I already searched on the Web and I finded solutions using "entries".
But this solution is not fit when you have (for example) a very big file in folder containing may files.
The progress seams to be stopped while processing of the big file.
I really want the user to see the current processing.
So I thought to another solution.
Display the size of the compress file during the processing.
I know it's possible to use "createReadStream" to follow a file upload.
But how to follow the size of compress file....?

I'm building a project where people can upload files, I would like to then display those files in a browser where people can interact with them (vote, comment etc)
However, this means I need to programatically build the html depending on the format of the video or image. Is there a way to feed a file (or filename) into a library, and determine whether I need to display it in a video element or an image element? Even a list of video formats vs image formats would help but I haven't seen anything in regards to that.
No module can reliably determine the file type. The user could either change the extension or even the magic number of the file to obfuscate it. The only reliable way it to try to pass file to some image / video transcoder to let it decide or error out if the format is invalid. This way you know you are working with known formats since all files are transcoded to your specific extensions. That could be mp4 or png. I recommend using handbrake for videos and sharp for images. Leaving the NPM links down below:

I have written a bit of automated code that checks a SharePoint site and looks for a ZIP file (lets call it doc.zip). If doc.zip is found, it downloads it, and then checks for a file (say target.docx). doc.zip is about 300MB, and so I want to only download where necessary.
What I would like to know is that given SharePoint has some ZIP search capability, is it possible to write code using CSOM (c#) to find doc.zip, and then run some code to retrieve the contents of doc.zip without downloading it.
Just to re-iterate, I am comfortable with searching for files in a folder on SP, downloading the file, and unpacking zip entries. What I need is to retrieve a ZIP files content on SP without downloading it.
E.g. is there a SP command:
cxt.Load(SomeZipFileQuery);
cxt.ExecuteQuery();
Thanks in advance.
This capability is not available. I do like the idea. Having the ability to "parse" zip files on the server side and then download the relevant bits would be ideal. Perhaps raise this on uservoice to see if others also find this us https://sharepoint.uservoice.com
Ok, I have proven yet again that stubbornness will prevail.
I have figured out that if I use the /_api/search?query='myfile.zip' web REST API to search for my file, this search will also match ZIP files that contain the file I need. And it works perfectly.
Of course there is added (pain) of parsing an XML response, but it works very nicely for my code example.
At least if someone is looking for this solution here it is. I wont bore anyone with code, as the /_api/search has probably been done to death already on other threads.
I'm using Liferay Portal 6, The .sprite file is not specified in the source code, however, it's included in the URL with a slash dot, then it's blocked by a security program.
When I delete those file in theme/docroot/images and I deploy the project, they are generated again.
I would like to know how to manage those files or rename them?
You can open those files: It's combined images - look up "CSS Sprite" for a thorough documentation. They're used to limit the number of requests that go back to the server. Without sprites, you'd have every theme image loaded individually. With them you only need the sprite once, resulting in a significant performance boost: You want to have as few http-requests per page as possible, and sprites are one automatically handled way to help you achieving this.
I am working with Yii framework. My goal is to upload an xls file, parse it and load information into data base.
The problem is that the file is too big and it is required to have a progress bar corresponding to the process. I am not a very experienced developer and the task is tricky.
How can i accomplish that?
wierd that nobody advised anything...
I have done the following:
save the uploaded file and find the maximum row
redirect to another page with progress bar
send the starting row and a chunk size from the frontend
load the chunk into database (phpexcel allows to read a chunk from file);
get responce in front end and increase the progress bar.
Not that fast and informative method, but at least i didn't have to get hard with sockets
I need to use PDF in a way similar to ZIP/RAR. To hold many images (ancient tibetan buddist literature), ideally 60000. But splitting in 10-100 volumes is OK.
Anything can be used for packing, but for unpacking we need Node.js. Because same PDF file must be served on web. But some users will need to use whole PDF.
So the question is, what node module I can use to read any single arbitrary image from huge PDF? Example would really help.
Every image is a single page. (Or in otherwords every page is single image)
We have been using https://github.com/mirkokiefer/Node-Magick for this....
But the pngs we get out sometimes are fairly low quality..
