I installed sublime text on a new machine, the first time I went to compile java it asked me Ant/JavaC.
I accidentally clicked Ant, is there absolutely no way to change it? It doesn't look like it's in syntax-specific or normal settings.
You can change which build system is used from the Tools menu -> Build System when the Automatic one isn't suitable, or Tools menu -> Build With to choose a different variant.
ST tracks this in the session/workspace, rather than a user facing preferences file.

I'm here today because I'm having an issue with Android Studio. I don't know if it existed on previous versions (I don't remember this being an issue, so I doubt it was a problem on a previous version), but currently I am using the Android Studio V2.1 Stable release.
My issue is that if I launch Android Studio (I happen to be on Windows, 64-bit Android Studio) and at the Start Screen/Page, I click Configure>Settings>Editor>Code Styles, and change the default parameters on any of the languages (XML, Java, HTML, etc.), the Default profile is copied to a new profile (Default(1)) and the new settings get applied to each profile.
If I Apply these changes and exit Android Studio, and launch back up and follow the same method...the settings have completely gone back to what they were before I changed them, with the exception of the Default(1) copy profile. But from my experience, Android Studio doesn't build new projects based on this Default(1) copy profile, it builds them on the Default profile. Which means all of my adjustments to using indents and not spaces, keeping indents on empty lines, etc. all do not get carried through to the actual project files, leaving me to have to go back into the settings with the project loaded up and change all of these parameters again. That's just asinine. Please tell me I'm missing something here and that there's a simpler way of achieving the ability to keep a code style template that I can use on all of my projects!
Perhaps it would be better to report or consult on this using the Android Studio feedback site. If that's the better option, I'm willing to do that too.
Thanks everyone!
What I do in that case is
Go to Preferences
Code Style
Select scheme you want
Click Settings cog
Click copy to project
Some OKs and then it works.
After selecting the code style that i want, opened the gradle.properties file in root folder of the project and deleted the following line
kotlin.code.style=official
deleting the above line, prevents the code style resetting to default.
Go to Preferences
Code Style
Set Scheme to Default [IDE]
Click restore defaults
The simplest way I found to reset the default settings is as follows:
In Android Studio, click on File.
Settings (Ctrl + Alt + S)
Under Editor in settings
Select Code Style
Next to Scheme: select the three dots to access the scheme options ()
Select Restore Defaults
A Confirmation Dialog Box will be displayed to confirm if you want to revert back to
the default settings.
Whenever I open any solution in VS2012 from local path (which is mapped in TFS), the files are automatically checking out. I want to disable this feature.
I tried to disconnect from TFS and to work on it, But it is closing the solution. Plesase help me out in achieving this. I didn't get this problem before when I was using VS2010
You need to unbind your project(s) from TFS source control.
Select the project or solution from the Solution Explorer
From the main menu select File->Source Control->Advanced->Change Source Control...
Select one or all projects and press the "Unbind" button on the top of the dialog
select ok to the warning popup
You can later bind the projects again, personally I don't do this so I can't say how well it works. I found some more info here
Here are the visual steps:
This brings up the dialog to select projects to bind/unbind.
I had to select one at a time.
Select "Unbind" for each project
Here's what it should look like when unbound.
You can later come back and bind the projects again and TFS will try and reconcile your changes.
Try rather change Checked-in items (Saving, Editing) to 'Prompt for check out'
Tools -> Options -> Source Control -> Enviroment -> Checked-in items
Disable the following option. It should solve your problem.
Tools -> Options -> Source Control -> Enviroment -> Get everything when a solution or project is opened
I have checked out a cross-compilation project from SVN on Eclipse (on a Linux system). I am unable to open a functions declaration from the functions's right-click context menu (or by pressing F3). Upon research, I found out I don't even have anything like Index -> .. in the project's right-click menu. I have tried a lot with the Preferences -> C/C++ -> indexer but no useful results. I am not using Eclipse to build it but there are no errors since I can build it using makefile
PS: Though there are a few questions with the matching title, but none of them helped me
Here is the solution found after a million attempts. The project should be checked-out as C/C++ project, by selecting import using new project wizard.. The index will NOT be available in the SVN projects checked-out directly. Hope it saves some one's time
Eclipse Kepler SR2 on Windows 7 here.
Faced the same issue, the following sequence of inputs made it work for me:
Import...
"Checkout projects from SVN."
Select branch etc.
Check the "Check out project configured using the New Project Wizard" radio button.
Select "C/C++ -> C Project."
Pick a toolchain, doesn't matter which if you use an external one.
Now you can right click on the project (once fully checked out) and rebuild the indexer.
I am using Indigo and solved it as follows (without checking out again!)
Right click on project in question and select New->Convert to a C/C++ Project
After selecting toolchain, indexing gets built automatically.
I program a embedded Linux on a separate target. For that I use Eclipse as a editor and the powerpc-linux-gcc.
That's a bit uncomfortable.
Is it possible to use a powerpc-linux-gcc in Eclipse?
Yes, but you want to install (via Help -> install new software -> from all available sources -> Mobile and device development) C/C++ cross compiler support and possibly C/C++ GDB hardware debugging.
When you start new project, selecet C or C++ project, then Executable, then "empty project" (or something else) and then make sure, in to selecet "Cross gcc" in right listbox. Press Next button until the page with cross compiler prefix and path shows. There you need to enter prefix (powerpc-linux- in your case) and you can also select your compiler's directory (if you have not added it to path).
When you have project set up this way, selected toolchain is used to build. You can alse set up "GDB hardware debugging" session to debug your application remotely.
I recently updated my Eclipse to the latest release 3.5 and since then I have a very annoying problem with c&p using the shortcuts.
In an editor (xml, jsp, doesn't matter which one) I try to copy something and paste it somewhere else, nothing happens. When I cut out something and put it somewhere else I sometimes get something else (like a messed up part of my previous selection) or just some whitespaces. This gets even worse when I change lines in between.
First I thought that my keyboard is probably broken but it works just fine in other programs. Then I tried using the context menus' c&p and there it works. Yesterday I managed to get at least an error message when I tried to copy a file in the navigator from one project to another (the message was just "error using copy...bla". no details).
Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to solve it?
I am running on Kubuntu 9.04, and have quite some plugins installed (but only from the Galileo Updates Site), like Birt, Mylin, WST, or Subversive.
For my problem, I had to go to Window > Preferences > Java > Editor > Typing, and uncheck "Update imports"
This must be related to the key mapping, since those shortcuts are defined according to context.
(Column "When", in Preferences / General / Keys)
Check if those shortcuts do not work for any editor (do they work for Java editor?)
If they work for some editor, not for other, then some plugin settings must have re-affected them to another command.
This is caused by various X clipboard managers doing weird things with the clipboard. (bug report).
In XFCE the clipman applet was rolled in XFCE 4.8, and will be the source of these problems.
To fix this in XFCE - kill xfce4-settings-helper. You will need to use Settings Manager -> Session and Startup -> Session to kill it, as otherwise it may restart automatically.
To prevent this starting next time, you will need to remove it from your startup/login programs in Settings Manager > Session and Startup > Application Autostart.
Problem was solved with newer Eclipse releases. I think >= 3.6. Depending on your distribution there may be a (back)port of this (not on my Xubuntu 11.04) within the repositories.
So a tarball installation of Eclipse 4.0 works perfectly for me. Cut&Paste works and I am lucky that my plugins are compatible to 4.0.
Unfortunately Sublime Text has the same problems.
I read somewhere that in KDE maybe Klipper / "Klipper on the panel" conflicts with eclipse copy action.
It's a tool for clipboard history. Try to remove that! It may solve your problem :-/
For me the xfce4-settings-helper killing worked.
Workaround:
You can cut&paste from the compare view. So simply compare the un-copyable file (e.g., local history) with a different version and Control-C what you need there.
In the *.java editor page, right click and select open in text editor. Past your snippet there. Your Snippet will show in the *.java page'
I use Eclipse Kepler for PHP development. It's dumb I know.
None of the solutions suggested here has solved this source of frustration.
I can confirm the copy function works whether shortcut keys are bound or not. As I can copy from eclipse and paste into any other application. Except eclipse.
My solution. Accidental discovery: Eclipse Kepler will allow you to paste outside the php open and close tags and allow you to click and drag the highlighted block of content into into position.
Acceptable solution for small bits of code. Horribly crippling for larger development environments.
For Xming, this resolved the problem for me. In XLaunch uncheck Clipboard (clipboard manager) in the "Specify parameter settings" GUI form.
