem to help.

I'm using Android Studio, and I'm trying to add the slf4j library using
Build/Edit Libraries and Dependencies.
I clicked on the +, selected Library Dependency, and picked slf4j from the list. Studio added the library to my build.gradle file like this:
dependencies {
compile 'com.android.support:support-v4:24.1.1'
compile 'org.slf4j:slf4j-android:1.7.7'
...
But when I try to run sync, I get this error:
Error:(75, 10) Failed to resolve: org.slf4j:slf4j-android:1.7.7
Is there something else I need to do to my project to be able to use this library??
Turns out what was causing this issue for me (and likely for you, given the build file above) was the Scala plugin. There was a bug with the Scala plugin preventing Android Studio from importing Gradle projects. The fix for this has already been pushed live, so to get Android Studio working again you can either disable the Scala plugin or update it.
Open Settings/Preferences
Open the Plugins section on the left
Find the Scala plugin
Right click on the plugin and click Reload List of Plugins
Right click on the plugin again and click Update Plugin
This allowed me to do a Gradle sync and build from Android Studio again, I hope it helps for you!
It looks like this is a bug with Android Studio. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
In the meantime, you can debug your application without launching it from Android Studio by attaching the debugger to a running process of the application. You can do this two ways.
Via the menus: Run -> Attach Debugger to Android Process
Pressing the button that is two to the right of the play/build button. It looks like a grey phone/rectangle with a little green bug in the bottom right
After you do this, a dialog will show up listing available applications to debug. Select your application and press OK. Your breakpoints should now work.
If you need to debug something that happens on app startup, you can tell Android to wait for a debugger when launching certain applications with the following steps:
On the phone open the Android Settings
Open the Developer Options
Make sure Wait for debugger is checked
Press Select debug app and choose your application
Then when you start your application, it'll wait for you to attach a debugger via one of the two methods mentioned above.

In order to get the maven repository working with my Android Studio project (which I didn't know is what I was trying to do), I needed to add the following to build.gradle:

Apparently, that allows the software to work out the compile commands.
I'm trying to improve my android development skills, so working on some project about it. In my project, I added a new "Navigation Drawer Activity", then I deleted it because I wanted to create a new one but I can not able to add even another type of activitiy. Android studio adds ,

tag in AndroidManifest.xml but It doesn't create any classes and xml layout files.

Try to add a simple JavaClass and write an "extends Activity" behind the class name. And put this new Activity in the Manifest like in your example. You can add a menu and a layout like this, too, when you add xml-Files in the layout and menu folders. This should work.
I can not find a exact solution to that problem. Re-installed the Android Studio . It does the solution manually
If it's about how Activities is not showing up as an option in either the shortcut menu in the Layout folder or File + New in the menu, you can try File + "Sync Project with Gradle files" and give it some time.
This also adds options to the Tools menu (great if AVD or SDK Manager is missing).
I am teaching android app programming at a highschool. I found Eclipse to fragile so we are now trying out Android Studio. But a couple of students get that Android Studio with R. in red font, showing that it is not recognized.
This happened for example when the student copied the contents of my files.
It sometimes happens when you open a proyect from other sources. Just Synchronize it or press Ctrl-Alt-Y.
R.java file issues : 1) check the naming convention of images in drawable folder with size.
2) check the style of your application
In your case it may be missing style .. So upadate the style in value folder as per application .
The most common reason for this error is bad XML coding. For example using android:src="#drawable#drawable/picture" in ImageView will give you R error as it will not let R.Java file to build. Its hard to trace such errors as XML file will not show any error.
Also take a look if your resources are of good quality!

To migrate existing Android projects, simply import them using Android Studio:

Click Import Non-Android Studio project.
Locate the project you exported from Eclipse, expand it, select the build.gradle file and click OK.
In the following dialog, leave Use gradle wrapper selected and click OK. (You do not need to specify the Gradle home.)
Android Studio properly updates the project structure and creates the appropriate Gradle build file.
First if the existing project was developed in eclipse you need to import the project and then check what are the error. If your students are coping codes from your project then after coping the codes they need to clean and sync the project. If still your problem not solved try this in android studio :-
File/invalidate caches/restart.

Especially, for regeneration of R.Java file.
If you have tried all these options:
Clean Project
Rebuild Project
Invalidate Caches / Restart
deleted .gradle folder
deleted .idea folder
deleted app/build/generated folder
checked your xml files
checked your drawables and strings
and still face problem then check your classpath dependency in your Project Gradle Scripts and if it's, this:
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.3.2'
then downgrade it to, this:
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.2.1'
clean and rebuild it will sync your project.
I had the same issue, and the lint gave me a hand...
If you're using lint, it can help too.
In gradle.build(Module:app) add the lintOptions sub-element in android element as shown below, then lint will fix it for you!!.
