Everyone!
I hope you are doing well.
I have a gif file that will be used for the background of my homepage.
But its resolution is not good so I think it would be better if I use the GIF as SVG.
Is there any way to convert the GIF image to SVG.
Any tools or website link will be helpful for me.
Thanks.

I was using Linux terminal and I wondered why some files have different colors from others
do they only have colors to show the type and permissions given to the file?
It looks like that each color do have a meaning, take a look at this answer: https://askubuntu.com/questions/17299/what-do-the-different-colors-mean-in-ls.

How to place picture on desktop, on top of wallpaper?
This is for Fedora 26, Gnome 3.24.2
I'm not sure about pictures but maybe you can use conky
Conky can be used to do this. See here: how to install.
Although this software has a lot more options to add additions to your desktop, it will do the trick for images too.
Windows equivalent is Rainmeter.
1 minute too short to answering. See above.

My colleague's monitor is not showing (light) gray colors.
I have the same monitor, but don't have this problem.
Example below (middle box should be light gray)
Can someone advise me where to look for this?
PC: Windows 7
Thank you
I had to change the contrast values in the video settings.

If i open a new Inkscape document
and type
TEST
and then try to save it ( as .svg )
the whole page is saved.
what i want is a tiny icon that reads 'TEST'.
with no empty places around it.
sort of like "cropped" edition.
you can
File -> Document Properties or Shift+Ctrl+D
then resize page to content and click resize page to drawing or selection
Now when you save it, it should have the desired dimensions.
Cheers
