I'm scraping http://www.nowgoal.com
In the main page,if you scroll down, there is a row named results, and below that all matches of the day already finished. If you hover your mouse over the score, a detail table appears.
This is the html for when you hover
Hovered table
And this, for when it is not hovered
Unhovered table
Well, let's say I get a list of all the nodes, and that I try with the first one
node=nodes[0]
If I do
score=node.find_element_by_css('.red')
I get the score element on which you need to hover. Then I try
ActionChains(browser).move_to_element(score).perform()
TabScore=browser.find_element_by_id('winScore')
print(TabScore.get_attribute('outerHTML'))
And I get
>> <div id="winScore" style="position:absolute; z-index:8;top:100px;left:100px;visibility:hidden;" onmouseover="MM_showHideLayers('winScore','','show')" onmouseout="hiddendetail()"></div>
Which is the node for when it is unhovered, so there must be a problem with the ActionChains. Weird thing is if I recall right, I made it work this way a while ago, so the only two possible explanations are that either something is wrong with ActionChains, or that I changed laptops and this windows works different from the old one (10 versus I think it was Vista).

I am using bootstrap forms. In a form group I have some check boxes. When I hover my mouse over the first one, it highlights the first one as expected. When I hover over the second one, it highlights the second one and the first one. When I hover over the third one, it highlights the third one and the first one. And so on... I'm wondering if this is a known bug with bootstrap? I'm using nodeJS with pug on express server. Her is my code:
.form-group.centerCheckboxes
label Local Center Statistics
.form-check
label.form-check-label
input#tutorRequestFrequency.form-check-input(type='checkbox' value='tutorRequestFrequency')
| Tutor request frequency
.form-check
label.form-check-label
input#totalWorkingHours.form-check-input(type='checkbox' value='totalWorkingHours')
| Total working hours
.form-check
label.form-check-label
input#totalHoursTutored.form-check-input(type='checkbox' value='totalHoursTutored')
| Total hours tutored
.form-check
label.form-check-label
input#totalWeightPulled.form-check-input(type='checkbox' value='totalWeightPulled')
| Tutors "weight pulled" ratios
perhaps I am using bootstrap classes wrong? This is all within a grid system but I've triple checked the grid to make sure all the numbers rows and columns were used properly. Has anybody ever heard of this problem or know why it is happening?
I found the issue. It's because I was using the label tag incorrectly. when I hovered over anything within the .form-group it was also hovering over the label which was automatically being applied to the first checkbox in the list.
To solve this, instead of using label I instead used div then put the text that was originally inside the label inside the div.
I was wondering if there is any way to accelerate/speed up the UItableView/[reload data].
Even though I reload the data on the main thread using:
> [self.tableview performSelectorOnMainThread:#selector(reloadData) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:No]
I still think the results is quite slow (2 to 3 seconds to refresh each time the table is being reloaded, making a bad user experience if the user keep refreshing the table).
For a bit of background here is how it works at the moment.
1) I create my UITableView from data coming from the database on apple starting (until here no problem and I am fine if its taking few seconds).
2) I click on one of the item of the table view, which opens a new screen to modify the elements.
3) Once the elements is modified, I change the database of my table view so that the elements I changed comes at the top of my table view.
4) When I press the back button on the screen to change my elements, I implements the ViewWillAppear of my UITableView and I reload the data on the main thread.
5) What I observer is a latency of about 2/3 seconds to go from one screen to another. Removing the reload data line from my code, make the transition instantaneous. So the problem is really in the reload data.
Each row of my UITableView has the following elements inside:
A background color coming from a file (this is basically a gradient, the file is about 20Ko, it is a PNG, the file is store on the phone)
1 or 2 UIImageView (depending on the status of what I display) (about 5Ko each, very small PNG icons, the file is store on the phone)
3 UILabel
1 UIButton (inside this PNG, there is a picture, the original size of the picture may vary from 200 to 300ko, the original source is coming from internet. I use SDWebImage to load it/cache it)
I would think I may have too much information on each of my cell, as I can see a big difference in loading time when I only have one row, versus having 10rows.
Would like to have some input from the community to see if anything can be done to improve. The best would be to be able to update the UI in the background, so for example, when I am modifying my elements, I do reloaddata in the background, so that when I come back to the previous screen that shows the UITableView my view is already refreshed,
Thanks
Ok I foudn the solution on this website:

20) Optimize Your Table Views
Table views need to scroll quickly — when they don’t, users really notice the lag.
To keep your table views scrolling smoothly, ensure that you’ve implemented all of the suggestions below:
Reuse cells by setting the correct reuseIdentifier.
Make as many views opaque as possible, including the cell itself.
Avoid gradients, image scaling, and offscreen drawing.
Cache the height of any rows if they aren’t always the same.
If the cell shows content that comes from the web, be sure to make those calls asynchronously and cache the responses. (Personnal note on this one as it was my issue: look at this other website http://keighl.com/post/sdwebimage-uitableviewcell/ that explains how to use SDWebImage in a UITableView. Very useful.
Use shadowPath to set up shadows.
Reduce the number of subviews.
Do as little work as possible in cellForRowAtIndexPath:. If you need to do some work, do it only once and cache the results.
Use the appropriate data structure to hold the information you need. Different structures have different costs for different operations.
Use rowHeight, sectionFooterHeight and sectionHeaderHeight to set constant heights instead of asking the delegate.
You say "A background color coming from a file" - this alerts me that you're doing IO work, which is generally time-consuming, I'm curious if you remmed out the loading a colour from a file if you get a significant speed increase?
I've spent some time simplifying the code to get a simple example of the problem. I'm using Dojo 1.6.1. I've a TabContainer defined on my page. Dinamically, I add to it two tabs, each one of them contains an EnhancedGrid with a rowMenu(right click). The issue is that the menu does not work correctly on IE8 if the TabContainer is defined to use all the space available on the page. If I use a specific height and width, it works fine. By not working correctly I mean the following: The menu is pretty simple; it has just two MenuItem, one of them is a PopupMenu that shows a submenu, as follows:
If the TabContainer takes all the available width and height, the menu does something very strange. First, if you do a right click over a row, it does not do anything. You need to a second right click. Then the menu shows, but when you open the submenu, the main menu disapears, and the submenu does not work. It keeps floating around until you navigate to other page:
When it fails, it throws a javascript error saying "'undefined' is null or not an object", on the line 208 of dojox/grid/_FocusManager.js
[...]
_scrollHeader: function(currentIdx){
var info = null;
if(this._colHeadNode){
var cell = this.grid.getCell(currentIdx);
info = this._scrollInfo(cell, cell.getNode(0));
}
[...]
I've tried to create a jsfiddle sample, but Dojo 1.6.1 is not available there, and with Dojo .1.6.0 the behaviour is diferent (You need to do a left click on the row and then a right click, and then the menu works fine), so I've created a simple HTML sample you can see on http://pastebin.com/jDNFQxrP. To see the difference you just need to change the commented TabContainer at the bottom of the code. Has someone seen this before?
Thanks

I want to use the Watir to click a link that looks like a button attached the image.
I use the following method,but doesn't works:
#browser.div(:id,"NetworkAnalysisTabPanel").div(:index,1).div(:index,1).ul(:index,1).li(:index,1).link(:index,2).click
Note:
#browser.div(:id,"NetworkAnalysisTabPanel").div(:index,1).div(:index,1).ul(:index,1).li(:index,1).link(:index,2).flash
is working fine but click is not working in IE and FF
Link looks like this:
And HMTL like this:
Note: I am able to click on the element using selenium IDE with clickAt method
Try this (not tested):
browser.link(:class => "x-tab-strip-menu").click
If you can flash the link, but click does not do what you want, see this: How to find out which JavaScript events fired?
FYI what you have are links that are using standard background images controlled via CSS magic that keys on the class of the link to know what background to set. That's where the image comes from, and why you don't see it as part of the link in the HTML.
In that control, each tab is a list item element (li) in an unordered list (ul), and each list item has an ID, so that's the easiest way to tell it which tab you are trying to click inside.
Try identifying things starting with the LI that is the tab container, as within that container there is only one instance of each link of a given class. Of the 4 links, only one is without any kind of easy identifier, and if you need to click that one you'd need to use :index, but for the other 3 links using :class ought to work. This should result in code that is less brittle and subject to being broken if the order of tabs changes, or the page is refactored.
#browser.li(:id,"NetworkAnalysisTabPanel__ext-comp-1038").link(:class, "x-tab-strip-menu").click
If the number at the end of the ID is subject to change, you can try a regular expression to match the part you can predict and is unique from the others
#browser.li(:id,/NetworkAnalysisTabPanel__ext-comp-/).link(:class, "x-tab-strip-menu").click
If you can reliably identify the object and use .flash but .click does not seem to do anything, you may have to use .fire_event('onclick') instead or .click.
#browser.li(:id,/NetworkAnalysisTabPanel__ext-comp-/).link(:class, "x-tab-strip-menu").fire_event('onclick')
If that does not work, then you need to start experimenting with likely events that the control might be looking for (which will not necessarily show up in the HTML btw.. it may be in javascript or CSS etc)
UPDATE
This is where having an live example of the control that we can interact with is critical. doing some googling on the class names I was able to find one here and that let me play with it a little, and what I discovered is that it is looking for onmousedown. so, on that site, this works
browser.li(:id, 'TabPanel1__ctl07').link(:class, 'x-tab-strip-menu').fire_event('onmousedown')
Now since those ID's may not be the best identifier, a bit more digging (using .text on the li that holds the tab parts) found me some text, which in a menu like that ought to be unique.. SO, we can change this to make things a bit more robust and clearer as to what tab I'm clicking on (this will also be less subject to breaking if the tabs change around.
browser.li(:text, 'Menu 1').link(:class, 'x-tab-strip-menu').fire_event('onmousedown')
Lastly, since the click is causing client side code to execute, you may need a brief pause (a one or two second sleep) to wait for that portion of the page to re-render etc.
I am trying to work with mouseover on a particular Item in my application by using the following command
{
ie.text_field(:xpath, "//a[contains(text(),'Deal')]").fire_event('onmouseover')
}
On doing mouseover on a item, two subitems are displayed.
Is there any way to capture the sub items which are part of the Item by doing mouseover with which we can report that our test is pass or fail.
Please suggest.
Additional Information :
If we take example,On the StackOver flow page, If i do mouseover on my name, i get a window where i see activity, privileges, Logout and other stuff. This is really what i was looking for. Is there a way to capture the items displayed on the window on doing mouseover.
I also tried to capture the subitems with the following :
{
text=ie.text_field(:xpath, "//a[contains(text(),'Deal')]").fire_event('onmouseover')
puts(text.inspect)
}
On doing this "text" value is displayed as 'nil'.
My general tactic for such things is a combination of using IRB and the IE Developer tool, or Firebug.
using IRB, type out (or cut and paste) the watir statement to fire the onmouseover command to the proper element on the page.
Then have the developer tool rescan the DOM (there's a little refresh icon you can click) The use the tool to point to an element to point to one of the items in the stuff exposed by the onmouseover. Using the info from that, you can then figure out how to address those elements to get the text from the proper div, etc.
If I do that here to the info that opens up when I float the mouse over my name I can find out that it is a table of class "profile-recent-summary" Furthermore I can then look at the way the table is made up and see for example that the 'today' reputation value is in the second cell on that row.. The row also has the text 'reputation' in it.. so
browser.table(:class, 'profile-recent-summary').row(:text, /reputation/).cell(:index, 2).flash
Should flash the cell I want (index might be 1 if using firewatir or webdriver) I can then replace the .flash with something else like .text if I want to get the text from that cell (which is actually inside a link that sits in the cell)..
without seeing your code, I would 'inspect' the element that you are trying to verify and when_present (text) assert that its true
