I have recently updated from version 2016.2 to 2017.1. Not counting this issue, it looks like all settings and plugins were imported from previous version successfully.
My question is, how to disable this behavior under Linux? I have already bound functionality to my middle button in IDEA, but it is being overwritten by that stupid second clipboard paste which I don't even use.
Only related thing I found in settings was Paste on middle mouse click in Terminal. It did not change anything in the normal main editor pane.
Edit: Few months later and it is still not fixed in current IDEA version. I am paying for the IDE and this feels like being ripped off.
Go to Settings -> Keymap -> Editor Actions.
Right click 'Paste from X clipboard'.
Select 'Remove Button2 Click'.
Apply.
This worked for me: Go to Settings -> Keymap and select 'Default' from the 'Keymaps:' dropdown in the top left - Or at least select away from 'Default for XWin Copy'. Then remove 'Button2 Click' from 'Paste from X clipboard.'
This is a bit of a pain because it resets all your keymaps, but at least it fixes middle click.
It's a known issue, please follow for updates:

I can't find an answer to this anywhere on the web.
In Notepad++ the copy/paste functions do not work NOW! They did before (until now).
The keyboard shortcuts do not work, but here is part of the issue.
On the menu at the top the cut and paste items are grayed out (so do not function there either).
At the shortcut mapper there are no entries for cut and paste (supposed to be at the top but are not anywhere).
These functions work OK in Windows so it is not a Microsoft problem but a Notepad++ problem exclusively.
Tried the following:
Closed all files and the program.
Restarted the program and tried again.
Downloaded the latest version and installed it. Tried again.
Help
Not sure what the real problem is, so bare with me,
First I'd check your bindings are set.
Open Notepad++,
Select "Macro" drop down menu, and click "Modify Shortcut/Delete Macro..."
Navigate to the "Scintilla commands" tab,
Here you can use the filter at the bottom of the window to find specifics,
e.g, "Copy" or "paste" and set your key-bindings.
My Copy is "Ctrl+C or Ctrl+INS" and Paste is "Ctrl+V or Shift+INS" by default.
It's not uncommon for third-party applications/processes to block certain features, also check the directory you installed it to, as sometimes permissions may block features, too.
Hope this helps.
I don't know why this ticket is still open but this was first on my Google list.
My issue was that I had "Set Read-Only" enabled on the "Edit" menu.
I clicked on something in Visual Studio 2017 and now all the dropdown menu options are floating to the left instead of the default right. Below is a print screen of how it should look...
But I get something like this, floats to the left ...
I've gone through the options pretty thoroughly but I can't seem to find the option for this. Does anyone know where the option to control this is?
The direction of the menus in Visual Studio is actually controlled by a setting on OS level. On recent versions of Windows, it's pretty well hidden but you can directly run the following in the Windows -> Run dialog (Win+R) to open the settings dialog:
explorer shell:::{80F3F1D5-FECA-45F3-BC32-752C152E456E}
and change the radio button in Tablet PC Settings -> Other -> Handedness to Right-handed.
You can change the horizontal direction that the menus in Visual Studio roll out to by editing the registry as well (useful if the "Other" tab in Tablet PC Settings is not visible on your instance of Windows).
Open the registry (type regedit in the start menu and press Enter).
Navigate to this location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
If you don't have an entry called MenuDropAlignment, right click and create a new StringValue (REG_SZ) called MenuDropAlignment.
Change the value of MenuDropAlignment to be whichever way you want the menus to open to.
0 = Menus open to right (this is the "normal" way that most people expect the menus to open)
1 = Menus open to left
Once you have finished making this change, close everything and restart your machine.
On Linux (really on X11) there are multiple kinds of selection.
When I click the clipboard button on a Github "Clone or download" popup using Firefox the clone URL gets copy to the clipboard.
It does not get "copied" into the primary selection.
This annoys me, since I am used to select things with the left mouse and then pasted them with my middle mouse button. In this popup however I am forced to use the CTRL+V method to paste.
Is this a deliberate decision or a bug? I believe that it used to work some time ago?!
If it is a bug:
Is this a Firefox bug, a GTK+ bug, a Github bug or what? Where would I start looking for this problem?
I am facing a weird issue with Mac version of Android Studio (i.e., I am not able to copy (⌘ + C) and paste (⌘ + V) any text). I have no idea why it is behaving strange like this. My question may be silly, but I have been facing this issue since I started working from Windows to Mac. Any solutions and alternatives would be much helpful for me. I am completely stuck with this issue for the past two days.
There are several reasons why you could be experiencing this
You are using ClipMenu and Android studio doesn't like it
Your keybinding is messed up.
To solve keybinding issue press File -> Settings and check what the keybindings are, you have maybe changed it or imported settings from somebody else. See the image as a reference.
Note: the filter of copy, you need to do this for paste too.
To fix the issue with ClipMenu.
Right click on "Application/IntelliJ IDEA 14.app"
choose "Show Package Contents"
edit bin/idea.properties
add this property ide.mac.useNativeClipboard=True
restart IntelliJ IDEA.
There is a YouTrack issue with further information
this worked for me
go to file menu and click on invalidate Caches/Restart ,after this confirm the dialog open .
Go to File-> Setting->Editor(Under IDE Settings)->Change value of maximum number of contents to keep in clipboard to 1(Under Limits section)
I have this issue due to PopClip I have to disable it to get the keyboard shortcuts working.
Check that your keymaps aren't messed up. Go to Android Studio > Preferences > Keymap > Main Menu > Edit. If copy and paste are set correctly there, then it must be something else in your system that's stopping it
I got this bug with my ClipMenu (on Mac) while set useNativeClipboard=true.
I solved the problem by using ClipMenu to paste file into Android Studio (show menu of ClipMenu, then select item)
In my case, the Ctrl c is occupied by other programs(my case is "Oulu Dictionary" program).
Try to check if other programs have global shortcut keys.
disable the plugin Ideavm if installed under settings>plugins>installed.
I did some find-and-replace actions in my C++ code with visual studio:
only single find-and-replace actions (did not use “replace all”)
only one file affected (did not change multiple files at the same time)
thus, a very simple case!
Then I wanted to undo these changes. So I pressed ctrl-Z one time. This had the desired effect. The latest change (which was still visible in the current screen) was undone.
But I also wanted to undo the remaining changes. These changes where currently not visible on the screen. So I expected the editor to scroll there when pressing ctrl-Z.
But unfortunately the editor did not scroll to the position of the undo when I pressed ctrl-z.
The undo worked, however. I checked by scrolling to the position manually.
Then I tried it with redo. Same result: Redo worked, but the editor did not scroll to the position of the redo.
Finally I tried if this also happens when I undo-redo other types of changes (not made by the “find and replace” functionality).
Result: Undo-Redo worked correctly and also scrolled correctly!
Thus: It seems only changes by the “find and replace” functionality are affected by this problem.
Did you also have this problem and found a solution?
Please help me!
Regards Gerhard
I am having the same thing happen in Visual Studio Ultimate 2012 (Version 11.0.60610.01 Update 3).
It might sound like it's not that important, but it is really hurting the usability of this otherwise great IDE!
PS I've been using VS since the 90s, I still haven't found anything better. I wish MS would put macros back into VS, even if it's VBA (or Python)
