Booting kernel failed : Invalid argument ( Ubuntu installing) - linux

So I tried installing "ubuntu-18.04.4" which is located in Desktop, with VirtualBox 16.1. When I hit the start button it loads a bit that purple page then shows this error (couldn't take a screenshot) :

Booting kernel failed: Invalid argument
I tried disabling windows Secure Boot but the problem remains.
I have Windows10 64bits and reserved 10GB for Ubuntu.Here's a screenshot of other configurations :

WineBottler returning error message every time i try an open .exe file on Mac

I'm trying to open a plugin for SNAP (to process Sentinel-3 imagery) on my Mac - the plugin downloads as an .exe file which means I need to open it using WineBottler. Every time I try and open the file however, I get this error message:

I've tried downloading the 'stable' version of WineBottler, download and redownload it to no avail - it always returns this message. I can't seem to find any way of getting around this or recently posted question (a lot are from 2010-15 and are outdated in their solutions)
Does anyone know what I can do to get around this and open it? It's driving me insane!!!

dmesg: klogctl: Operation not permitted

I see the following error running dmesg in my Linux running on a embedded board (Qualcomm RB5). The Linux is built using Yocto.
/ # dmesg
dmesg: klogctl: Operation not permitted
As you see, I'm running as root. I am also aware of the question here. But when I issue the solution given there I get the following error:
/ # echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/dmesg_restrict
sh: write error: Operation not permitted
Any idea how should I get around with it?

Running Linux 4.9 on Cortex-M4 STM32F4 (29I-DISC1)

I spend a few days trying to understand but I'm stuck.
I get no more than a "Starting kernel..." message after entering 'bootm 8100000' on my STM32F429I-DISC1 board.
Before I update uboot from 2011 to 2016 It was a "Starting Kernel..." + UNHANDED EXCEPTION HARDFAULT, but now I have just the "Starting Kernel..." message.
MCU is a stm32F429, 2MB Flash + ext. 8MB RAM.
Flash start addr is 0x08000000 (uboot addr) and I put my kernel on the start of the 2nd flash bank at 0x08100000.
Start of External 8MB RAM is 0xD0000000
u-boot-2016.11 seems to run pretty well on that board, bdi give me:

With the 'robutest'/'emcraft' kernel/config files I got the same log, unless the Entry Point seems more correct because it's 08100001.
On the robutest/emcraft kernel I tried to activate the LCD screen of the board, but nothing happen.
In all my test I activate kernel config "early printk" and "DEBUG_LL_xxx" stuff.

For those who will have this problem, for me it was the XIP_PHYS_ADDR!
Don't forget the 64 bytes header!!
I was flashing the XIP kernel # 0x08060000 so the XIP_PHYS_ADDR (and the boot entry btw) it's 0x08060040!!!!

I have had faced the same issue but the reason was a different one. The issue was in one of the u-boot structure field that stores the size of the uncompressed linux kernel. The u-boot is not populating this field with the uncompressed size, that the linux kernel uses later to resize its stack, thus putting the system into an undefined state.
Once u-boot prints the Starting kernel... message, the next message should be Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel after u-boot transfers a SMM Handler for the kernel to take-over the execution, and maybe the kernel is looking for this field. If you are working on a x86 based system,the uncompression would be in the following file directories:
arch/x86/boot/uncompressed/head_32.S
arch/x86/boot/uncompressed/piggy.S
The solution is to use the latest u-boot foun in here: https://github.com/andy-shev/u-boot
However, if you are using a custom u-boot, you need to look for this field.

"Invalid module format" error while loading a module in CentOS 6.6

I have 2 twin servers, with same hardware (Infiniband and Nvidia Tesla) and same OS (CentOS6.6, kernel and drivers).
On host1 everything is working fine as usual, while
on host2 I cannot run anymore this service, because I get this error:

Failed to load nv_peer_mem
and dmesg says:
nv_p2p_dummy: exports duplicate symbol nvidia_p2p_free_page_table (owned by nvidia)
Note that host2 has been working fine for 2 months, until a rebooted it after summer holydays. :-(
What can be the cause of this error ? The main software component didn't change (kernel, Nvidia drivers, Mellanox drivers) and hardware is ok. I tried also to repeat the installation procedure, but I get stuck at module loading point:

I found this post about two kernel modules exporting the same symbols, but why on host2 this second module is disturbing nv_peer_mem, while on host1 it does not ?

I dual booted arch linux with window 8.1. After installation, while booting for the first time, this error occurred.

The following steps helped me resolve a similar issue.
add the boot parameter 'nomodeset' to grub at boot. To do this, press e over the Linux option on the grub menu. Then add 'nomodeset' before the 'quiet splash'.
Press Ctrl+X or F10 to continue booting.
This stops the graphics driver from getting loaded prior to booting into Linux.
If this doesn't work, remove the 'quiet splash' so you can inspect the messages at boot.
In my case, one of my drives had errors that needed fsck to fix. Fixing the drive errors let me boot without issues.
