I was using the SELECT method in a function. I tried to Select all the rows where "First_Name," a column, is equal to "FirstName," a variable. However, it gives me an error saying that "FirstName" is not a column. I have no idea how to fix this issue. I have copy-pasted the SELECT statement below.
c.execute('SELECT * FROM AccountLists WHERE First_Name = FirstName AND Last_Name = LastName')
You need use ? notation, like this:
c.execute('SELECT * FROM AccountLists WHERE First_Name=? AND Last_Name=?', (FirstName, LastName))
The ? is a placeholder that you use wherever you want to use a value and then provide a tuple of values as the second argument to the cursor’s execute() method.

I have a list which is in below format
A = [ "machine's code" ,"max's code"]
I want to convert to that list to string and pass it to a query. I am using python for this.
I am trying with below query and not giving required results
for i in A:query=Select * from table where name='"+str(A)+"'"
Expected code should be :
Select * from table where name="machine's code"
list_of_queries = []
for element in A:
query = f'Select * from table where name="{el}"'
list_of_queries.append(query)
as pointed out by others here, this pattern should be only used internally, as it creates some sql injection security risks.
I'm trying to parse information in to a SELECT statement using the two column names 'id' and 'easy_high_score' so I can manipulate values of them two columns in my program, but when trying to get the value of the column 'easy_high_score', which should be an integer like 46 or 20, it instead returns a string of ('easy_high_score',).
Even though there is no mention of [('easy_high_score',)] in the table, it still prints this out. In the table, id 1 has the proper values and information i'm trying get but to no avail. I am fairly new to SQLite3.
if mode == "Easy":
mode = 'easy_high_score'
if mode == "Normal":
mode = "normal_high_score"
if mode == 'Hard':
mode == "hard_high_score"
incrementor = 1 ##This is used in a for loop but not necessary for this post
c.execute("SELECT ? FROM players WHERE id=?", (mode, incrementor))
allPlayers = c.fetchall()
print(allPlayers) #This is printing [('easy_high_score',)], when it should be printing an integer.
Expected Result: 20 (or an integer which represents the high score for easy mode)
Actual Result: [('easy_high_score',)]
Column name cannot be specified using a parameter it should be present verbatim in the query. Modify the line that executes the query like this:
c.execute("SELECT %s FROM players WHERE id=?" % mode, (incrementor,))
A possible cause of this is double quotes vs single quotes.
'SELECT "COLUMN_NAME" FROM TABLE_NAME' # will give values as desired
"SELECT 'COLUMN_NAME' FROM TABLE_NAME" # will give column name like what you got
I am trying to do something like
SELECT *
FROM bucket bck
WHERE bck.type = 'Beer'
and ARRAY_LENGTH(bck.path.to.array) > 1
Unfortunately, this select returns nothing.
The predicate might be evaluated to false. Check by running this and see what values it returns
SELECT ARRAY_LENGTH(bck.path.to.array) FROM \bucket bck WHERE bck.type = 'Beer';
I have a field named field, and I would like to see if it is null, but I get an error in the query, my code is this:
let
Condition= Excel.CurrentWorkbook(){[Name="test_table"]}[Content],
field= Condition{0}[fieldColumn],
query1="select * from students",
if field <> null then query1=query1 & " where id = '"& field &"',
exec= Oracle.Database("TESTING",[Query=query1])
in
exec
but I get an error in the condition, do you identify the mistake?
I got Expression.SyntaxError: Token Identifier expected.
You need to assign the if line to a variable. Each M line needs to start with an assignment:
let
Condition= Excel.CurrentWorkbook(){[Name="test_table"]}[Content],
field= Condition{0}[fieldColumn],
query1="select * from students",
query2 = if field <> null then query1 & " some stuff" else " some other stuff",
exec= Oracle.Database("TESTING",[Query=query2])
in
exec
In query2 you can build the select statement. I simplified it, because you also have conflicts with the double quotes.
I think you're looking for:
if Not IsNull(field) then ....
Some data types you may have to check using IsEmpty() or 'field is Not Nothing' too. Depending on the datatype and what you are using.
To troubleshoot, it's best to try to set a breakpoint and locate where the error is happening and watch the variable to prevent against that specific value.
To meet this requirement, I would build a fresh Query using the PQ UI to select the students table/view from Oracle, and then use the UI to Filter the [id] column on any value.
Then in the advanced editor I would edit the generated FilteredRows line using code from your Condition + field steps, e.g.
FilteredRows = Table.SelectRows(TESTING_students, each [id] = Excel.CurrentWorkbook(){[Name="test_table"]}{0}[fieldColumn])
This is a minor change from a generated script, rather than trying to write the whole thing from scratch.
i have table in DB = dle_post and a row contains id,full_story i want to check if full_story starts with "1." then list its id but the big problem is there are some spaces in the start of full_story some time 1 some time 2 and some time 3 , how can i list all ids starting with "1."
You want to execute some SQL like this, which you can also do in PHPmyAdmin...
SELECT id FROM dle_post WHERE LTRIM(full_story) LIKE '1%';
I think this will work!
Would this query help:
$id = fetch id here;
mysql_query("SELECT * FROM YOUR_TABLE WHERE id LIKE '%".$id."`%'", $someconnection);
YOUR_TABLE -> replace it with your table nime
