I'm trying to start/stop my Linux VM on Azure but I can neither start nor stop my VM. It stucks at "Starting virtual machine..." when starting and "Stopping virtual machine..." when stopping then throws an error and says "Failed". In my overview screen of my VM, IP address of the VM won't go away so it looks like VM is not stopping at all. How can I fix this?
We are currently experiencing an outage in South Central US

You will want to monitor the Azure Status Page for further updates. Unfortunately we cannot do anything until the problem has been mitigated by engineering.
As a side note, we have multiple backups of all customer data so no data loss should occur. Once the issue has mitigated all Virtual Machines and data should be restored and fully functional. After the issue has been mitigated and if you are still seeing issues let us know.

We have a bunch of "Virtual Machine (Classic)" instances, that we want to start migrating to ARM.
However, it is not possible to perform any operation on them from the Azure Portal. All features in the management portal returns "Error code 500", and this happens for all the VMs we have. Anyone have any clue how to fix this?
Tried to access VM Management in Azure Portal. Expected to access the management features. Error code returned for all VMs

When trying to create a VM in Azure, I cannot create the VM in Europe (screenshot below).
Can someone kindly advise why is that the case and what action I can take?
You should contact Azure Support. Sometimes some datacenters become unavailable for some subscriptions.
Azure trial accounts can be limited to some regions, the western europe datacenter is quite full, mobile apps wasnt available in western europe for the same reason.

I am trying to create two VMs, one WS2012 and second Win8.1. I want them to be able to connect to each other through cloud only virtual network.
When I am creating VMs I dont see my virtual network. All their locations(south central US) are same.
This is what I used to create VNet - article.
Pretty much keeping everything default except for location.
UPDATE:
Turns out it was an issues of subscriptions getting mixed up. I am co-admin on other two subscriptions, and seems like my network and VM were created in different subscriptions hence I could not see my network in the drop down when I was creating the VM.
Probably because you are creating the VMs using the quick create button instead of using From Gallery.
Navigate New >> Compute >> Virtual Machine >> From Gallery.
Follow the wizard and select your Virtual Network. Deploy both VMs on the same Vnet and you should have direct connectivity.

Just been reading about this potentially serious Linux based bug. It would seem that Azure should be on the safe side, as being Windows based, and most likely quickly patched, as that is why we use Platform As A Service (PAAS).
For anybody wondering what this is all about Try Hunt has a good article at: Troy Hunt's Article
Any comments from anyone on this, or pointers?
Thanks.
Azure WebSites is safe with respect to ShellShock. Azure WebSites uses IIS as our web server and we do not expose any external anonymously-accessible endpoint which exposes/calls Bash.
Note that we do install Bash as part of our VM installation (it comes with Git). But we do not expose any vector for calling into this shell remote/anonymously. We will be updating Bash for caution-sake.

Remote desktop is stuck on "securing remote connection". I am connecting to Windows 2008 VM on Azure from Windows 7. I have successfully connected for a few days before now. I have waited for over 15 minutes. I don't have local access to the server.
Please verify that your Windows Azure VM is in Running state from Portal first and then try to RDP. Based on your error and experience, it is possible that your VM is not running or have some issue. Try restarting the VM from Management Preview Portal or using PowerShell and then try RDP and it should work.
