Windows 10, Node - 8.8.1, NPM - 5.4.2, Node-gyp - 3.6.2
I try to install gemini using: npm install -g gemini
After searching about this issues i was trying to resolve 1 option for Windows in https://github.com/nodejs/node-gyp#on-windows.
And in this flow i have trouble with windows-build-tools installation.
I run in cmd.exe (like Admin) : npm install --global --production windows-build-tools
Console:
C:\Windows\system32>npm install --global --production windows-build-tools
> windows-build-tools#1.3.2 postinstall C:\Users\p.stepanov\AppData\Roaming\npm\node_modules\windows-build-tools
> node ./lib/index.js

Already i:
add the environment variable VCTargetsPath top point at the C++
build tools path
try 2 option from https://github.com/nodejs/node-gyp#on-windows
Can anybody help me?
I found problem resolving in https://github.com/felixrieseberg/windows-build-tools/issues/20 :
Just add
%SystemRoot%/system32/WindowsPowerShell/v1.0
to your PATH and you should be good to go
Simply running npm install --global --production windows-build-tools#4.0.0 was not enough for my case. So I'd like to share the solution with the community:
Install Chocolatey if it is not installed on your machine yet (choco -v to check)
Go to Windows PowerShell (with Administrator rights)
Execute choco install python visualcpp-build-tools -y and then npm config set msvs_version 2017
Run npm install --global --production windows-build-tools#4.0.0
Now you are good to go, run npm i to install dependencies 😎
Use the below command and it should work:
npm install --global --production windows-build-tools#4.0.0
Please make sure your running cmd with admin privileges
npm install --global --production windows-build-tools#4.0.0

I installed nodejs and npm on windows 10. Than I tried to install cypress via npm install cypress --save-dev and get the following Error:

After this I added the path %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp to my system environment variables. But I get this error messages again. How can I fix this problem?
try the following steps :
install git on your machine and config it as global.
delete old package.js then re-init new package.
try again cypress install command
Try this instead by installing the previous version but Explicitly: npm install cypress#8.1.0 --save-dev
Download it in the any directory its a hack to download, if your proxy is properly configured and internet speed is good. it will download while doing npm install
wget https://cdn.cypress.io/desktop/7.6.0/win32-x64/cypress.zip
Provide the zip location
CYPRESS_INSTALL_BINARY=~/Downloads/cypress.zip npm install cypress
Remember to actually run the npm command inside your folder with the package.json.
Delete the package.json.
Again re build the package by npm init.
Install Cypress again by using npm install cypress --save-dev.
Hi I can't install the angular cli with npm install -g #angular/cli#8.3.19.
I keep getting this :
> node ./bin/postinstall/script.js

Node version : 13.0.1
Npm version : 6.13.1
Ubuntu version : 18.04.2
I also tried without specifying a CLI version.
I tried with this command that I found online :
npm install -g #angular/cli#8.3 --unsafe-perm=true --allow-root
And it worked.
Try to run with sudo npm. On Ubuntu, you need to run with root permission. It depends on how you install node.
sudo npm install -g #angular/cli#8.3.19
On the other hand, try to install node 12 and LTS versions to have a more secure version.
Hope it helps
Try clean your npm cache before npm cache clean or npm cache verify then npm install -g #angular/cli#8.3 --unsafe-perm=true --allow-root
Steps I followed
Downgrade node version using nvm to v12.3.0
Remove ng folder from /root/.nvm/versions/node/v12.3.0/bin
Again do npm install -g #angular/cli#8.3 --unsafe-perm=true --allow-root
and it worked
I am trying to install angular/cli on my windows10 64-bit machine, But I am getting the following error:

I am trying to execute the following command:
npm install -g angular/cli
Following are the specifications:
node --version
v10.15.1
npm --version
6.4.1
Things tried till now as suggested in different posts and forums:
Tried running command prompt as Administrator
Setting the network settings(set https-proxy and proxy).
npm cache clean --force
I don't have git installed on my machine, but is it necessary and mandatory?
I have installed angular previously also(Angular 4) but at that time everything was fine.
Need help.
You should install #angular/cli (note the #)
npm i #angular/cli
This one does not require git to be installed.
I have to admit that this naming is confusing.
I have installed node js latest version(8.8.1) and npm latest version(5.5.1)
and when i try to install node-sass i get this:
npm install -g node-sass

Thanks
node-sass requires node-gyp https://github.com/sass/node-sass#install
node-gyp requires windows-build-tools https://github.com/nodejs/node-gyp#on-windows
Install all the required tools and configurations using Microsoft's windows-build-tools using npm install --global --production windows-build-tools from an elevated PowerShell or CMD.exe (run as Administrator).
Using the npm install --global --production windows-build-tools on an Elevated prompt works for me. The installer got stuck on visual studio build tools, but they were already installed on my system. So i ctrl +c the npm install process and run it once again. This time a messages shows up that the build tools are already installed and the installation will be skipped and continued with python configuration.
Finally the node-sass installation completed successfully.
BTW node-sass usage is deprecated and will be removed. The suggestion is to start using sass.

help me to sort out
You can bypass https using below commands:
npm config set strict-ssl false
or set the registry URL from https or http like below:
npm config set registry="http://registry.npmjs.org/"
However, Personally I believe bypassing https is not the real solution, but we can use it as a workaround.
npm ERR! node -v v0.8.0
npm ERR! npm -v 1.1.32
Update your node.js installation. The following commands should do it (from here):
sudo npm cache clean -f
sudo npm install -g n
sudo n stable
Edit: okay, if you really have a good reason to run an ancient version of the software, npm set ca null will fix the issue. It happened, because built-in npm certificate has expired over the years.
I had same problem and finally I understood that my node version is old. For example, you can install the current active LTS node version in Ubuntu by the following steps:
sudo apt-get update
curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_10.x | sudo -E bash -
sudo apt-get install nodejs -y
Installation instructions for more versions and systems can be found in the following link:
https://github.com/nodesource/distributions/blob/master/README.md
I think I got the reason for the above error. It is the corporate proxy(virtual private network) provided in order to work in the client network. Without that connection I frequently faced the same problem be it maven build or npm install.
If you're behind a corporate proxy, try this setting for npm with your company's proxy:
npm --https-proxy=http://proxy.company.com install express -g
Since i stumbled on the post via google:
Try using npm ci it will be much than an npm install.
From the manual:
In short, the main differences between using npm install and npm ci are:
The project must have an existing package-lock.json or npm-shrinkwrap.json.
If dependencies in the package lock do not match those in package.json, npm ci will exit with an error, instead of updating the package lock.
npm ci can only install entire projects at a time: individual dependencies cannot be added with this command.
If a node_modules is already present, it will be automatically removed before npm ci begins its install.
It will never write to package.json or any of the package-locks: installs are essentially frozen.
Reinstall node, then update npm.
First I removed node
apt-get purge node
Then install node according to the distibution. Docs here .
Then
npm install npm#latest -g
Only recommended if you are running a very old version of node/npm where the certificates have expired or been replaced,
first run npm set ca null
then do your npm install
