I have a SharePoint Template that was created by a different developer I don't have the VS Solution for it. I downloaded it as .wsp file but I couldn't view it which made me change it to .cab I received the "can't open file" error. To solve it I used Easy 7-zip to extract it and the error was "can't open the file as [Cab] archive Is not archive.I also tried Start -> Run. then: msconfig.exe I couldn't "Expand File..." at tab General. I just want to read everything in the Template before even editing it, I know that would be a bigger issue. Any help or ideas are appreciated thank you.

I have created an Excel file from delimted text file using awk in linux terminal transferring the same to windows. when opened it shows a pop-up "This file might be corrupted or unsafe.would you like to open?"But on tapping yes I could see data everything is fine as expected. How to avoid such pop-up.
I have tried to convert to .xlsx then I couldn't even see the data
I tried to zip and send then unzip same warning popsup
My guess as to what is going on is that the incoming Excel file is still basically a Linux file, but MS Office, being flexible, is allowing you to open it. For a one time fix, try the following steps from Windows Excel:
Open the Linux Excel file (some_file.xlsx)
Save as another file name (some_new_file.xlsx)
Close Excel
Delete some_file.xlsx and rename some_new_file.xlsx to some_file.xlsx
Now try opening the file again, and hopefully the error message will have gone away.
I have one excel sheet but it's not opening, it showing one error message that the file extension is corrupt.
Please kindly go through the screen shots and suggest me some solution
This indeed means the file is corrupted. You still have some hope to open the file. If you have LibreOffice installed, this has worked for me in the past (then just export it as a doc and try opening it again). If you don't have it, you can also try uploading it to google documents and seeing if you can rescue the file that way.
Your file must be corrupt. It happens when not downloaded completely or uncomplete transfer of data.
I am trying to edit an .sx file associated with this addon for microsoft test manager: Test Scribe
But if I make any change to the file in any editor test manager crashes. This should work since other people have said this is how they fixed the plugin not handling certain characters.
When I open the file in notepad++ it looks almost like an archive or something. Any ideas?
Figured it out, turns out it is using zip so you can open it and edit the files inside.
We have a main .xls file that references several .xla files in the same folder. Most of the time, all the references open fine, but sometimes, seemingly at random, some users will starting getting Can't find Project or Library..
When looking at what is missing, it will be one of the .xla files; however, the path to the file it is looking for is exactly correct and the same files will work fine for others. We've found that if we rename the folder containing all the files, the problem generally goes away.
Due to users having shortcuts to the folder, we can't generally rename the folder though. The only way around it we have found is to create another .xls file that opens all the .xla files in the right order and then opens the main .xls file last. That works but it is confusing to users as to which version of the .xls file they should use.
Anyone have any ideas what causes Excel to think something is missing when it is exactly where the reference is pointing or how to fix it (other than renaming the folder)?
You will have to open the file before you can access the code in that.
I have an Excel file in OfficeML format, MyData.xls. Since I upgraded to Office 2007 from Office 2003 I get a warning message saying that the file content does not match the file extension. It seems that OfficeML now must have the extension 'xml'.
In my application I use OleClientSite to display the file in an OleFrame object. If I change the file extension to 'xml' then Excel is not started. If I leave the extension as 'xsl' then I get the above warning message.
How can I force the file with the 'xml' extension to be opened in the OleFrame using Excel?
The easiest solution is to switch back to the 2003 format, which should not require any changes to your application. To do this, open your file with the extension set to *.xls. When prompted with the warning ("... do you want to open the file now?"), proceed to open (this is a warning to make sure you don't unintentionally open a macro-enabled file). Once in Excel and the file is open, simply save it as *.xls. This can be done by going to "Office Button / Save As / Excel 97-2003 Workbook".
Now, the harder solution will be upgrading your application to deal with the new OfficeML format. I don't know about the component you're using, but it will likely still work for some of the binary parts in the new standard (most notably VBA projects), but you're going to have to unpack and start reading XML files.
If you haven't already done this, create a new Excel workbook, save it as *.xlsx (the 2007 format) and in Explorer, change its extension to *.zip. Open it up and take a look around. For more in-depth on the files, I would start digesting this MSDN article.
Maybe I'm missing something, but shouldn't you just use .xslx as your extension? I'm assuming that by OfficeML, you're refering to Office Open XML.
The <?mso-application progid="Excel.Sheet"?> should be present in the XSL template used.
The below link explains clearly how to include the processing instruction. I had to do something similar and it worked for me.
