Problem with Excel IF function having too many arguements - excel

I'm trying to automate a task for myself to see if I can see if an item is "overdue". However, I also wanted to add in a feature where if the item has been returned, then I won't be warned that that item is overdue. This is what I came up with so far:
=IF(OR(AND(A2<=TODAY()-14)), AND(D2=returned),"Overdue","Not due")
I'm currently trialling a 2 week loan period, where if the item is returned not returned within 14 days, I want the B column to show "overdue".
In my excel sheet, I'm currently trying to have cell B2 to show "not due" because while it has been more than 14 days, the item has been "returned" as can be seen from column D.

=IF((OR(A2>TODAY(), D2="returned")), "Not Due", "Overdue")
Use the syntax for Example 2 to get a clean OR
Switch Not Due and Overdue because it is easier to reason about with OR than AND
Put quotes around "returned". Note you could use LOWER(D2) if you want to control for capitalization

=IF(AND(A2<=(TODAY()-14), D2<>"returned"),"Overdue","Not due")

Airtable/Excel multiple if statement help (syntax seems the same)

Just started up on Airtable and liking it already.
I'm looking to write some code so that if a cell in one column (e.g. October-19) is within September-November (which it is) the cell with the formula in will show 'Q1 Y2' (our quarters run September-August, don't ask why!).
The problem is I will have to do a huge nested if statement for every month, and then when we get to September-20 the formula will output 'Q1 Y3' and I'll have to run through the next 12 months. Any ideas?

IF({Completion Month}='November-20',"Q1-Y2",
IF({Completion Month}='December-20',"Q2-Y2", etc...
I've tagged this as excel as the if statement syntax seems to be the same.

How to resolve a #Name? error in Excel when using IF Logic with TODAY function

I am working with a table of data that includes hire dates of employees. I want the adjacent column to first check whether the [HIRE DATE] is blank. If blank; I want it to return NO. If not blank, I want it to check whether that hire date is within 6 months from today (6 past months) and return YES if true and NO if false.
I have tried the following formula but I keep receiving a "#NAME?" error message and I can't figure out how to resolve this. I feel like this formula is close but something is definitely off.
=IF([HIRE DATE]="",NO,(IF([HIRE DATE]>TODAY()-180,YES,NO)))
Use quotes:

How to fix a Index+Match based on input value thats also dynamic

I have a great challenge I hope you can help me with.
What I want to achieve:
In the sheetname “Overal campaign information” I have an identical setup to the other sheetnames (for example Week 1 – Email, Week 1 – CPC and so on).
I want to user to first select their week and year and based (under E1) on these to selections, you can select a type that matches that week and year input.
What have I tried?
I have written an INDEX+MATCH that works well, but that is based on a hard coded sheet name and is not dynamic.
I have also tried the INDIRECT function to find information regardless of worksheet name, but failed hard
I have tried to CONCATENATE year+week to get a key to match against point 1, but also not succeeded

Based on the time frame selection (week and year) the type will show available types that matches that input.
Then it will fill in the information in C1:C13 and B17:V:300
Not really clear what you means by "fill in the information in C1:C13". But formula in 'Overal campaign information'!B17 could be
=OFFSET(INDIRECT("'Week "&$F$2&" - " & $F$4&"'!$B$17"),ROW(B17)-17,COLUMN(B17)-2)
This then can be filled into 'Overal campaign information'!B17:V300.

Excel match multiple records from timetable

I just stuck with my school homework, it seems easy, but there is always different errors and mistakes.
Context
All I need is to connect information from 3 pages.
The first one is timetable of trainings.
The second page is "groups"

Question
1) Here is my first question. How I can put the time from the "timetable" page ?
I tried vlookup with the easiest group "children 5-7" but even this doesnt work.
The problem is that there is many possible times of some groups and I need the answer like "17:00, 18:00 etc" then.
2) The second question is with the page "players".
Firstly I need to match group or coach from page "groups". For children all is simple, but excel dont want to work even with this. But, there is one problem more. In adult group there cant be more than 4 players in one group, that why I have TK1, TK2, TK3 and TK4 - all this are for adult A. and TK11, TK22 etc are for adult B. So when its done we should match court and time from page "groups".

I try to give you some ideas about how to solve your issues
Question 1:
The issue you have with VLOOKUP is that you cannot search on the left of your lookup value in the reference table. As suggested above by BruceWayne, you may use INDEX/MATCH. Considering the structure of your data a good formula could be:
=INDEX('timetable try here'!B:G,MATCH(A2,CHOOSE(B2,'timetable try here'!C:C,'timetable try here'!D:D,'timetable try here'!E:E,'timetable try here'!F:F,'timetable try here'!G:G),0),1)
In fact I am using CHOOSE() to select the column where your case should match, because your courts are numbers from 1 to 5. You may replace this formula in the column D under the label Time in your sheet named "groups try here". By the way the result that you get is only the first occurrence (in case you see a zero with some decimals figures, remind to change format to hours), so you will not be able to get the list as you like. As far as I know Excel does not have such kind of formulas. What you could do is create a VBA formula by yourself. You can find more details in this other post always here in StackOverflow, where I replied to a similar question with some code. I believe that your case is exactly the same.
Question 2
In this part I just added the last argument to the VLOOKUP and your formula works. So the correct formula should be in cell E2 of "players try here":
=VLOOKUP(D2,'groups dont try here'!A2:C15,3,0)
and in cell F2 (Court) of the same sheet:
=VLOOKUP(D2,'groups dont try here'!A2:C15,2,0)
I believe you need also a formula to pick-up the time in cell G2 (time):
=VLOOKUP(D2,'groups dont try here'!A2:D15,4,0)
These formulas of course works with suitable groups starting with "children". For the others it is not very clear to me what you need. If you have grouped all TK in Adult A and Adult B you need to have some criteria to fill in the other cells from your sheet 'groups dont try here'. Also remind that if you recode the TK1 and TK2 (for instance by adding a new column to be used as key for the VLOOKUP), with VLOOKUP you will always pick up only the first occurrence in the table.

Any solution to the Today Calculated Column problem is SharePoint?

I would like to be able to use today's date in a calculated column in a SharePoint list to, for example, determine whether a task is overdue. There is a well-documented trick that involves creating a dummy column named "Today," using it in a formula, and then deleting it, thereby "tricking" SharePoint into using the Today function.
The problem is that this method does not work reliably -- the calculation is not dynamic; it is only made when the item is saved, and therefore the Today "column" effectively becomes the Modified Date. (This is probably why SharePoint won't let you use the Today function in a straight-forward way.)
Has anyone found a solution that works? I know I can use javascript to get the actual date on the client side and display colors, flags, whatever, but I am looking for a "server side" solution.

There simply isn't a work around for this. As the values for the list are stored in the database and returned "as is" to other featurs such as the search crawler, a dynamic field cannot be created.
It is possible to create a custom field that will display the value using todays date in its calculation.

The Truth about using Today in calculated columns
There are a number of fudges, probably the best one is Dessie's console app (mentioned above by MNM)
Dynamically updating a SharePoint calculated column containing a Today reference
Its good but its not perfect, for example you may have to worry about different timezones.
Before going down this route you should ask yourself if you really, really need to do this. For example :-
If you want a countdown (days overdue/days left to complete a task) then you can use SPD and a XLST Data View web part
If you want a view to show overdue items or items created in the last X days ec then you can use [Today] in a views filter 2
If you create a Today column it needs to be updated. You can do that with either a timer job or by placing a jquery script on a page that is hit by the user. The script could call SPServices.SPUpdateMultipleListItems to do the update. Pass a CAML clause so that you only update the list items where the Today value needs to be updated, e.g. once per day.
My advice is to create your on field that does this calculation for you and then reference it in your SharePoint list. Not a simple implementation but it would work.
I have been looking for a solution either, still no luck.. The Today column trick has the limitation of not being dynamic.
I do have one suggestion though, why don't we create a timer job that will update a certain a certain column with the current date every day at 12 AM. I know some of you all might think it an over head. Just my suggestion :D!!
I came up with a very rough, but working solution to this problem without having to do any coding. I'll explain both how i made the today column and how i worked that in to an overdue column, becuase that column was a pain to find out how to do as well.
First, I made a column named "today" (gasp!). Next I made a column named "Days Overdue". I then opened up sharepoint designer and created a new workflow. I set it to run every time an item is edited/updated (keep in mind I turned off versioning for this list, otherwise I would have had to resort to coding to avoid a bunch of useless data building up on our server). I set the actions to simply store the modified date in a workflow variable, then change the value of the today column to that variable. although the modified column is a date/time and my today column is just a date, it transfers just fine. I then set the workflow to pause for 2 hours. you can set this to whatever amount of time you want obviously, it will just change the latest possible time for your today column to update, i.e. 2AM in my case.
on to the days overdue column. this is the code for that guy -

This shows the days overdue in number form in days, or if its not overdue, it shows "None". You can use either a number format or a string format, but NOT A DATE FORMAT. Well, I hope this helps anyone who is running into this problem and doesn't want to have to delve into coding.
EDIT: I forgot to say that in the code above for the days overdue column, I put in that if today is past the date closed, to use the date closed minus the due date instead of today minus due date, to ensure that the calculation doesnt keep occurring after an item has been closed. you probably would have noticed that in the code, but i felt i should point it out just in case.
EDIT 2: The code I had in before my 2nd edit for my calculated column didn't calculate the days overdue properly after an issue had been marked "closed." I put in the updated code. The last part of the code doesn't make sense, as it is the same logic as the beginning, but it worked so I didn't want to take any chances! :)

I've used the following and had no problems.
Field Name: Overdue
Field Type: Calculated
Data Type Returned: Yes/No
Formula:
=AND([Due Date]<NOW(),Status<>"Completed",[Due Date]<>"")
Here is a workaround:
Create a date column called Today.
Use this column in your calculated formula (ignore the fact that the formula returns a wrong value).
After you are done with the formula, delete the Today column from your list.
For some reason it works this way! Now Sharepoint treats the Today in your formula as today's date.
Note: If you decide you want to change the formula, you have to create the Today column again. Otherwise, it wouldn't recognize Today as a valid column.
I Tried #Farzad's approach and it seems to be working perfectly. I wanted to do a custom count on Days Elapsed so added a calculated column which previously I was using a difference between the Created Date and Modified Date Columns, which was only showing up whenever a user updated the post, much to my dismay.
I now have a formula which works as I would want to and uses the Today column, and here it is for anyone who would like to use it. I also have a Status column on the basis of which a base of On Hold is used, and the remaining formula are based on the date difference of Today - Created.

Basically its just a bunch of nested IF conditions which get me labels on the basis of which I can add a group to my view and filter out data if needed. Hope this helps anyone looking for an answer!
