I'm looking for an input tool (like a wireless pen) that can be used to measure images from a surface that will then auto input the data into an excel spreadsheet. Anyone familiar with type of hardware? I've been doing some searching around but haven't had a lot of luck finding something that can do that.
I'd also be interested in software that could take an image allow me to use my mouse to draw a box around that image and input the measurements into an excel spreadsheet as well.
Just curious if anyone has come across anything like either of these options.

I'm not familiar with a good answer to your main question but for the second part; you can use Acrobat Reader DC's "Measure" tools to set a scale and get sizing and volume measurements from a PDF file. We use that all the time for building estimates. Best of luck

In principle, it is not possible to be sure the data hasn't been edited, although it may take a great deal of skill to do so indetectably. Some of the major camera makers (Canon and Nikon, possibly others) offer an "image authentication" feature in their pro model cameras which is designed to make it impossible to modify the image after it has been taken. They do this for the benefit of people doing legal work - evidence shots and the like. To use this, you have to switch it on (via the camera settings) before you take the picture. Even with these though, it is still possible to alter the data: both the Canon and Nikon authentication systems have been cracked (presumably with considerable difficulty).
As for normal pictures, yes, these are very easy to alter. However many (most?) programs which can edit EXIF data leave their own signs. For example, Adobe Photoshop always adds its own name somewhere in the EXIF, apparently whether you want it to or not. You can see this with many different EXIF viewers, especially with the more advanced ones like PhotoME. (Which, sadly, is no longer maintained.)
Short answer: yes, it is always possible to exit EXIF, and almost always possible to do it indetectably, but it may requite the right tools and quite a lot of skill. You can't ever be certain it has not been done.

Praat is good for these kinds of things. It has been specifically designed for speech research, but it can (and has) been used for analysing music as well.
It has a scripting language that allows for automation, and can analyse the things you mention for specific intervals or for the whole sound. Take a look at the documentation, specifically the sections on Pitch, Intensity, and spectral analysis.
Sigview is super easy to use and is your best bet if you want to be the most scientific about it (without investing too much $$ or time).
To use SigView, drag & drop an audio file into sigview. Highlight the portion of the waveform you're interested in and right click, select the option 'open selection in new window'. When you're looking at the portion of the waveform you're interested in, hit ctrl-f and it will perform an FFT on the segment. Right click and select show peaks so see the amplitude & frequency of each peak.
I have a file which contains a bunch of points with their x,y, z locations.I am looking for a simple viewer where in I can load this point data and view it .Rotation is essential for me to check the depth of the cloud being generated .Can someone point out a light weight viewer with minimum installation overhead for this?
I have used MeshLab and it worked well for me. IIRC it uses your average Windows installer.
You could also try CyArk viewer (a Java applet), or Leica Cyclone -- I haven't used either one.
Of course if your data format is not a standard one, they may not be able to read it.
R+ is an open source statistical program that I have used for this exact purpose. It can be accomplished in only a few lines of code.
First add the rgl and plotrix libraries.
Enter the following code:

Where pcd is the type of file (if I remember correctly), the first ten lines are skipped as they are a header (skip=10) and sep"" represents the delimiter used in the file. This last line of code plots the points and sets the color based upon depth.
I vote for Paraview. I am shocked that no one mentioned it before I did.
No matter which OS you use, Windows, Mac OS or Linux you can use it without any (big) problems. (You know software always has bugs)
Meshlab is good too. In fact you can convert file format easily to make sure they can be used in different software, if you can learn Python.
I do believe someones has already done it. Eg. .off (Meshlab format) to .vtk(Paraview format), like this one.

Most visualization softwares are user-friendly, so maybe the problem you have is mainly about how to convert the source data you have to the specified format which can be used in these viewers. It may be helpful if there is an example of data you have.
matlab is a quite good tool to visualize your pcl, expecially for further analysis.
My realtime app generates a data log: 100 words of data #10Khz. I need to analyze it and produce some plots of the results. There are intermediate calculations involved - I need to take some differences, averages, etc. Excel would work fine, except for:
the 32000 item limit on graph data series is too small - that's only 3 seconds of data.
the glacial speed at which it processes changes to graphs containing large data series is unbearable.
What are good alternatives to Excel for manipulating and plotting large quantities of data? I'm looking for something interactive, not a library.
For this sort of stuff we typically roll our own, but I know that isn't the solution you want. Can you use a good quality database (eg Oracle) to do the manipulation, then maybe put the summarized data back into Excel for the plotting? I believe Excel will link to databases these days, so you could make it quite automated.
Otherwise there are statistical tools like [SAS][1], but get your cheque book out first.

There are also several free tools for analysing and plotting (see below). But I am not sure whether they have components to handle data in real-time.
R (similar to SAS) for statistical computations
octave (similar to Matlab) for mathematical computations
R (for data manipulation) and its ggplot2 module for creating sexy graphs. Incredibly useful.
If you need real-time graphics, then I'd look at building something using matplotlib. It's a Python module, and you can link it to R using rpy2 if required.
In particle and nuclear physics the big tool is ROOT, which I have seen used in a "update every two seconds as the data comes in" mode with a lot of data and a modest amount of intermediate processing.
Mind you, the student who wrote that module was a very slick programmer, and it took a while to shake the bugs out, even so.
ROOT is available for free, and provides all kinds of tools and support.
Like any responsible developer, I'd like to make sure that the sites I produce are accessible to the widest possible audience, and that includes the significant fraction of the population with some form of colour blindness.
There are many websites which offer to filter a URL you feed it, either by rendering a picture or by filtering all content. However, both approaches seem to fail when rendering even moderately complex layouts, so I'd be interested in finding a client-side approach.
The ideal solution would be a system filter over the whole screen that can be used to test any program. The next best thing would be a browser plugin.
I came across Color Oracle and thought it might help. Here is the short description:
Color Oracle is a colorblindness simulator for Windows, Mac and Linux. It takes the guesswork out of designing for color blindness by showing you in real time what people with common color vision impairments will see.
Color Oracle is great, but another option is KMag, which is part of KDE in Linux. It's ostensibly a screen magnifier, but can simulate protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia and achromatopsia.
It differs from Color Oracle by requiring an additional window in which to display the re-coloured image, but an advantage is that one can modify the underlying image at the same time as previewing the simulation.

They let you check URL's and Screenshots with three kinds of different color blindness types (URL checking is a bit dated though. Image-check works better).
I'd encourage everyone to check their applications btw. Seeing your own app with others eyes may be an eye opener (pun intended).
I know this is a quite old question, but I've recently found an interesting solution to transparently simulate color blindness.
When working with Linux, you can simulate color blindness using the Color Filter plugin for Compiz. It comes with profiles for deuteranopia and protonopia und changes the colors of the whole screen in real-time.
It's very nice because it works transparently in all applications (even within Youtube-Videos), but it will only work where Compiz is available, e.g. only under Linux.

I haven't implemented the filter, but I plan to when I have some more free time.
I found Colour Simulations easy to use on Windows 10. This software can apply a color-blind filter to a part of the screen or the whole screen. And what's great is it allows me to interact with my PC normally as if it doesn't exist in fullscreen mode. It runs quite slow in my 4K screen using an integrated graphics card, though.
