Removing uneeded dictionary variables when using the Start 2010 workflow Action - sharepoint

I have a 2013 workflow that starts a number of 2010 workflows. I am converting these over to the new HTTP calls, but I'm running into a problem. It seems when you use the "Start 2010 Workflow" it creates a dictionary variable for that action. I need to know if there is a way to delete those unneeded dictionary variables. They are not in the local variable list so I cannot delete that way. I need to delete them as they are pushing my variable count over 50 and I cannot publish the workflow.

So Microsoft in its great wisdom decided that they were not going to give the user a way to delete the variables that are created when you use the "Start 2010 Workflow". I have to say, they are geniuses at Microsoft to not give the user a way to delete variables that are no longer needed. Here is a round about way of doing though if you need to do it. Scroll down and the answer will be there. https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/Lync/en-US/e9d7b2ba-593d-4524-93ee-a76a579fc6ff/deleting-coordination-action-output-variables-in-spd-2013?forum=sharepointcustomization

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 best solution to change entity's field data type

I'm having an issue on changing data type of a field in Dynamics CRM 2011 On Premise deployment.
In my managed solution, name it "Solution 1", I have a custom field in contact entity: "new_usernumber" of type number (int). I want to change it to string as per new client's requirement (for new users they want to add prefix to it).
I can uninstall the solution and deploy the new "fixed" managed solution, but this requires me to delete the value on my custom fields. Is there any better solution for this?
TIA
There is no easy way to do this. If you don't already have data deployed in the instance using the managed solution I recommend deleting it and importing a corrected managed solution file.
There is no supported or unsupported process of changing the data type(or logical name) of a field without data loss. What you will need to do is add the new field and then write a quick update utility to copy the data from the old field to the new field.
Here is a great article on exactly how to pull off deleting a field in a managed solution. Note, if you are trying to preserve data you'll need to run the update after the step "Import devkeydetDeleteExample_1_1_HOLDING.zip"
Have fun...this is a pain, but certainly doable!
A few months ago I recreated fields in a solution (from double to int). That was a huge mistake. I'm still not sure where things went wrong but they did go wrong. Not only did I lose the date. I managed to introduce errors in the meta-layer so our MVP had to sit dear help me get it running again. He wasn't happy. I wasn't happy. The customer wasn't happy (ex-customer today, mostly because of that).
So, my humble advice - don't do that. Declare a new field instead. If you have usernumber, keep it but start using userNumberString (or userString, userName etc.). My guess is you'll keep your hair longer that way.
And if you manage to succeed, please do tell. :)

How to remove a file from Sharepoint with SQL

YES i know, that you'll never want to use SQL for changing data in Sharepoint.
I have a lot of files in my Sharepoint record center.
I have one corrupted file that i can't delete.
I tried to delete with a solution, with powershell etc, so my last option is delete is from the database.
It's a test envirioment where i want it to use.
SQL is my last chance.......
Have you tried the SPContentDatabase.Repair method?
You haven't stated what you attempted to do in your solution, Powershell script etc. You might get other suggestions that might be less of a threat to your environment.
All your items live in "AllUserData" table. It is, by the way, documented in MSDN: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd358229(v=prot.13).aspx (surprise for me)
However, you will need the site id and list id of your item.

Sharepoint form with linked lists

I am new to Sharepoint and I want to make sure I am on the right path.
I am in a highly restricted environment and would rather do this in Visual Studio but am currently in the position where I have to try to get this to work using just the web interface and Sharepoint Designer.
I have created multiple lists that I plan on using in a relational way. I have designed this to mimic a relational database.
I have been able to link these lists for multiple item views and single item views, but need to be able to create items and modify items and so I need to be able to also link these lists and use them in a form.
Is this even possible?
If not, how do I handle updating these items?
Lastly.....
Am I going about this all the wrong way?
Thanks!
Tim
It is possible to do so using visual studio, not sure about SharePoint designer. I've been doing something fairly similar for a client myself however I am able to use visual studio to develop my features and even then it's been a pain.
Part of the issue is that various controls in SharePoint make the assumption about query variables and their meaning to the control (the ListFieldIterator comes to mind on this one). Trying to edit two different list's items on a single page is possible but I don't think it could (or should) be done through the desinger.
Can you get away with two separate forms/pages? If so that makes life much easier where you could do some kind of linking/forwarding between the pages. If you have to have a single page that represents both lists and their many items things get much more difficult. For the later you will almost certainly have to use Visual Studio since you will have to handle quite a bit of the server side logic.
Depends on how restricted you are. If you have access to the server via RDC, you could create these lists bases on a custom schema. All of this can be done using notepad.
A possible solution (that i've heard of but never tried):
a) Create your feature folder, and 2 schema files
b) Get a copy of a basic list schema, engineer it to match your requirements.
c) At the bottom of the schema, you can specify which aspx page is called when i) editing ii) viewing the list. Look at the default out of the box page that is usually referred to, make a copy (customblabla.aspx) and point your list schema to that file (obviously store it along with the out of the box aspx file.
Since you have control over this aspx file, you may able to tweak it do exactly what you want.
Sorry if this doesn't work...

SharePoint: How can I clean it up, without reinstalling?

I've made a mess of MOSS (well not really, just that I've created some site columns that are now impossible to delete).
Is there any way I can revert to a default installation without reinstalling everything?
Failing that is there a way to force delete site columns?
Update
Basically another "typical day developing around Sharepoint..." moto, with Sharepoint it is 100% probable something will go wrong.
I have Site Columns that can't be deleted, because they're "bound to a content type, that I've already deleted"
If you are created custom columns on Document Library level you just need to delete Document Library
In case you created custom columns at site collection level you should delete your site collection and create a new one. New site collection will not be affected unless you made some non-supported customizations to "12 hive".
In both cases you can solve the problem without reinstallation.
Hope it helps,

Sharepoint Custom List with custom new forms not able to add to folders

I have a custom list which has customized edit and new forms which were required by the user.
I then tried to add a new item to a folder (folders have the text of the year e.g. 2010) and when I click save on the customized new form it saves correctly but always to the root of the list.
I am wondering if there is a fix or a work around for this as it is highly annoying.
Alternatively can anyone recommend a way to implement a field which will auto calculate + 1 year from creation date, which might be a possible alternative however it will have to take into account the following.
Where the current year runs october to september.
Thanks for any help this has been driving me mad trying to find a solution.
Can't help much without knowing what you based the custom form on, but for a new form the folder to save to usually shows up in the query string.
The form is a basic custom form list which I have then just modified parts to remove fields that are not required or need to be read only.
The original form worked perfectly and allowed items to be added to the list subfolders.
The new one has no additional code and is using the standard sharepoint DataFormWebPart to create the custom list form and so I have no back end code to insert the item etc, although I may have to resort to this...will I?
You need to be careful when modifying standard forms. I recommend you go back to a copy of the standard form and verify that that saves correctly. Remove the "unneeded" fields until it stops working.
Sometimes with this sort of customisation you need to use css rather than server side changes to modify the form so that the functionality remains in place after the component is hidden.
It is definitely not an issue with the removal of fields as I created a new copy of the original and then changed it to a custom field saved it and tried to add an item.
It went straight into the root.
I tried the original form and it saves to the sub folder correctly.
Okay only work around I have for this at moment (I am currently in discussion with MS) is this.
http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepointdesigner/archive/2007/06/13/using-javascript-to-manipulate-a-list-form-field.aspx
I used the method getTagFromIdentifierAndTitle(tagName, identifier, title)
This returned the element I was after and then I basically went to the row dom node and deleted it.
I am hoping to have a nicer method but at least it is a work around for now.
