I am grabbing data from excel spreadsheet and looking to format it in a certain way before I store it as a string.
The formatting of excel cell is to have 2 decimal places - an example of a value is:
283,323.20
This is how I grab the value:

However, doing it this way gets rid of the last 0 so the number looks like this, which is almost what I want:
283323.2
I tried to do something like:
Dim HoldDecValue As Decimal= CDEC(excel.Cells(Row, Column).Value)
and:
Holdvalue = HoldDecValue.ToString("N2")
which makes it look like this:
283,323.20
but my goal is to make it look like this:
283323.20
With the suggestion from Plutonix - I was able to do it...
Dim HoldTotal_SPEND As Double = CDbl(excel.Cells(Row, Column).Value) strHoldTOTAL = (HoldTotal.ToString("F"))

Sometimes a phone number will be in the text but not always and the phone number entered will always be different.
Is there a measure to use to replace the phone numbers with no text.
Ideally the solution would be Power BI, but can also be done in the raw data using excel or VBA
Regular expression in VBA (excel) or Python (Power BI) is a straightforward solution.
I have never used PowerBI with Python before but manage to make following python script.
In PowerBI transformation steps I created a new column that would copy [message] columns and named it [noPhoneNumber], then next step ran this python script

In VBA Preferable create UDF (user defined function) and don't create a subroutine, that would be too error prone for this kind of problem.

If you need to make a Excel based solution, you can create a UDF function like so:
(remember early binding to import of VBScript_RegExp_55.RegExp in excel)
Function removePhoneNumber(text As String, Optional replacement As String = "**number removed**") As String
Dim regex As New RegExp
regex.Pattern = "\d{10,11}"
removePhoneNumber = regex.Replace(text, replacement)

...and then use excel function like so:

You can do this in Power Query. Create a custom column with this below code. I have considered the column name is Comments but please adjust this with your column name.

Here is the output below. You can also replace phone numbers with other text like #### to make is anonymous.
NOTE
This will only work if there are only 1 number in the string with length 11 (You can adjust the length in code as per requirement).
This will Not work if there are more than one Numbers in the string.
If there are 1 number in the string but length not equal 11, this will keep the whole string as original.
I tried to create a file with decimal numbers on cells (F1:F4), but when i am going to insert a formula to the cell, it's show it like a string.

Try this:

You didn't set the range of the sheet. Also changed the SUMME to SUM, unless you have a User Defined Function (UDF) which is called SUMME or you are using Excel in a language where Summe = Sum.
EDIT:
After looking into the library you are using, I would try the following:
s1["F5"].Value = "=SUMME(F1:F4)";
I found the solution. With that library, it's not possible.
I used another library just to make the formula. Nix library it's good to add data to the cells.

There are probably more than 5 ways to do what you want, depending on what exactly do you need. One of these ways is to build a simple custom formula like this:

I'm having trouble extracting this text, exactly as it appears, from a CSV. There are similar questions posted on SO but they don't match my requirements:
I want to extract "31 January 2017" from this row:

Currently, VBA considers it "31 Jan" without the year. I've tried applying .NumberFormat to the cell (general, text, date).
SOLUTION REQUIREMENTS:
No user action required -- Interact with the file only using VBA (not using File > Import > Wizard)
Compatible with VBA Excel 2003
Extract the full text regardless of Excel or operating system date settings

You can use the split function, using the comma as a delimiter like this:
sResult = Split("4,'31 January 2017','Funds Received/Credits',56,,401.45, ", ",")(1)
If you dont want the single quotes, then add the replace function like this:
sResult = Replace(Split("4,'31 January 2017','Funds Received/Credits',56,,401.45, ", ",")(1), "'", "")
If you include the "Microsoft VBScript Regular Expressions 5.5" Reference, you can set up a pattern that will extract the whole date if it is found. For example:

You get the benefit from this method that all the dates in the CSV will be pulled out at once, much faster than using a split line by line. Additionally, the dates may be accessed by using
DateStr = StrMatch.Item(index)
for the whole string line, or substrings can be set up to get specific parts of the string(Such as month, day, year).

It is a very powerful tool, with a simple set of symbols for development of patterns. I highly suggest you familiarize yourself with it for manipulation of large strings.
I am trying to read a cell with possible trailing zeros as a string instead of numeric (which strips off leading zeros). The cell is read by integer column/row as below instead of column string as this answer has.

I tried modifying this from:
$keyCell = $sheet->getCellByColumnAndRow(1,5);
to:
$sheet->setCellValueExplicitByColumnAndRow(1,5, PHPExcel_Cell_DataType::TYPE_STRING);
$keyCell = $sheet->getCellByColumnAndRow(1,5);
the former gives 1407 for $keyCell instead of 01407
the latter gives "s" or ""
how do I treat the cell as string before calling getCellByColumnAndRow and using only integer values for column and row.
(BTW, if this can be done once for an entire column instead of each time for each individual cell that would be better)

Will read the cell data in the format that it's actually stored by Excel, you can't arbitrarily change that or tell PHPExcel to read it as a different datatype.
However, if the cell has formatting applied, then you can use
$keyCell = $sheet->getCellByColumnAndRow(1,5)->getFormattedValue();
instead, and this will return the data as a string, with whatever format mask was defined in the Excel spreadsheet

So last I change code in library. Edit file named DefaultValueBinder.php
Search for dataTypeForValue function and set this :
