Why is the project "Rename..." button grayed out? - windows-10

I wanted to rename some projects in Rider but the Rename... button in the context menu is inactive. What am I doing wrong? The shortcut Ctrl+R,R also doesn't work. It's an ASP.NET Core project and I'm using Rider that has just been released. The solution was previously created by Visual Studio 2017 and I added other projects with Rider but even those new projects cannot be renamed. It works however on files but not on projects or solution folders.

Because it was not implemented:

Ok, solved. All what was missing is "Undo pending changes" at project-level. After this operation the project is gone :)

delete project in android Studio 0.3.4

i have some old projects in my android studio ide.
I never need them.
When I right click on a project I can't find an option for deletion, is it elsewhere?
how i can delete a project in android studio 0.3.4 ?
Open the .idea/modules.xml, and delete you module, then right click on you module, you can see Delete....
You have to mark the project folder as excluded, once you've done this, you'll see the 'delete' option.
This method is explained with more detail in this link, which seems to be the same you're looking for

Android studio no main activity, no layouts on a new project

I installed new Android Studio. I created new Project and asked the wizard to create main activity. But there were no layouts, no main activity class, no nothing. Error on trying to make new Java class files. The new project tree looks like this:
No (main/java) folder.
No (res/layout) folder.
Other words project is useless.
From what i learned is that you may be picking the "no layout" option when prompted to pick one. Try picking the basic activity and the rest of the files will show
After creating the project, you need to go to File menu and then Import Project. Then browse to the location of your project and import it. Then you will see all of these files and folders. I had this problem too, and it seems to be something that they overlooked in the newer versions of Android Studio (which is quite pathetic if you ask me).
Empty Activity
Choose "Empty Activity" instead of "No Activity",
while creating a NEW PROJECT in Android Studio.
I don't know if anyone is having the same problem right now but i solved this issue by changing the Android Gradle plugin version and the Gradle version.
For doing this you have to open the project you're having issues with and click on
File->Project Structure->Project
and there you will see the two options.
Android Gradle Plugin Version 4.0.0 and Gradle version 6.1.1 worked for me. After that I went to the file directory, right click on the package folder "com.example.myProject" and manually created an empty activity. The layout folder with my new activity was created automatically after that.
I found it's because I changed the Java runtime version before through the Android Studio plugin Choose Runtime. I changed to JDK 8 from JDK 11 then the problem occured. It worked for me to change back to JDK 11 through plugin Choose Runtime.
Try
Typing main activity (without quotes) in the search box and
Press enter.
For me it got restored. Search window is useful in finding many hidden tools quickly.
I created a new activity by right clicking on java then selected activity and the layout file was automatically written
When you open a new project, you can't select "empty project" you have to select and activity project. I just went through this had to delete my project and start a new one now everythings there.

How do I add folders into the Solution Explorer for Visual Studio Express 2012 for Web?

I am very new to Visual studio, so I am trying to learn the basics.
I have read so many articles but some are for 2012, some are for the non-web version, etc, but I seriously can't find a solution to such a simple task as this.
I am using Visual Studio Express 2012 for Web, and have created a "Blank Solution".
I end up with this view:
Now my goal is to add all my existing files and folders and have it shown in Visual Studio.
So, I have located my solution file on disk and copied all my files into the same folder:
Now, I know its possible to add single items into the view by right clicking and picking add item:
But I cant include folders here. I have tried to drag and drop, I have read guides about using the "Show all files" button, but apparently that does not exist for the Web version of Visual Studio 2012.
Could anyone please tell me what the proper way is to include all my files into the solution explorer?
I just had this same problem in Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate. I know your question is about Web but maybe this will work for you too.
Assuming the files/folders you want to include are in your solution folder, from the Project menu toggle on "Show All Files", then you should see the files/folders in Solution Explorer. Select those you want to include, right click and choose "Include in Project".
A solution contains one or several projects and no solution-wide files (normally). Create a project, and then follow How do I add an existing directory tree to a project in Visual Studio? to add the files.
(It was a long time ago I did it this way, and with an earlier version of Visual Studio, so YMMV.)
I think that the best way to do it is to simply drag&drop desired folders with files between file explorer and solution explorer in VS. I've just tested it and that works the best for me.
You can place your files in the Solution folder and refresh the solution explorer :) It'll automatically add your files, I do it for 2010 and think it'll work for 2012 as well
In solution Explorer top toggle,You can find few icons, Find Show all files and click on it.Navigate to the folder exactly matching the same address in your visual studio and you can see a folder which is newly added into your project,Which is displayed as a dotted folder and right click on it and include it into project.
Don't forget to convert the project into Web-Application.
Thanks.
I actually found the solution.
So in solution explorer there is a button "Solutions and Folders" screenshot
When you pressed it your project folder would be opened. You find the folder that you need to add, copy it (screenshot), return to project solution and past it

Visual Studio 2008 Extensions for SharePoint Svcs 1.3 missing "Quick Deploy" Menu Item

We are developing a Sharepoint solution using Visual Studio 2008 Extensions for SharePoint Svcs 1.3.
Some of the developers have had a "Quick Deploy" and a "Package" menu option, some of the developers have never had it. Currently nobody has it.
We are wondering if there is a Guid in the project file that causes this to be available.
Question is how can we get this menu item back again.
Thanks
Shiraz
We eventually solved this.
The root cause of the problem was that some of the developers had an earlier version of vsewss. We lost quick deploy when they merged there changes into the solution file.
We solved it, by creating a new solution file and then adding all of the existing projects to it.
