Excel: Finding next equal match in column - excel

I've googled for a solution to my problem for days and I just can't seem to get my head around how to do this.
I have 28 chickens and I track the eggs each one lays each month. My Excel sheet looks like this:
Current Egg-cel sheet
Column C is populated by the formula:
=LARGE($A$2:$A$29,$B1)
I'm using column B to increment the LARGE function
I want column D to populate with which chicken number laid the quantity in column C.
Obviously INDEX MATCH or VLOOKUP returns the first match for all equal values. How do I find the the next match? i.e.
Egg-cell sheet 2
I've seen similar questions and solutions but I for the life of me can not get it to work.

Use this formula in D2:
=INDEX(B:B,AGGREGATE(15,6,ROW($A$2:$A$29)/($A$2:$A$29=C2),COUNTIF($C$2:C2,C2)))
And drag down

If you're happy to add a few helper columns, this is a simple way to go:
The formula in column C creates a unique number by bringing together the eggs laid and the chicken number
=--(A2&"."&B2)
Column D is just your LARGE formula,
=LARGE($C$2:$C$4,B2)
Column E just gets the integer part of column D
=INT(D2)
And finally Column F gets the decimal part (chicken number) from column D
=--REPLACE(MOD(D2,1),1,2,"")

Formula to get crossed values

I am trying to get values from other column, based on some logic, crossed logic, but I didn't get any result with the only thing I know: IF or VLOOKUP.
The table is in this way:
So basically there are groups divided by blank row, and in column D I want to add the value from column B, but according with other letter that the one from the row ( C is from Credit, D is from Debtor). So in first D5 I have C on the same row in A5, so I need to take value from D, which is 2, according to B6.
So sorry if this question is too easy or stupid, but I don't know much about excel formulas, other that the basic one.
I'd say the fastest way with formula takes two columns. The first one (let's say column C) will use this formula to define the blocks:
=IF(A5="",C4+1,IFERROR(C4+0,0))
It's meant for cell C5.
The second column will give back the actual result:
=SUMIFS(B:B,A:A,IF(A5="C","D",IF(A5="D","C","")),C:C,C5)
It's meant for cell D5.
Place them accordingly and drag them down to cover your list.
Then again: if you are looking just for the number and not for its sum (and therefore assuming all numbers are equal for each letter in each block), just use this one in cell D5 instead of the previous one:
=SUMIFS(B:B,A:A,IF(A5="C","D",IF(A5="D","C","")),C:C,C5)/COUNTIFS(A:A,IF(A5="C","D",IF(A5="D","C","")),C:C,C5)

Number occurrences in another cell (Excell) [duplicate]

I have simple problem, but I've not be able to get an answer from searching. I require a column to calculate the number of the nth occurrence of a value. It's best explained in this picture
I require a method to calculate column B.
I'd be very grateful for any help.
Are you looking to merely provide a count of the distinct entries of column A in column B? Or merely add a formula to come up with the table in your link?
If the latter, then the formula to write in cell B2 is:
=COUNTIF(A$2:A2,A2)
then copy/paste it down column B. Note - if your data is both a Date and Time, but the cell is formatted to only display a date, you may not get the results you want. You'd need to interject a new column with a "floor" calculation to round the date/time value to a date (Excel date times are decimal, with integer part dictating the date, and remaining 0.0 -> 1.0 dictating the time of day)
If you just want to derive a table of the counts of distinct entries in column A, then a pivot table will do this for you - simple add a pivot table to cover the data in column A, then select column A into the rows category, and then also drag it into the values category, ensuring the field is set to "Count of". You should then have a table with the distinct entries in your data set in one column, and the count of their occurrences in the other column.
You can use the COUNTIF worksheet function, with a relative address.
Eg. In cell B2, enter this formula:
=COUNTIF(A$2:A2,A2)
And then fill-down.
Use the following formula to generate the required series:
=COUNTIF($A$1:A1,A1) and strech(copy) it in all the cells
This will generate result like this:

Search two columns in Excel for duplicates in different rows then only count one row when summing values in a separate column

I am new to the Stackoverflow and I would greatly appreciate anyone's help here as I've racking my brain trying to figure it out if I need a macro or not. Essentially I'd like to match columns A and B to find a duplicate in either direction then only sum the first instance of the match. So I would only sum 10+9+8+7.

create a new column and use the below formula
=IF((COUNTIF(A$1:A5,A6)+COUNTIF(B$1:B5,A6)+COUNTIF(A$1:A5,B6)+COUNTIF(B$1:B5,B6))>0,0,C6)
take sum of this new column
this would ignore the value to be added, if a value in any columns (A or B) is repeated in any of the columns (A or B)
Place this formula in a separate column. Say, column E
=IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH(A1,B2:B$7,0)),"","Add")
Then this formula anywhere you want: =SUMIF(E1:E7,"Add",C1:C7)
This assumes a match on one side is always a match on the other side. If you need to ensure both sides match, change the first formula to this:
=IF(AND(ISNUMBER(MATCH(A1,B2:B$7,0)),ISNUMBER(MATCH(B1,A2:A$7,0))),"","Add")

How to return a value to the left of a table array with VLOOKUP?

I need help searching Column E for value=1 and return the value of column A for the same row. VLOOKUP isn't working because there are many columns being searched and there are several 1's in the lookup, and I couldn't seem to search just 1 column using VLOOKUP. Here's how my spreadsheet looks...

So I want to search column E for value=1 and return the corresponding value in column A, which in this example would search "HeightRank" for "value=1" and return "Charles"
I tried using =VLOOKUP(1,E:E,1) but that returns an error.
I tried using =VLOOKUP(1,A1:E3,1) but that returns an error.
INDEX(A:A,MATCH(1,E:E,0))
VLOOKUP doesn't work here -- it always searches in the first column of your table and returns a value of a column a given number of columns to the right.
The INDEX/MATCH combination is more flexible, letting you just choose the two columns you want. It's also easier to read (you don't have to count columns to see what it does) and it doesn't break if you insert or delete columns in between the ones you're using, which VLOOKUP does. If you use the trace-formula features, VLOOKUP also falsely implies that all the columns in between are precedents of your resulting formula. (Can you tell that I don't much like VLOOKUP? I just always use INDEX/MATCH and my life is easier for it.)
The OFFSET solution works but it's volatile, so you'll really bog down your worksheet if many cells depend on the result of your formula.
MATCH(x,E2:E4,0) returns the relative position of x in the range E2:E4. For example, MATCH(1,E2:E4,0) returns 3, because 1 is the value of the third cell in the range E2:E4.
OFFSET(A2,r,c) returns the cell r rows and c columns away from A2.
Thus you can say =OFFSET(A2,MATCH(1,E2:E4,0)-1,0) to return the value from column A corresponding to the cell in column E that contains 1.
