I have a VPS server on Digital Ocean and I need to set up this server to host multiple domains with cPanel. I've been trying for 2 days and I can not understand the logic.
My domain is sbcw.com.br
I would like that at the end of this process my domain have function as the nameservers shown in the example below:
DOMAIN : mycustomer.com
NAMESERVERS : ns1.sbcw.com.br
ns2.sbcw.com.br
I need help to successfully configure the records to use my domain as a nameserver for other domains and I have little experience in this segment.
The attachment corresponds to some attempts to find the settings.
Assign the IPs and configure the name servers in WHM as
ns1.sbcw.com.br
ns2.sbcw.com.br
Make sure you have A records added for the name servers on the server with their IPs.
Contact your domain registrar where the domain sbcw.com.br is hosted and register those name servers in order to make them active. Those name servers should ping.
Make sure you have DNS zone created in WHM for the domain sbcw.com.br with the name servers assigned.

Take for example I have bought my domain example.com at Namecheap.
I than set a custom customer name server in Namecheap because I am using Cloudflare as my authoritative DNS as follows
alpha.ns.cloudflare.com
beta.ns.cloudflare.com
Now my plan is to have DNS high-availability to prevent any DNS outage and ensure the accessibly my web application. I am going use another set of name server from Godaddy namely
ns01.domaincontrol.com
ns02.domaincontrol.com
So can I add these 4 name server record from 2 DNS provider in Namecheap to achieve high-availability ?
alpha.ns.cloudflare.com
beta.ns.cloudflare.com
ns01.domaincontrol.com
ns02.domaincontrol.com
what I have tried is I added these records but in Godaddy it is still showing "This domain is registered elsewhere. To use these DNS records on your domain, set your domain to these nameservers at your registrar:" , only in Cloudflare is active.
I had bought my domain name through namecheap. Recently I set up MS Azure and created a VM machine which runs apache and wordpress. The VM has an IP address which is pointing to my domain name. A few days ago I removed namecheap hosting and transferred everything to azure. BUT for some reason, my domain quantiv3.com keeps switching from the old namecheap IP address to the new azure IP address. This can be seen when doing a DNS look up on mxtoolbox.com... I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. Could anyone help? Thanks
You have 8 Name Servers listed for your domain.
4 are reporting one IP address and the other 4 are reporting another IP address.
The solution is to first correctly configure the correct DNS servers at your Domain Registrar. Then correctly configure the correct DNS servers pointed to by the Name Servers.
Typically you only configure one set of Name Servers. For your domain you have two sets of Name Servers. The first is provided by Microsoft Online (Office 365) and the second is provided by Azure DNS. Pick one or the other and correctly configure your DNS Registrar. If you decide to keep both sets, then you must configure both sets to be identical except for the SOA record.
I have a domain and i want to set it to my server(centos 7).
I made a dns server by bind on my server and made 2 nameserver (ns1.myDomain.ir and ns1.myDomain.ir) and set it in my domain configuration, But i cant ping to my domain.
What is the problem?
At the domain registrar, you need to specify the authorised DNS server for your domain. My suggestion is to use the domain registrar's DNS server for resolution and create a zone file there for your domain and enter the A records and other records for your use case.
To have a domain working you don't need to setup your on DNS (bind) server.
I have a 2 DNS servers (BIND) lets say ns1.abc.com & ns2.abc.com. These name servers are the name servers for multiple domains. One of my clients, lets say xyz.com would like the name servers on there WHOIS to show ns1.xyz.com & ns2.xyz.com. Can setup my current DNS server to allow this? We tried, but some registrars wouldn't allow it saying that it was using a "HIDDEN NAME".
Any ideas?
Thanks.
The functionality you want to achieve is called custom/private nameservers. If your registrar allows, you can set 2 hostnames on BIND server IP addresses and register custom nameservers on your domain name.
Once they are registered, you can follow this KB to setup custom nameservers in BIND DNS server ... http://www.mysql-apache-php.com/dns-server-tutorial.htm .If you are on cPanel setup, it's pretty easy to setup custom nameservers from WHM itself.
I'm totally new about hosting website and I register a domain in network solution and hosted by hostgator. I tried to register my name server by going to Domain name server option in network solution and enter my name sever's name. However,by going to leafdns.com, I found out that the name servers don't pointing to the right ip addresses as provided by hostgator welcome email. Besides, network solution does not prompt you for a ip input for those name servers, and the domain still point to a construction page.
What would be the problem?
It's not enaught to set up Name Servers for domain, you need add records in it. If you setup hostgator hosting NameServers for your domain, just park your domain on hosting panel and NS records add apear automatically.
