This is likely happening due to a conflict between Hyper-V (which uninstalling docker does not deactivate) and Virtualbox. Check to see if Hyper-V is enabled. To do this (assuming you're running docker on windows)
go to control panel's "turn Windows features on or off" options
search for Hyper-V. If it's checked, Hyper-V is still enabled, and is likely the cause of the issue. uncheck it, and restart your computer.
try to launch virtualbox again.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, While installing and studio then creating AVD, This error occurs " Enable VT-x in your BIOS security settings, ensure that your Linux distro has working KVM module.".
Intel virtualization is enabled in BOOT Menu, While installing Intel HAXM manually - "Failed to configure Driver:unknown error. Failed to open Driver"
As directed by this site to check hyper-v is enabled https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/schadinio/2010/07/09/installing-hyper-v-manager-on-windows-7/
and downloaded-> Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7887
And tried to install above software it came with the error
My processor support Virtualization and I have enabled virtualization in the boot menu.
I had the same problem.
I tried all tricks out there, but nothing worked.
The issue only occurred when I installed 7.2.0, so I reverted back to 7.1.0 and it worked again!
Download 7.1.0 and uninstall others and install 7.1.0.

How to set up Virtualbox 1366x768 resolution for a Linux guest?

I have been trying maybe weeks now to figure out how to configure VirtualBox to have 1366x768 resolution on a linux guest, which is on a windows 8.1 host.
My configuration:
Windows 8.1 as host
Linuxmint 17.1 as guest (tried ubuntu and debian too but no luck)
Virtualbox 4.3.26 and its extension pack
Laptop is powerful with 16GB ram and 4GB Nvdia
My problem is that it doesn't matter what I used, nothing worked.
Please do not post the answers on most known websites, I tried them already.
Once your VM is started, you need to run the VBox Linux Guest Additions.
First try to run it from the VirtualBox window's menu:
Devices >> Insert guest Additions CD image...
and follow the instructions.
If that fails, open a terminal and go to the directory where you CD reader is mounted (/run/media/ on Fedora or /media/ on Ubuntu for example).
Then type command sudo ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
Complete instructions can be found on the VirtualBox user manual
Once Guest Additions are installed, reboot your virtual machine. You should be able to resize your screen to your heart's content.
I installed the new VirtualBox 5.0.0_BETA2 and it solved my all problems. Great product is getting ready! Cant wait the latest release. more than a PERFECT software. Now you can remove top bar and/or bottom bar easily. Show what you need.
If you are having problem like me with 1366x768 I recommend you to install latest versin of VB even if it is Beta!

Installing Ubuntu on Oracle VM Virtual Box: Failed to open the optical disk file

I need to install Ubuntu 64-bit on Windows 7 64-bit using Oracle VM Virtual Box.
I downloaded Ubuntu Desktop iso file, opened the settings of VM and selected the disk image of Ubuntu.
After this the following error message appears. How to solve this issue?
UPDATE: I tried both 34-bit and 64-bit Ubunto. Both fail.
Either your ISO is broken or you selected the wrong OS when creating the virtual machine. Try to redownload the file from the Ubuntu home page and mount it again.
You can follow the steps from here. Eventhough its for Ubuntu 14.04, the steps will not change.

Unable to install iis manager on windows 8.1

I get an error while trying to install IIS manager from "Turn on off windows features" on a windows 8 machine. Just before trying to install this I install Visual Studio community online and rebooted my machine. Visual Studio works fine.
I also made sure all updates are installed on my machine and also rebooted and tried installing IIS manager.
The error that I get is "The function attempted to use a name that is reserved for use by another transaction"
Thanks
Ranjith
Try to turn off your antivirus before install IIS.
I had the same problem and spent hours trying to find out the root cause. Tried to disable anti virus and other options as discussed in forums on the internet.
Here is how i resolved the problem.
Open up msconfig -> go to boot tab -> select Safe boot (Minimal) -> Apply -> Okay
Your machine should restart in safe mode and you should be able to successfully install IIS from the "Turn Windows Feature On/Off" section as described by others.
After the installation is complete, run msconfig again to unselected Safe boot so that you log in to the normal desktop environment on restart. Enjoy!
Just now i also faced that problem and this is how fixed the problem.
The reason can be another server which running on your pc, is using the same port as IIS. (e.g: 80 or 8080).
According to my solution, I started the wampserver. then click on wamp icon on the task bar. then opened the httpd.conf file from Apache.
find (ctrl+F) the "Listen 80" and replace it to "Listen 8080" or any other. save it.
restart your pc and try to install the IIS manager again.
hope it will works!! Good luck.

auto reboot SLES11 SP1 as a VM

I have a SLES11 SP1 (64bit) Linux installed as a VM with VMWare Player. I was trying to configure this Linux host for auto reboot after panic. For that, I added "kernel.panic=10" to /etc/sysctl.conf. After reboot, when the host panic'ed, it did not reboot automatically. Does anybody has an idea ?
I tried installing SLES11 SP1 (64bit) on ESXi server as well, but same result. I could not get it to autoreboot after panic.
I tried same settings with another distro (ubuntu 64bit), but these settings worked in that case.
If there is some other setting I need to do, please do let me know.
Thanks
For ESXi installation, you can trigger automatic reboot of guest virtual machine as follows:
Goto Configuration section -> Virtual machine startup/shutdown, and there you can add the virtual machine for automatic startup by clicking on 'Properties' button, so that it reboots automatically. You can also define 'Startup delay' and 'Shutdown delay' for both 'Automatic startup' and 'Manual startup'.
